I am a director, teaching artist, producer, and sometimes actor who has lived and worked in Philadelphia for the past 15 years. I'm the Co-Artistic Director and founding member of ReVamp Collective, a Philadelphia based feminist-centric theatre company. I've taught with Walnut Street Theatre, Lantern Theater Company, Theatre Horizon, Delaware Theatre Company, and Philadelphia Theatre Company. I received her BA in Theatre from Temple University with a minor in Art History.

I've not only been an actor, but a director/producer, as someone who has been on both sides of the table I know what directors, casting directors and producers are looking for as well as knowing what it is like to audition as an actor.

Outside of acting I've worked for various sectors as an administrative assistant and recruiter for a medical device consulting firm

Everyone is different which means that everyone’s career will take a different path. That is why I not only offers actor coaching, but career coaching; resume/headshot review, where to submit, protocol before and after the audition, how to self-produce your own work, and anything else you may need or want to know.

I love working with students and finding what works for each individual. Actor training is amazing for public speaking, critical thinking and problem solving. I love watching my students grow and expand.

I have been teaching and coaching actors for 20 years. My students work professionally on stage, TV and film. Within the first few lessons, you will understand how to create a character. Soon, you will have the skills to book a role. I specialize in method acting, but draw upon my experience at The Second City (improvisation) in Chicago and other training I have had. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels; I can't wait to meet you!

About Jeremy
Are you working on a part for a play or film and need assistance? If you are new to acting, I can teach you what it takes to be an actor and how to bring a character to life. Do you need to prepare for an audition? Do you want to learn about the business of acting? Script analysis? I can help.

I can help with your audition for performing arts high schools. My students have gotten into the schools of their choice.

If you have training or are a working actor, I can help take you to the next level.

I am a working actor, published playwright and award winning filmmaker. I graduated from the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where I majored in drama. I taught Method Acting, Acting for Camera, Improvisation as well as other classes at The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York. My
students, both at the Institute and from private coaching, have appeared in independent stage and film productions, TV shows, commercials and Hollywood films.

Acting is the art of bringing a character to life. I use the Lee Strasberg Method, my original exercises and a fun and serious demeanor to help actors express themselves as artists and gain the confidence and skills they need in order to book acting jobs.

My book, "The Young Actor's Handbook", is published by Applause Theatre and Cinema Books. "The Young Actor's Handbook" ignites the beginning actor's creative soul with acting exercises, acting theory, writing exercises and insight into what it means to be an actor. This is a pragmatic manual that guides and informs the young actor, beginning actor, novice acting teacher or anyone who wants to understand acting.

"Jeremy Kruse's book, "The Young Actor’s Handbook", leads the young actor on the correct path. Jeremy is an experienced acting teacher who has broken down acting in an academic way while nurturing the soul of the actor. He understands the emotional aspects of good acting. I commend Jeremy and believe he has accomplished quite a feat in writing "The Young Actors Handbook." - Vincent D'Onofrio

Normally, I don't write reviews for teachers until a couple of months have passed, but I acquiesce as TakeLessons keep on spamming me to write a review. Unlike other reviews, I'm not going to act as an echo chamber for five-star reviews. This review is based on two months with her after ten one hour online lessons through Skype.

Let's start with the positives. Denise puts in a good amount of effort in teaching you. She's flexible with accommodating your schedule, and she tailors her lessons based on what your goals are. This is evident from her referring to her notes when beginning her lessons with me. She also isn't a clock watcher who makes sure your lesson ends straight on the minute unlike some other teachers.

Is she effective as a speaking voice teacher? So far, yes there has been some progress made. Her methodology might be a bit more different than other speaking voice teachers I studied under. Other teachers focus more on the phonetic sounds, while Denise linger more toward stretches probably due to her dancing background. If you don't like Yoga type of stretches, you may be in for a bad time.

Keep in mind that due to my focus on developing a voice for acting, I'm also not having a pure speaking voice lesson as my lessons are intertwined with monologue work too. If you wish to take speaking voice lessons for public speaking, your mileage may vary.

So why a one-star deduction? Denise at the start can be pushy with trying to sell you more lessons. I mean it goes without saying that of course you'll see improvements faster if you can devote more time to any class, but time and money are factors that everyone should always consider. Let's be frank, private lessons on TakeLessons aren't cheap (unless you're rich of course). I was annoyed when she repeated her tactic three times, enough that it affected my decision to nearly not renew my monthly lessons with her.

She did cease when it seem like I wouldn't budge. Nevertheless, the pushiness did leave my experience a bit tainted, which made me question her sincereness with her excitement and positive reinforcement at times. I continue to give her a chance though because I do feel there's an ongoing improvement with my speech and line delivery. Also because we get along despite being complete opposites in some ways (which seem to frustrate and intrigue her). Despite being my teacher, I see her as a peer in a way because of how close in age we are, but I digress as this review is about her effectiveness as a teacher.

I would recommend giving Denise a try if you’re an actor seeking a speaking voice teacher. In person lessons are still best, but she has proven to be effective as an online teacher despite being a tad pushy with having you buy more lessons from her.

Denise did an amazing job. She had great energy and helped get me more excited about learning the proper skills. I wasn’t able to continue classes at the moment but when I do she is the only person I will learn from. Was understanding of my odd schedule and very flexible which I appreciated very much.

As a professional actress currently recurring on CW's Black Lightning, I know what it takes to not only pursue this as a career, but also how nerve wrecking it is to walk into an audition room. After countless auditions, I have built my own system focused on BOOKING the role, and strategically aligning myself with the right opportunities. We will go DEEP into the work, and if you're a beginner, no worries, I can help you at any stage! The system I've put in place is a combination of acting/scene analysis technique I've learned along the way. I would love to teach you!

About Zsane
Hey! I'm a professional actress and writer that LOVES to craft authentic stories. I received my BFA from North Carolina A&T State University where I majored in Professional Theatre. I transitioned into TV/Film acting upon graduating, so I've been lucky enough to experience the best of both worlds.

The key to Acting is simple: Tell the TRUTH. It's how you access that truth in the most intuitive and human way that tends to complicate things. Also, being able to craft a compelling audition requires you to do more than just your standard acting. I can help to demystify the differences between run of the mill scene acting vs. auditioning. I will share my proven technique to help you BOOK the role, and if not, BOOK the room to create fans out of the Casting Director and/or Producer.

I use a proven system/technique that relies heavily on intu
ition and emotional drive. This exact system has helped me booked my recurring role on CW's Black Lightning, the critically acclaimed recent film The Hate U Give, and an upcoming HBO pilot. The goal is to get you ready to book whatever opportunity comes your way!

We will explore at a pace you are comfortable with, and every lesson will be tailored to your specific areas of development. We can also explore improv, cold reading and scene study. I am also able to teach on a variety of other topics outside of auditioning, regarding pursuing an acting career: Acting materials (headshot, resume, acting profiles, demo reel), Agents, Marketing, Mindset, etc.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Let's get started!
