My daughter enjoyed working with Lia. She was patient, fun and helped build my daughter's confidence when she made mistakes and needed to try again. She was an absolute pleasure to work with!

LIa is the right fit for my high school student. My daughter has been taking classic piano lessons since 4 years old. She has been looking for an instructor who will allow her to develop her creative side.

Lia customizes her lessons and has reignited my daughters love of piano.

Thanks, Lia.
Tony
Both of my daughters love to sing. We signed up for lessons so they could learn their favorite pop songs; one of my daughters also took piano. They've learned how to hit notes easier and how to properly warm up; Lia is great at finding fun ways to keep them engaged while also still learning. The combination of piano and voice for my youngest has been really valuable. I highly recommend Lia for your lessons!

I draw on a wide-variety of genres and styles to inform my approach to teaching songwriting. While my background is primarily jazz, I look to the best songwriters from the worlds of Pop, RnB, Rock and more to inform and address specific techniques and methodologies. I tailor my teaching to each individual student and their goals and learning styles. And I like to assign little bite-sized assignments, relating to a student's own material, to immediately apply our concepts straight-away. Overall my aim is always to keep FUN and raw, honest creative self-expression at the forefront of ALL I can do for a student!

Many students are satisfied learning covers, which is great, but the real fun and creativity is in writing your own music. Writing takes confidence and freedom and everyone has to start somewhere. I help new writers with laying down basic songs, and more advanced writers with nuance and innovation - how to borrow ideas from songs they love, use music theory to create harmony for lead melodies on guitar, piano, and voice

I also offer music recording on Garageband, guiding writers on how to select a beat, add tracks, and connect musical ideas. I've been writing and recording my music since 2004, which stretches from Pop and Country to Soul and Hard Rock. I share my process and allow writers to explore the process of artists they love to see the progression even the greatest artists go through.

Adam is a wonderful guitar instructor. He is very knowledgable and he is always calm, patient and very encouraging. He taught me a lot of ways to practice and enjoy music. Thank you Adam! I would highly recommend!

I took acoustic guitar lessons with Adam and he was a wonderful teacher. I had little knowledge of the guitar and felt I developed my skills quickly. Adam was patient, nice and came up with fun exercises and song selections. Would highly recommend Adam as a teacher!
Julie
Adam’s superpowers as a guitar teacher are commitment and a calm demeanor. It was clear from my first lesson that Adam was singularly dedicated to my advancement even at times when my dedication wavered. I was able to successfully learn a Death Can for Cutie song that I had loved for years (I will follow you into the dark). Though i had taken lessons in the past, i felt i had the most chemistry with Adam’s thoughtful approach to teaching guitar. Our lessons were fun and laced with lighthearted humor. I moved to NYC and Adam was 100% committed to ensuring our lessons continued via Skype. Unfortunately the move was a big life change that refocused my priorities. I wish that Adam lived in NY so we could continue playing together!

I have been teaching songwriting/composition since 1989
Students will have the ability to read and write musical notation fluently.
Students may work on whatever kinds of projects are of most interest to them. These could include writing pop songs; writing music for a school band, orchestra, or small ensemble; or writing music for themselves and/or their friends to play. Students are free to write in whatever genre/style they would like. I will work on how to notate musical ideas, how to structure a piece of music, and where to find inspiration, but the instruction will be more tailored to the student's specific needs. As with private instrumental lessons, students will be expected to work on their craft during the week.

About Kelvin

I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis. I am very comfortable with all aspects

My first lesson was very good. She took the time to explain and we progressed at a good pace. She explained things and showed me proper techniques to hold the violin and the bow. Overall the lesson was fun and exciting.
Rachel
I started working with Alyssa in person when she was teaching violin in Salt Lake City. Once she moved to Los Angeles I agreed to try the online lessons. I have found this method of learning to be very valuable. Alyssa has a unique way of teaching. While the traditional principles of violin playing are taught Alyssa includes mindfulness and breath in her methods. She also introduces improvisation and takes music beyond its notes on the page.
Maggie
Alyssa was very thorough and met my objectives.

"I met Keith at a job we had together once, he was a really laid back normal dude & we got along pretty well. A little later on I found he played music & gave lessons so I asked him for some. He was really helpful & nice, & now my songwriting abilities have gotten so much better because of him. Thank you Keith!"

What is refreshing about working with him is he is open to so many forms of music. As he states it, " music is music". it provides a fresh approach. I am very pleased with this expanded viewpoint."
