Lessons are specifically tailored to each student based on ability level, learning style, and goals. Younger children will focus more on technique and fun, but in every lesson it is my goal for my students to grow their own musical sensibilities. Above all, I love sharing with my students the joy that playing the guitar can add to their lives.

About Kevin
Every student deserves a teacher that is attentive, committed and above all highly competent. I can provide this to students of all ages. Younger students will be given the freedom to explore the instrument and music as they progress. Because of the many necessities of life, I recommend specific goals for adult students.

I love sharing the joy of music with my students, and would love to help you or your son/daughter find the music within.

***Background***
My initial studies were in jazz and other electric styles, and I performed in a number of varied ensembles. I graduated with a Master's degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. My main focus these days is classical music. I have performed in masterclasses with Manuel Barrueco, Denis Azabagic, and Dominic Frasca.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring blank staff
paper and other paper materials (music, exercises) to each lesson, as well as my guitar. I will bring a 1/4" cable for electric students. I expect students to bring their instrument and any accessories necessary. A music stand is required.

*** Specialties ***
My primary performing instrument is classical guitar, and I am well-versed in the literature. I love teaching jazz, rock, folk, or any other kind of music on the guitar.

wonderful books for ages 5 through Adult. Also a great way to sing and read music while playing an instrument. Can be taught to read music, may also learn by Tablature. Books can also take in your specific interests, rock, jazz, country, etc.

About Mary
Music degree from Lawrence University and Conservatory in Appleton, WI. Graduate work in conducting, piano, and vocal pedagogy at Westminster Choir College in Princeton. Also certified in Kindermusik for ages newborn to 7.

My studio, since 1993 is located in the back of my house and is in a family friendly location.

As my education originally was music education, elementary and secondary, I have gone on to be certified in teaching adults, both beginning and returning. There is so much piano and vocal educational material geared to the pre-school, the elementary, Jr-Sr high and Adult beginner and I promise we will have fun while learning.....

Anyone can learn an instrument and anyone can learn many different styles. Lessons will be geared toward your interests and goals, which we can work on at your lesson also.

The grea
test virtues of a music teacher are passion, patience, understanding, and communicating. You will experience this in the studio. Give yourself a treat of two months of lessons and I promise you will be playing and/or singing better than you expected.

Member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), NFMC (National Federation of Music Clubs),

I am generally easy going and laid-back and will work with you to obtain specific goals such as a piece you would really like to learn. I can be strict if assignments are not followed or if there is no progression; we need to analyze why that is. I use many teaching methods as there are many different learning styles. The series I am currently using are Faber, Alfred, and Celebrate Piano! for pianists. Many singers are in Broadway, Disney, and/or English Reliquary and Italian Arias. There are so many wonderful choices! I can guarantee after three months you will be playing some music you like, and you will be reading music, and able to perform if you wish (starting small). With singing you will have basic knowledge of proper posture, breathing, and increased range. I also so enjoy people and communicating so you will feel comfortable taking lessons, and I believe that is one major factor of success in learning an instrument: the student-teacher relationship And second for children, especially the young, is the parent-teacher relationship .

*** Studio Equipment ***
Studio: Yamaha baby grand piano, Kawaii studio upright and keyboard, Yamaha keyboard, recording abilities, computer software, couch and two chairs, parents can sit in on lesson. Also have computer programs for note learning, composition, as well as giving you apps to download.

*** Specialties ***
Different methods for different students. Piano: mostly Faber and Alfred series. "Prodigy": Aaron/Thompson series. I've also had graduate study in teaching the Adult Beginner! As I was a church music director 1994 till last September, I am very familiar with traditional and contemporary sacred music, learning and performing. If you also wish to combine singing and accompanying yourself on piano or guitar lessons can be tailored.

Ryan takes his time and tailors my lessons specifically to my level and to the type of music I’d like to play. He covers everything from the basics – like the proper way to hold the pick – to more advanced teachings like music theory. Ryan is flexible, patient, easy going, and he consistently teaches at a pace that I’m comfortable with. He provides take-home practice after every lesson and always has helpful suggestions any time I have questions. What I find incredibly helpful is that at the end of the lesson Ryan will run through the take-home practice on his guitar and let me record it on my phone so it’s easier for me to remember. When I’m ready to practice the next day I just pull up his notes and the video and I’m ready to go!

It’s obvious that Ryan has a passion for music, and it shows in his lessons. I would easily give him my highest recommendation.

If you want to get started with guitar, I'm the one you've been looking for. I'll get you started with basic theory, then I'll gradually move on to more advanced topics. I have a good background in this subject. I've actually taught this subject to a student who already had seven years experience; he didn't know how to put chords together in the right way. Guitar can be fun!

About Larry
Are you looking for a great tutor? I'm the one you've been looking for.

I've had 3 years of tutoring experience in the following subjects:

* Computers (Java, general topics, C++, C, HTML, application programming, and others)
* Math (from elementary math to algebra)
* Piano (from basic to more advanced)
* Guitar (from theory to more advanced)

I've had favorable reviews from my former clients, and I'll have competitive low rates as well. What are you waiting for?

I have taught group and individual guitar lessons for over 30 years. I love the guitar's unique sound because you can teach students to strum it with chords, use finger picking patterns, finger individual notes or a combination of all. There are many different styles of guitar playing but I love teaching the basics to give students a good foundation.

About Allison
My name is Allison and I love music! I went to Temple University, College of Music to learn how to teach music and I have been doing it ever since. I started playing music when I was 8 years old when I learned to play the violin. I learned to play the guitar and piano when I was 12. I also love to sing and I am currently a member of The Delaware Valley Opera Company and a guest chorister at a church in New Jersey. I have also played piano and keyboard as part of my church worship team for many years. I love many styles of music including classical, folk, pop and classic rock. I hope you will decide to learn music...it is a wonderful, life changing experience!

No matter your age or your perspective on music, I promise I can relate to you and get you learning the things you want to learn in a way that will make sense to you as an individual. I'm a lifelong musician and songwriter, and I'd love to get you started on a lasting relationship with your guitar, bass, piano, and the all-encompassing magic of music. Among many other things, I'd love to deliver to you: a strong foundation in music theory and technique, a customizable plan to target specific objectives that you may want to achieve, and opportunities to create and record music in my home studio. Whether you see yourself developing your musical sense as a cool talent on the side or something larger and more intense, let's get you nurturing that passion for music, truly thinking like a musician, and picking up very valuable skills.

About Ken
I'll want to know what brought you here, so let me first tell you what brought me...

Since my years as a wide-eyed teenager I've been writing, performing, and recording a variety of types of music. I'd enjoyed conventional lessons as a younger child, but music didn't all really click for me until I started exploring other instruments on my own, playing the music I really wanted to play, and figuring out how to create my own music.

That's great, you may say, but what about teaching music? Well, it starts with the fact that I ended up having to teach myself. The fundamentals I'd learned as a child gave me a nice skill in my back pocket. And that could have been enjoyable enough on its own - it certainly is for plenty of people who want to learn an instrument.

But in retrospect, I could have had a more fulfilling experience had my i
nstructors really tapped into something beyond the mechanics of an instrument. While I could correctly play the notes written on a sheet of paper, I received little insight on how to really "feel" the music in a way that might resonate with me.

Fortunately, I picked up some new instruments in high school and began a journey of self-discovery that continues to this day. And along the way I found that the more music that I wanted to make, the more things I needed to learn how to do.

By age 20 or so I'd taught myself to do a lot - playing instruments, writing music, recording and producing, and a whole lot more. As this was all happening, people noticed that I could do things with music that they wanted to do and that I was pretty good at explaining how they could be done.

So that's how I got my first students. A few friends and acquaintances wanted to learn, and I was happy to help them. This continued for a while, and I found that I enjoyed it as much as the students seemed to.

The twists and turns of life eventually took over - my own musical pursuits, making my way in the real world, and ultimately marriage and fatherhood - but raising my own child and coaching youth sports has really inspired me to more actively teach music to new students under more formal arrangements. That's what's led me to TakeLessons.

It's amazing to see someone have a "light bulb" moment and go on to do things not previously imaginable. And it really can happen with anyone at any age and any level. That's what inspires me. Along my journey I've experienced some great things and worked with some amazing people. Now I'm bringing it back home in hopes that I can help you start your own rewarding journey.
