supportive and encouraging

I found Zach through 'take lessons' after my daughter had a few years with an intense classical pianist. I want my daughter to have fun and appreciate music and not feel the intense pressure she was feeling with our previous instructor. Zach was the perfect choice. My daughter loves her lessons. Zach does take time off for his professional endevors. Good for him. He has always let us know and connected with us when he returns.

Excellent!

Our 12 year old daughter has been taking voice lessons with Zach for almost a year and he is absolutely amazing. He's taught her so much and made it so interesting for her. We HIGHLY recommend him as a music instructor!

Let's work a new monologue, prepare for an audition or scan some Shakespeare!

About Natalie
Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to check out my teaching profile!

Note: I work as the program director for a park district in south Evanston and am required to have a federal background check on file. Please let me know if you would like a copy and I will happily forward it to you!

A bit about me:
I am a working Chicago actress originally from Indianapolis, IN. I graduated from Ball State University with a B.A. in Acting. For three years I lived in Los Angeles pursuing opportunities in film and television. I am a member of SAG/AFTRA and with the help of my agents and manager, I worked on many t.v. shows including Numbers, Commander and Chief and McBride (starring John Larroquette). After realizing how much I missed being on stage, I moved to New York City. I spent two years performing off Broadway before finally landing i
n Chicago to attend graduate school. In 2013, I earned my M.F.A. in Acting from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Currently, I am the Director of New Works with The Arc Theatre . Additionally, I direct plays for other prominent theatre companies in the city. I am capable of teaching a variety of theatre skills, including classical techniques, performance of literature and speaking voice.

A bit about you:
YOU are a new actor, an experienced actor or "getting-back-into-the-swing-of-it" actor. YOU need help with an upcoming camera or theatre audition, choosing new monologues, developing a script, exploring different techniques, or understanding this fantastic business.

YOU are excited, scared and most importantly READY TO DIVE IN!

I am here for YOU!

*** Lesson Details ***
I am extremely laid back and open to trying new things. In a lesson, you can expect to bravely explore the world of acting in a safe, nurturing environment. I believe in the "YES" philosophy- anything is possible and everything is valid in developing a creative life. There are no wrong answers! Just millions of GOOD questions. Acting is DOING and through trial error, anyone with the drive and determination can be a successful performer. I will instill the confidence and skills you need to take the next step in your acting career- whatever that may be!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a growing library of books on acting, auditioning and play scripts. I am happy to loan you material and use any of my resources to further your learning.

*** Travel Equipment ***
We can both provide music, books and props as needed.

*** Specialties ***

The warmest teacher around

Natalie helped me with monologues for audition season this year and it's made all the difference! I feel more confident in the product I'm putting out there and more comfortable in the moment of the audition. She has a unique ability to be both creatively nurturing and extremely effective. She'll always be my go to acting coach!

Very helpful

I needed help with projecting and emoting with my voice for a reality TV shoot. Natalie was very helpful in teaching techniques to connect my breath and voice, relax and eliminate tension, and thoroughly warm up. These were very helpful. I went from being anxious on camera to having fun and looking forward to more. Highly recommended!

Supportive and dynamic acting coach!

Natalie coached me on my monologue for a grad school audition, and she was wonderfully responsive. She cultivates a teaching environment of comfort and productivity right from the start with a full vocal and physical warm-up. When I began working with my prepared piece, I felt relaxed and supported. Natalie's suggestions were growth-oriented and ensured my performance communicated a meaningful journey. Her follow-up emails after each session built upon the work done in studio with reminders and actionable tactics.

These lessons are suited to those who want to develop their ability to enter an audition room with confidence and charisma and get the job or role you've prepared for. The most important thing to remember about auditioning is that the people behind the table want you to be the right person for the job as much as you yourself want the job. These lessons will be most useful to those auditioning with a monologue or cold reading sides. If you are not working towards a specific audition, we can work on broad spectrum auditioning and mock auditions. These lessons are available to any age and experience level.
**I can work with those who already have pieces in mind that they'd like to practice on as well as those who need help finding a monologue.

This is the first step in beginning or continuing a creative journey that will not only make you a better artist but a better person, as participation in any art will do. I am all about finding out how music and theatre and film and, really, any artistic medium can help us communicate better, unveil new perspectives, and foster a more open, generous, accepting, and passionate relationship with the world around us.

I've been an artist in many different capacities spanning many different mediums including theatre, film, and music as a teacher, director, actor, writer, and production/project manager. I am currently pursuing my MFA in Theatre Education at Boston
University in the fall. I also have received a Master's Degree in Theatre Arts from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and a Bachelor's of Science in Film and Television from Boston University. I currently teach at the college level such classes as Speech Communications and Acting & Performance 1. Both classes address the needs of non-theatre majors, and help find entry points into the work that help introduce them to the medium and introduce skills that are applicable to their own work and life. Specifically, we address confidence in public speaking, and how to navigate storytelling as a powerful communications and public relations tool. My most recent adventure was performing in Tony Award Winning director Darko Tresnjak's production of "Romeo & Juliet" at Hartford Stage. I will be performing in Jim Petosa's production of "Good" at New Repertory Theatre in October 2016. As a directed, I recently spearheaded Will Eno's "Tragedy: a tragedy" at the BU School of Theatre. And as a production manager, I've been working consistently with Commonwealth Shakespeare Company since last summer when I was associate production manager for "Romeo & Juliet", the free Shakespeare on the Common production.

PRESENTATION COACHING
These lessons have a wide range of applicability. Presentation coaching can be useful for corporate executives for in-house presentations within the workplace as well as speeches for conferences and other venues. I've also been helpful for students and teachers looking to improve their school presentation skills as well as their ability to have greater confidence in seminar settings. We will use highly accessible exercises to work on awareness, listening, textual analysis, and public speaking.

THEATRE AUDITION PREP

Thanks!

Approaching Shakespeare's text from an actor's point of view is the best way to understand and engage with the vitality of Shakespeare's language. Shakespeare embedded clues for his actors to unlock the meaning and emotion within the words. By learning a few fundamentals, students will physically connect with Shakespeare's text and be able to make strong character choices. Whether you are a student studying Shakespeare as literature, an actor wishing to work on classical texts, or a litigator or executive wishing to improve your public rhetoric, studying Shakespeare in performance is incredibly valuable.

About Michael
Michael L has been a working actor in Theatre, Film and Television since 1998. Since graduating cum laude from George Washington University he has dedicated himself to teaching and practicing the craft of acting. Michael was a classical acting fellow at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington,DC under the artistic direction of Michael Kahn. There he honed his classical acting skills and earned his equity card later becoming an affiliated teaching artist with the theatre. He has performed there as well as many of the country's finest regional theaters including: The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Arena Stage, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Geva Theatre Center, Washington Shakespeare Company and most recently Actor's Playhouse in Coral Gables. Michael has appeared on television in numerous commercials and the Fox Network's dr
ama "Past Life" and has acted in many independent films. While in DC he was the Drama teacher at Fillmore Arts Center, a public magnet school for the performing arts, teaching children from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Michael is currently acting in Nickelodeon's new series "I Am Frankie" debuting this fall. He enjoys teaching both adults and young people as well as caring for his own spirited child.

30 years of experience in theatre, television, commercials, voice overs and Indie films. I started coaching other actors in 2014, focusing on techniques for on-camera acting and film audition coaching. I have the inside scoop on how the professional acting world works and I help prepare all students for the challenges that come with the biz. One pager perk is that I am also a Casting Director for commercial, television and film projects in the Midwest. I'm always talent scouting.

About Jonna
When I moved back to Springfield, MO from LA a few years ago (Because the schools are better and my family is here), I immediately noticed a desperate need for film acting education. We have good theatre programs in town, but most of the actors weren't quite aware of how to transition that for the screen. I've been blessed to have a lot of practice and education for on-camer acting, so I decided to share what I know.

It's been a cool adventure learning how to teach, especially since I'm still a working actor. I get to take my own advice and see if works. I have primarily adult students in my weekly classes as well as private lesson students, and they have been brave enough to try many new things. We explore all of the popular techniques to find what works for us. Acting is a very special craft for strong people.

I tell all of my stude
nts, "You have to be STRONG if you want to tell the stories of the human condition." My first piece of advice to help you become a great film actor is: DON'T SHOW ME HOW YOU FEEL. JUST FEEL IT.

I love people and I'd love to work with you.

Let me help you act truthfully and passionately! I have studied many acting methods, but my specialty is the Meisner technique. Meisner helps actors connect with the reality of the scene, and to live truthfully in the moment. I received my M.F.A. from a Meisner school, and I have coached many students in scene work and monologues using this technique. I combine this with the other techniques I have studied into coaching that is unique and tailor-made for you. I believe acting should be a joyful and enlightening experience.

About Jed
I'm an actor, teacher, singer, and voice over artist. I have appeared in plays, TV shows, and national commercials. I love teaching, directing, and coaching actors of all ages. I believe that everyone can and should have at least a taste of acting on stage. It improves our confidence and empathy.
My alma maters are Muhlenberg College (B.A.) and Florida State University (M.F.A.) When I'm not acting, I can be found singing in professional choirs, including the Scarborough Presbyterian Church and the New York Holiday Choristers. I also teach regularly at the Hackley School. My favorite acting class lately is the one I teach inside a medium security prison.

Jed, is an AMAZING acting instructor. I was working on a project and I only had two weeks to prepare for it. I hadn’t acted since I was 19 so naturally I was nervous. From my first meeting with Jed I knew I had made the right choice. He began to teach me the foundations of the Meisner method. He critiqued me every step of the way and his feedback was invaluable. When I stepped on set on 2/7/18 I had become the character. I felt confident and ready to deliver my lines. I can honestly say that I owe it all to Jed. My performance that day was because of all he did to help me prepare. So you’re probably wondering how I did... Everyone was truly impressed with my acting abilities and I nailed the role! Thank you Jed for helping me transform into an actor in just 5 lessons!!! If you are looking for an Amazing acting instructor who can help you meet your goals hire Jed! You will thank me later!

Acting lessons with me are always based individually on the student. I do not have a "typical" lesson plan because I believe each student learns differently. As an actor who has a BA in Acting and currently receiving an MFA in acting, I know how vital it is to have someone you can trust and learn from. I believe everyone has the ability within themselves, my only job is helping them see it!!! I never "tell" someone what to do, instead, I ask questions that lead them to the answer they already know. Lets Play!

About Kenna
I am an Artist. To be more specific I am an actor. My career in acting really started in my undergraduate career at California State University, Long Beach where I received my BA in Acting. I was fortunate enough to have professors who believed in me and inspired me to audition for graduate school. I now am getting my MFA in Acting at California Institue of the Arts, which is one of the top 20 graduate programs in the world.

Why would you want to work with me rather than the hundreds of other qualified teachers? I promise to listen. I promise to see you. I promise to invest in you.
