I took drawing lessons many years ago and have been practicing since then. I can help you get all the concepts and foundations to continue mastering this skill.

Age-Appropriate areas of instruction include:
-Painting Techniques such as Layering, Mixing, Washes, and Glazing.
-Understanding Composition.
-Understanding Color Theory: Opposites or “complementary colors” on the color wheel; Painting with medium tones, so that highlights and shadows can be applied easily. Using multiple colors equals “depth” and “interest.”
-How to Mix Paint: Mixing using the palette knife, brush, on palette, or on painting.

Learning to draw is the best foundation for any artist. I teach my students through various techniques and assignments to understand form and spatial relationships. This tool is what many artists refer to as the ability to "see." This will not only improve your accuracy but your overall skills as an artist in other medias also.

Private and Group classes offered.
Experienced drawing teacher of 7 years, I have taught students of all experience levels. You will receive notes and step by step instructions during your art class. . If you would like some homework to help you improve quickly I can also send an email after class with instruction. Wether you want to learn how to draw a human figure or photorealistically, I have the steps to get you to your goal! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of drawing skills. I specialize in figurative, portraits or animals. I have been trained in classical methods that get results, looking forward to meeting you!

GROUP CLASSES: I also offer group classes for friends , student and co workers .

I've been drawing all my life and still enjoy it. It's a great pastime and a creative way to express yourself. You'll need, pencils, large pad of paper and to keep a sketch book for this class. You'll learn different techniques and ways to see things on paper. If you want classes in the Manhattan Beach library, let me know, and give me some time, so I can schedule a room there in advance.
