Experienced teacher of 7 years, specializing in all levels of violin! I also teach beginner/intermediate viola and cello students. All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be playing songs in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of note reading, music theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and more. Let's get started!

About Emily
I am a strings teacher, teaching privately for 7 years and in public schools for 6. I graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education, with a concentration in violin.

Strings students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. I teach students strong foundational techniques in order to develop their abilities. I use a mixture of both technical exercises and repertoire to help any student to play with freedom, confidence, and expression.

I teach violin, viola, and cello students of all different ages and experience levels. I studied violin for 18 years, and have played viola and cello in numerous performances. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student. I look fo

Violin is so much fun to play and teach! Technique, rhythm and confidence building are my main focuses for violin students. In addition to performance skills, I aim to give all my students musical knowledge about theory, music history and musical terminology.

About Amanda
Hello, I'm excited you're thinking about music lessons! It is my passion to provide high-quality education to young learners. I obtained my B.M. in Violin Performance from West Chester University. I have been furthering my teaching skills as an active American String Teachers Association member, through Suzuki training, and pedagogy study at The Juilliard School during the Starling-Delay Symposium on Violin Studies. I also perform locally and love playing for opera and musical theater.

I work to help students create and achieve their musical goals. I pride myself on clearly communicating lesson topics and assignments so every student knows exactly what must be practiced for the upcoming lessons. Teacher clarity helps students practice in a more focused fashion so they can improve as steadily and quickly as possible. I ensure my student
s get the most out of each lesson by using a variety of teaching styles and tools. Students with longer lessons (45 minutes or more) can benefit from music theory workbooks and games which I incorporate into the lessons. My goal is to make every lesson fun and challenging for my students!

Hard-working students will prepare for auditions with local youth orchestras.

I offer multiple performance opportunities each year. In the past I organized formal spring recitals where all my students gained the experience of playing with an accompanist in a recital hall. Special opportunities include honors recitals and Duet Day performances. Of course, these opportunities change from year to year, but the emphasis is always on giving a performance to be proud of!

It is my pleasure to recommend Amanda as a violin instructor. On very short notice, she enthusiastically agreed to help my daughter prepare for a middle school orchestra audition, even though we were not on Amanda's roster of clients. In two 30 minute private lessons she was able to acclimate my daughter to the two challenging audition pieces, address questions about technique and also taught her how to tune her instrument. Thanks to Amanda's excellent teaching and flexibility, my daughter had a great experience for her first audition.

Strings have always been a great love of mine--violin takes dedication of posture to be comfortable, and a comfortable sound is a beautiful one. It is important that you select a teacher who can really push you towards a beautiful tone and musical expression, as well as one who knows what they are doing regarding the fine details of technique.

About Ari
My name is Ari Fiekowsky, I'm 22 years old.

Currently I'm studying at Kean University, for a degree in Music Education K-12 with Teacher Certification.

I am a 3.8 GPA student who has been studying cello since I was 8 and piano since I was 3, and the other strings instruments since I was 15. I have always been good at all subjects, but have had a love for music. Music can benefit the brain in incredible ways, especially for children! Please ask me about these benefits and I can give you supportive academic research.

I have a permissive teaching style that is sensitive to developmental disability and mental illness, but also can be quite harrowing and strict if you have the desire to truly become a great musician. I practice all my instruments daily--I expect my students to do the same. :)

My specialties are strings, music the
ory, and piano. I'm very energetic and expect genuine effort from all my students. I try to make things fun, so I hope you try too!

She has over 16 years of experience in playing the violin and has won multiple competitions and awards over the years. Jenny completed her undergraduate work at Duke University in May 2016, earning degrees in global health, sociology, and ethics. Although she did not major in music at Duke, Jenny was fortunate to have been quite involved in the music department. She studied violin with Professor Eric Pritchard of the Ciompi Quartet for four years, and she was a two-time winner of the Duke Symphony concerto competition. She also served as concertmaster and president of the Duke Symphony Orchestra, directed by Professor Harr
y Davidson. During her senior year, Jenny was nominated by the Duke music department as their representative for a prestigious Louis Sudler Prize. Upon graduating from Duke, Jenny was awarded the Julia Wilkinson Mueller Prize for Excellence in Music, a Benenson Award in the Arts, and graduation with distinction in music. She was also honored to perform a solo for Duke University's board of trustees, including president Richard Brodhead and Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Continuing her music studies in the past two years, Jenny has participated in several highly selective music festivals and workshops, including the Luby Violin Symposium, the National Orchestral Institute, and the Emerging Artist Fellowship Program at Garth Newel. Most recently, Jenny has performed in the first violin section with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra, the Central Pennsylvania Symphony, and the Hershey Symphony. In addition, she studied with Dr. Eduard Schmieder, the distinguished Laura H. Carnell Professor of Violin at Temple University's Boyer College of Music.

In 2017 and 2018, Jenny performed for several invitation-only corporate events, including the Pennsylvania Bar Association's annual dinner, a private concert for Keith Wargo (managing director of Mizuho Americas), a Tesla Drive event hosted by Offit Kurman, the Arts Against Bullying Gala hosted by FSP Against Bullying, an Awards Banquet hosted by the Dauphin County Democratic Committee (featuring keynote speaker Julian Castro, the Housing & Urban Development Secretary under President Obama), as well as the National Healthcare Symposium hosted by Geisinger Health. The Geisinger symposium was attended by distinguished guests such as Hillary Clinton, Dean Ornish, Gail Wilensky, Judy Faulkner, Thomas Lee, Howard Dean, Governor Wolfe, and Ezekiel Emanuel.

Outside of music, Jenny continues to explore her diverse interests in clinical research, global health, social justice, filmmaking, writing, and education. Jenny has designed and taught an official Duke course on HIV/AIDS for several semesters, as well as having served as a writing tutor and teaching assistant for several courses at Duke.

Feel free to contact Jenny for more information.

I am currently a student at Bryn Mawr College. I teach violin and viola lessons. I have played the violin and viola for 12 years and over the course of my 4 years of teaching, I have taught over 15 students on both violin and viola. I usually work with children or teenagers and I can teach someone who has never played an instrument before as well as intermediate players. I use a variety of books that teach theory, rhythm and playing songs so the student gains confidence in preparing and performing "performance ready" pieces.
At college, I am principal viola of the Bryn Mawr-Haverford Orchestra and I also am part of a chamber music group. In high school, I was in the Maryland All-State Orchestra for four years and was in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO), one of the most prestigious orchestras in Maryland, for four years. My students improve significantly since when I first meet them. One of my first students whom I now give Skype lessons to successfully got into one of the best orchestras in the DC area and is now principal (1st chair) of
the viola section of that orchestra. I use a comprehensive set of books that teach theory, rhythm and pieces that I use to teach students how to prepare and perform "performance ready" pieces.
