I am a Cleveland native who knows first hand what awesome impact music can make. I started singing at two with my dad. I attended Rainey Institute and then got accepted to Cleveland School of the Arts, where I majored in vocal music and minored in drama. For the last 15 years, I have had the honor of exploring the world of music with pre-k to adult students. I have enjoyed creating arts curriculum for schools and summer camp programs. I am a living witness that the world of MUSIC can change a life. I look forward to sharing this world with future students and creating opportunities through music for them to SHINE!
*** Lesson Details *** I tailor the music curriculum to each student. I want each student to develop their musical skills by improving breathing for vocalist, perfecting sight reading for pianist, overcoming shyness, master
ing stage presence, memorizing music pieces, learning theory, and above all having FUN. I want each student to SHINE! Students are offered performing opportunities.
*** Studio Equipment *** The Shore Center Studio includes a keyboard in a private music classroom. Seating is available.
*** Travel Equipment *** The student is expected to provide a piano or keyboard for lessons.
*** Specialties *** I tailor make the sessions to the students. I specialize in the genre of gospel and inspirational music.
*****I don't have a current background check through take lessons but have an active ongoing background check through another employer ******
I've been teaching and performing professionally for over 15 years. I have my BA in music and business. I have had some amazing experiences along the way. I've worked with world renowned vocal coaches, sang at Carnegie Hall, and played on various cds to raise money/awareness for charity projects. I'm grateful for all of this, but I love working with students on their music most of all. It delights me to see a student have an "aha" moment where they realize that they have what it takes to be great. I'd love to work with you, but if I don't I hope you reach your goals and have fun doing it ! ~ Carrie Jo ~
*** Lesson Details *** I'm a laid back teacher but you will definitely learn
a lot. I just believe if it starts to not be fun, what's the point? Music isn't just about perfect theory and note placement it's about enjoyment. That's why I tailor make every lesson specifically based on my student's goals. I have students that like a more traditional approach so I use standard method books with them. I also have students that want to learn how to play by ear so we use a less traditional method and I teach them chord structures and how to move around easily on their instrument. My favorite thing to teach is vocal lessons but I love teaching piano and guitar also.
*** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio lessons are taught on an upright piano or acoustic/electric guitar. Student should bring own guitar. No pets. Waiting room out front for parents.
*** Travel Equipment *** They need their own instrument.
*** Specialties *** I've performed at Carnegie Hall and I've had the opportunity to work with world renowned vocal coaches. I offer that as well as techniques that I've developed to help you reach your goals quickly and with great skill !
Carrie is great! She is very patient, positive and encouraging. We have three members of our household taking lessons from her, and she tailors the lessons for the individual goals, levels and interests of each of us.

It was awesome! Great experience with Carrie and she got me playing within our first lesson! Couldn't be happier!
MUSIC LESSONS: Whether I am playing salsa, solo classical piano, in a jazz ensemble, or a concert band, I am ALWAYS having fun doing what I love, and I want you to have the same experience. After moving to Philadelphia ten years ago to study at Temple University, where I received my Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, I have had many great opportunities to play all types of music with all types of people. While my passions are in jazz music, composing, and arranging, my varied experience helps me pass on the fundamentals necessary to becoming a great musician while also adapting to your goals, needs, and musical preferences.
*** Lesson Details *** I aim for students to leave each lesson eager to practice and explore, and to come back with questions and stories of their progress. To that end, I work hard to tailor lessons to every
individuals interests and goals. Sometimes this means arranging, transcribing a recording, or even composing something new for my students. Additionally, in each lesson, I balance technical skills, ear training, and music theory to assure that each student walks away a complete musician, all structured around your musical goals.
*** Travel Equipment *** The student must provide their own instrument and assigned method books. I will provide a music stand if necessary, and other useful instructional tools (metronome, tuner, etc.)
*** Home Studio *** I offer lessons in my home located within walking distance of Broad Street in South Philadelphia, near the Tasker-Morris subway stop. I am equipped with a well-playing upright piano and plenty of space for musical activities. There is ample street parking in the area during the afternoon and early evening, and our living room is available to parents while students take their lesson. Students who travel to me for lessons gain all the benefits of performing on a piano, rather than an electric keyboard, and have access to many more resources that I am able to offer from my home, such as recordings and method books.
*** Specialties *** I specialize teaching "late starters" (teens and adults new to piano) fundamentals in music in a fun and exciting way that will have you playing the music you love quickly.
For brass instruments, I am able to help brand new beginners build up their sound and facility through simple exercises that will have them astounded by their progress.
MATH: I use my years of classroom teaching and Master's degree in math education as experience to help guide you to the success you are seeking. I am able to tailor sessions to your specific needs with a few key points in mind:
- helping you catch-up, while also preparing you for what is ahead - balancing practice with conceptual knowledge and application - using research-based techniques to maximize your learning
I am a patient teacher, and well-equipped to explain tough topics in multiple ways. I like to use visuals and objects with simple examples to help my students really understand a concept before we try harder material. Total understanding and confidence is my goal for you.
My personal interests in mathematics are problem solving, puzzles, and combinatorics (think "How many different outfits can I make with all the clothes in my closet?"). If you're looking for an addicting puzzle to try, I suggest KenKen to all my students.
First off, I want to mention something that potential Philadelphian students should be aware of. I can only go to certain sections of the city, and I can only give you lessons on weekday afternoons between 12-2pm. Sorry, no evening classes. I'll need time to travel between New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Actually, I prefer students in South Jersey. Those students can have lessons in my available time frame.
Now, a little about myself. Are you looking for a great tutor? I'm the one you've been looking for.
I've had more than 3 years of tutoring experience in the following subjects:
* Computers (Java, general topics, C++, C, HTML, application programming, and others) * Math (from elementary math to algebra) * Piano (from basic to more advanced) * Guitar (from theory to more advanced)
I've had favorable reviews from my former
clients, and I'll have competitive low rates as well. What are you waiting for?

It was my daughter's first contact with professional acting.
She has been talking about being an actress for quite a while now, so we decided to let her take a few lessons to see if she likes it.
Ollie was really comprehensive of our needs and made us see the big picture of that world... just what we needed, to start walking into that direction on the right path.
My daughter had a wonderful time with Ollie.

I booked 4 acting sessions with Ms. Ollie for my daughter. Ms. Ollie did a phenomenal job starting from scratch, coaching my daughter for her up coming audition. My daughter had no acting experience, she was shy, and soft spoken but in just 4 short days, Ms. Ollie turned her into a confident, outspoken young actress. My daughter nailed her audition thanks to Ollie!! I will highly recommend her as your acting coach.

I am a college level jazz musician.
My primary instruments are jazz guitar and upright bass.
Growing up I have always wanted to sing but never could find a qualified teacher.
Luckily, after extensive research online for vocal teachers I discovered Kara.
I have been taking lessons with her for a while now and she's wonderful.
I always have many questions for her in my lessons and she always has a knowledgable response.
I feel like I'm progressing and finally learning how to sing properly with someone who knows their stuff.
I would highly recommend studying with her.

Hello I am passionate about teaching software development and coding skills to those who are eager to learn it. Come with me on a journey that you have never experienced before and learn the vast world that is computer programming.
I am a graduate of Temple University with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. I love to have fun and teach (mostly at the same time!), and always want to make sure my students are comfortable.
Math students can expect a fun, engaging environment, with multiple opportunities for growth and many questions. Each student is unique in their own way and I love meeting students where they are, building from there. I like to build off of prior knowledge in order to help them understand more complex ideas. Moreover, relating questions to situations/ideas they are familiar with will help with understanding!
I have experience tutoring and teaching students from ages 2, all the way up to 18! I currently tutor 6th-9th graders on Saturday mornings in History, and I was previously a Math teacher for 5th grade. During the week, I teach Pre-K in a
ll subject areas.
As an educator, I pride myself on making sure my students are confident in their work and reach their fullest potential. Having fun, making sure the students are relaxed, and a comfortable environment are my 3 main goals for each session! My personal passions include Math, special education, and music!
"Rod worked with my daughter weekly for a couple of months leading up to the NYC state tests. With Rod's careful, concerted planning and diligence, my daug
hter's score went from 2.4 on the 7th grade Math state test, to a 2.8 in 8th grade, which equates to a move from below the 50th percentile, to between the 50th and 75th percentile. My daughter's in-school math instruction was chaotic and disjointed, and I attribute her improvement to Rod's intervention."
"Ms. Julissa did an excellent job with my daughter. She provided one on one tutoring, and her the math section of her SAT was increased due to math tutorin
g with Ms. Julissa. She also was a financial bargain compared to other tutors in the industry."
"Matt was very efficient, on time, got down to the task straight away and knew his subject matter. My son really liked him. I highly recommend Matt."
"Joanne is such a pleasure to work with. She is very caring, accommodating, and thorough. My daughter is enjoying working with her, and she is feeling mu

"Fawn's the perfect teacher and has a beautiful singing voice/speaking voice. She pushes you and makes sure that you get to your goals as quickly and effic
iently as you can. I can say 200% that I am now confident, take control of the stage when I speak and am effective when I speak to the public. I just started working with her again on a new project, and I can't wait to see what she brings out of me this time."
"Great instructor. Very organized, very insightful. 9/10"
