I am very passionate about technique, and so I make sure each student is set up for success by encouraging good posture and both left and right hand placements. I believe scales are vital, so each of my students does a variety of scales and rhythm exercises to ensure they are confident in counting as well as note accuracy and intonation. My mother is a piano teacher, so I grew up loving music, and in turn, falling in love with the idea of teaching! I care deeply about each student and want to ensure that they walk away from each lesson with new knowledge, whilst learning to love the violin and music in general!

Each lesson will be taught in response to current needs of a student but the following are the parts that make up an entire lesson:
- Technique
- Theory
- Music
- Practice
All together are basic fundamentals.
My job as a teacher is to help you find a place for music in your daily life and to make a practice time more of an experimental discovery play, than boring work. Once you find a key, it opens up a whole new world of communication.
As a private violin instructor, I believe that education is impossible without student’s motivation and passion. Perhaps you have decided to become a professional musician or maybe you want to play for your own enjoyment... Whatever your goals are, I can lead you there! Let's make it happen together because it is never late to follow a dream!
I recommend younger children travel to me for the best learning experience.

Charlene has done a wonderful job with teaching my 6 year old daughter the fundamentals of playing the violin using the Suzuki method. She has not only helped technically, but has also given my daughter the encouragement and patience necessary to develop her confidence with playing. Her high level of experience and passion for playing the violin is very evident. I would highly recommend Charlene to anyone looking to improve their performance with this instrument."

One of the most important aspects when learning how to play the violin is understanding scales. Learning scales will give you a solid foundation as you begin to explore new pieces of music. For instance, to play a G scale, start by playing the lowest G on your violin (open G string.) Then, ascend up in pitch and play the note …
