Each student is unique, and it's difficult to classify as "beginner/intermediate/advanced" since student objectives are unique as well. I'm interested in understanding where you are on the spectrum for a wide variety of skills, and will work with each student to move along the spectrum on skills that are important to his or her objectives.

About Cindy

Cindy has been making music for as long as she can remember. She was the assistant director of a synagogue children's choir by age 14 and has directed and sung with many community choirs and pickup groups since then. But it wasn't until 1996 that she discovered the autoharp and began teaching and

Cindy is an amazing fiddle teacher. I came to her for help in learning old-time fiddle technique. I wanted something more than just learning the tune. Cindy is helping me improve my bowing style, be a better listener, and achieve a sound I always dreamed of but didn't know how to do.

When it comes to teachers, Cindy is the best of the best. She'll lay out exercises to build your skill step by step. If you love old-time music and want to excel at playing the fiddle, Cindy's your gal.

Cindy is teaching me how to play Old Time fiddle tunes and technique in the cross tune of GDGD. I find her to be an instructor that is both process-oriented (providing information about the music background"what, when, who, why") and product-oriented (how to play/technique). She always begins lessons with a review from the past lesson and the homework provided that she records and sends to me. Her demonstrations are very clear and are at a rate and pace comfortable to me. She provides clear verbal cues throughout the lessons. Cindy is very strong in task analysis, breaking down each tune part, beginning with bowing. Her feedback throughout lessons is both positive-specific and corrective-specific. Every lesson is highly enjoyable and filled with encouragement. I am a retired college professor in teacher education, and I know about the constructs of what makes a high quality teacher - Cindy, demonstrates this to me. I feel fortunate to have Cindy as my fiddle instructor.

I feel really lucky to have connected with Cindy on takelessons.com during the pandemic. I actually cannot think of another time a teacher has taught me so much so skillfully - and it's all happening over the internet! Cindy has a fabulous sense of humor, she is honest and good at her profession. She's more than a fiddle teacher, she shares a music tradition with wisdom and care.

Music is a beautiful language, and I love being able to help others discover that beauty and express themselves through it.

After studying vocal music in college, my goal is to help students tap into their own musical personality, combining proper musical technique with personal style and expression.

We will begin with assessing where you are in skill level and musical knowledge, and lesson plans will be based on what you hope to achieve. My students will learn basic terminology, musicality, and proper vocal technique, allowing them to access their full range of talent. My goal is for each student to come away from each lesson with new knowledge and skills, and for them to find enjoyment through learning. Music is fun and exciting! Let’s start singing!

About December

Hi! My name is December and I am a 28 year old lover of music and crafts! Music was instilled in me from a very young age with piano lessons, and I grew up playing the piano, flute, and singing in choirs. I graduated from Grove City College with a degree in vocal music, and always looked forwar

Wonderful teacher! I've been taking lessons to improve my voice in speech and daily conversations with Chelsea for 9 months, and I've definitely achieved my goal. She made customized plans, design the class based on my goals, and adjust the class material based on my feedbacks. Now my voice is much more supported and I’m more confident in giving presentations. Overall, she is very professional, supportive and encouraging!

I truly can only say good things about working with Chelsea. I was quite nervous about taking piano lessons for the first time since my early childhood, but Chelsea was very encouraging and made me feel at ease. Even with pieces that I thought I couldn’t succeed in playing, her method of breaking down the piece and then putting it back together worked amazingly for me and I was able to learn to play those pieces. We had to unfortunately switch to virtual lessons midway due to COVID-19, but she was used to conducting virtual lessons and I didn’t feel any hiccups with the switch in lesson format. What’s also great about Chelsea is that she cares about you more than just as her student but you as a person - she actually helped me with a career change (granted it was related to music) and was very helpful in that aspect as well for me. She was everything I could have hoped for in a piano instructor and more!

Chelsea is a tremendous teacher, with sympathy and patience for my absurd schedule and difficulty reading music.

"“If you’re wondering if this person is an excellent music coach, she is. If you are wondering if she can help you improve your singing skills, she can. If you are wondering if she is gentle, intuitive, patient, funny, engaging and honest, she is. If you are wondering if she loves her work, I believe she does. I cannot say enough glowing and positive things about Nicole. I feel very lucky to have met her in my lifetime and lucky to have had her as a teacher and friend.
I met Nicole through my church. I remember watching her work with the children’s choir after a service one Sunday. She was amazing to watch. She was teaching them a song from the movie Moana. The song was in a different language and very difficult to learn in my opinion. It was “Foa’i-We Know The Way”. This is when I first saw Nicole’s gift. She was engaging, funny, clear, and happy, and I could just feel the love that the children had for her and that she had for them. She brought her whole wonderful self to that moment in time with them and she was amazing. They eventually performed that song for the church during a service and it was beautiful.
I have, since that time, joined the church choir where Nicole is now the music director and I have taken private voice lessons from her. She is the biggest reason that I have begun experiencing music again in a deep and meaningful way. I hadn’t sung for anyone in more than 30 years. That moment of seeing Nicole in her element, with the kids and with the music, gave me the courage to try something that I used to love to do, sing. I am grateful to her for all her talent and patience, and compassion, and caring and sensitivity as well as her kind honesty and her magical way of bringing her unique self to what she loves. She gives so much in her lessons and directing and it is clear that she loves doing what she does. She is gifted with an ability to gently bring out the hidden tender insides of people with humor and fun and love and music.
So, if you are wondering if she is worth the price of a lesson, I’d have to say, no. She is worth much more than that, but a lesson is a good place to start.”

"Francesca is, by far, the best voice teacher I have ever worked with. I cannot think of a single aspect of my singing that has not improved since I have begun working with her. My pitch is better. My tone is better. I am building a repertoire and I have more confidence in my abilities than I have ever previously been able to find. Not only does she inspire you to reach your potential as a musician, but also, your potential as a human. A true lifelong learner, her lust for life and learning is both palpable and contagious. She possesses a wealth of knowledge and resources that she readily shares. When you walk through the doors of BugByte, be prepared to be challenged, but in a space that never feels anything other than completely warm and safe. I feel so lucky to get to learn from this complete gem of a human. Thank you Francesca!"

How to Get Your Child Excited About Singing Classical Music

Is your child excited about taking voice lessons -- but ONLY wants to sing Taylor Swift or Bruno Mars? Read on as Pittsburgh, PA teacher Jennifer V. shares two secrets to introducing him or her to classical music without a fight...   Sometimes really cool things can get a reputation for being weird, boring, or even scary.
