Excellent technique is of the utmost importance. You will enhance your technique and artistry as well as expand your repertoire.

All music lessons at WCGA combine solid instruction in music fundamentals with the student’s personal interests and goals. Guitar students will learn chords, scales, terminology, and technique along with note reading, chord progressions, and theory. Teacher duets are common in our lessons to develop listening and timing skills. Our guitar teachers make sure every student understands the fretboard in order to execute challenging melodies and riffs along with chords that are suitable for popular, rock, jazz and other styles of music. Teachers craft each lesson to incorporate the fundamentals of guitar playing with the personal interests of each student.

Nick is the proud owner of West Chester Guitar Academy. Boasting 20 years of guitar study and performance experience, Nick has earned a reputation for quality, reliability and variety. He is a graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania 2011, summa cum laude, with a dual bachelor’s degree

My two boys ages 8 and 9 started taking piano lessons with Nick about a year ago and they love it! He is very professional, always on time, and keeps them entertained the whole time! Although they are progressing at different rates, Nick is always patient and encouraging. I highly recommend Nick and his teaching abilities!
Stacey
My two daughters have been taking guitar lessons with Nick for 2-1/2 years, both on acoustic guitar and electric guitar. He has even taught my younger daughter how to play the ukulele. Nick is an awesome guitarist teacher. My girls have learned so much from him - how to read and write music, bar chords, strumming patterns, music theory and all different genres of music (like jazz, classical and even reggae). Nick can listen to any song my daughters want to learn, then immediately put the notes down on paper and teach it to them. Under his tuition, they’ve performed solo gigs, in their school talent shows, and for and with their friends. My older daughter also plays electric guitar in a teenage rock band. Thanks so much, Nick!!

As part of a more expansive voice lesson, we will cover best practices for recording vocals in the studio. I have a microphone in my home studio and I can travel to a professional recording studio upon request.

*I teach with a heavy emphasis on vocal health. I encourage and teach complete body and mind awareness. I provide a "lifestyle" approach to singing and performing.

*My specialties include: helping students find a unique voice in their original music, prepping for auditions (most genres besides traditional broadway and opera), studio recording and ear training.

*Original Music: I have a piano, ukulele and guitar available for student use at my in-home studio. We can also work on editing your originals.

*Audition Prep: Especially for the working performer, we work on both voice and full body exercises to relieve anxiety and allow you to be in the moment on your big day. We aim to prevent any unnatural tension that may obstruct vocal production, flexibility and ...

My goal in taking lessons was to get back to singing after a long hiatus of lessons and performing... to reclaim my love of singing and break through my insecurity. Jessica's warmth, humor and expertise helped me do just that. I learned new techniques and had a full on very emotional breath through right in her living room!

She made me feel safe, confident, and helped me learn about my unique voice as well as shared her expertise in proper breathing and gaining vocal control and increasing range.

In sum, Jessica is an incredible vocal coach and I'd definitely recommend her.

Jessica is an amazing teacher! She not only understands all the technicalities behind singing but she works to your strengths and helps you cultivate both your inner and outer voice! I felt very comfortable with her and even got emotional a few times as it was such a powerful experience to be able to be vulnerable and engage in something I love so much. Jessica is the perfect mix between professional and experiential where you'll learn skills but you will also have fun doing it. I highly recommend Jessica for your musical needs. I look forward to my future sessions!! It also helps she is incredibly talented! An all around win and positive experience :)!

I spent twelve years studying classical piano under the tutorship for an classical pianist from Oberlin Conservatory and am currently on the piano faculty at Music and Arts in Franklin, TN.

You will get a excellent foundation for technique, style, sight-reading, harmony, and repertoire than will transfer to any other genre. Beginning students will start with a foundation for technique and apply these to basic repertoire, learn to read music, and play scales. Intermediate and beyond will build and improve on these skills to learn classical repertoire and more complex pieces.

"I have done several "music production" lessons with Matt online. He is extremely flexible, which has been a big plus for me since I live in Denver and use Studio One 4. Even though his expertise lies in Ableton, the lessons have still been helpful as a Studio One 4 user. Matt is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He has been able to satisfactorily answer all of my questions. During our lessons, we will work on songs that I am developing. He will listen to the track and suggest areas of improvement. Rather than just telling me what to change, however, he always explains why it would be helpful to make those changes. I've already noticed that I am independently making those improvements in my songs since meeting with Matt. While I can't speak for Matt's other areas of expertise, I would highly recommend taking lessons with Matt for any production/mixing needs!"

"As an adult with no former knowledge or lessons on piano, I was a bit hesitant to find a teacher. But after the first lesson with Troy I knew that concern was completely unfounded. Troy is great at helping the student progress at their own preferred pace, while still ensuring that each lesson provides significant progress. In my experience he is very flexible with an unpredictable schedule, and is reliable and consistent about communication. I would recommend troy for any piano student, especially those starting later in life like myself"

What is Timbre in Music and the Voice? Why is it Important?

What is timbre? Timbre in music is also identified as “color.” It is the quality and tone of a sound which makes it unique. Timbre is also defined as auditory senses produced by a sound wave. In other words, it refers to a sound’s characteristics that help you distinguish it from any other sound. For instance, you can recognize the difference between hearing your father talk versus your grandmother because they each have their own distinct timbre. What is Timbre? Understandin …
