Paige is a great teacher and a friendly person.

Paige Patrick, a Great Teacher

Paige is another wonderful teacher. Chloe has been with 4 teachers with Take-Lessons in the last 3 and 1/2 years.. They change because they are all Opera students at UT, and as soon as they can, off they go to New York City! However, that has been a very good thing!!! Chloe has learned something wonderful from each of them that the last one didn't teach. She could take anyone available but so far she goes with the teacher her last teacher recommends. She tried out two from the list when Anna left for New Your City to join one of Chloe 's previous teachers, Dixie.
Chloe picked Paige and loves the comfort level she has with .her. Paige is very personable, easy to get along with, and a geat teacher. Chloe has just told me that the new technique Paige is teachng her has improved her voice in her school chior. Chloe is delighted with this, because she was at the point where practice was the main improver of her voice and now because of Paige she has a new technique.
Chloe and I, (her mother), would highly recommend Paige Patrick.

I am a very fun loving person and believe in creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable to be themselves. At the same time I am a stickler for details and do not allow laziness. I believe a balance of fun with excellence has allowed my students to excel far beyond their own expectations. Good results takes HARD WORK! Please do not come to lessons with the expectation to sing like Beyoncé or play piano at Carnegie Hall after 4 lessons. Mastering your voice and instrument takes equal parts of time, hard work, dedication and patience.

My teaching style is individually based.
For vocal clients, I asses their strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan to build up their weak areas while helping them find "their own voice". I focus on breathing, intonation and control which I believe are the foundation of great singing ability. I use a classical Italian based program along with pop, R&B, jazz, and rock. I have vocal coached in many languages including Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.

For piano clients I focus on strength, dexterity and precision in fingering. I also help students learn to feel the music and bring their personality and touch to each piece they are performing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Tanisha currently teaches at her performing arts academy the White H Arts Academy. There are private instruction rooms and a lobby waiting area for parents and guests. Parents may also sit in the lesson room if desired. Private lesson rooms include a piano, speakers, and a music stand.

The White H Arts Academy also has two state of the art mirrored dance rooms with sound systems and wireless microphones for practicing stage performances or rehearsing for a big show.

My husband & I wanted our grand daughter to take lessons to learn how to breathe and sing without straining her voice. She has been learning under Tanisha's guidance for the past 9 months and there has been such a significant
improvement in her voice. To this day our grand daughter has preformed in two recitals under Tanisha's Foundation and she has become very confident when preforming and her voice is much stronger.
Tanisha is a very personable and caring teacher. We just love her!

With 20 years of broadway singing and a focus in it throughout her career, Liz loves sharing her vocal training with her students, and this is one of her favorite subjects to teach!

About Liz
After graduating California Institute of the Arts with a multi-focus on several aspects of music including African dance, Indonesian gamelan, songwriting, recording, classical voice and piano, folk guitar, and more, Liz had the excellent opportunity to teach theater to a local musical theater summer youth program. All summer, she taught class sizes ranging from 10 to 26 students of the ages 5-10. Her initiative later led to being hired at this local community theater. Along with this theater teaching experience, she has been teaching piano, guitar, ukulele, flute & voice lessons for over 10 years. Her students have gone from knowing nothing about music to learning and performing entire pieces on their own as well as even auditioning & for agents and becoming signed artists in Los Angeles. Liz knows that it is her place in the world to tea
ch music & spread positivity through her own music and would love nothing more than make learning music a positive and fun experience for everyone.

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach out of the Alfred's Piano course, but am open to trying out any music books you may already have in your home. I do expect my students to purchase the books they would like to learn out of and to have the material I have given them for homework ready, completed, and practiced by the time we have our weekly lesson. I recommend at least twenty to thirty minutes of practice every day, and will give rewards for having practiced well, and for performing well in our lessons. I would love it for my students to be clear on what they would like to learn, and I love using songs that the student enjoys to make his or her music learning process fun.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In my home studio, I have a full size Cable-Nelson upright piano, as well as two ukuleles, and two guitars (one acoustic-electric and one electric).

*** Travel Equipment ***
When I travel, I bring my own instrument that the student is learning on so that I can demonstrate, as well as a music stand if necessary.

*** Specialties ***

Want to sing that Broadway tune but just can't get that note to sound like the pro? Do you have an audition or performance coming up for a competition, scholarship, school, etc? I specialize in helping you find your voice and gain access to parts of your voice you may not even know you have yet. Come here to learn how to make the difference between all of the different qualities your voice is capable of. Let me help you find and improve your voice!

About Kimberly
I grew up in a household of 9 where music was always center stage. We would sing as a family in different venues and were often called the VonTrapp family. I have enjoyed singing and performing from a young age. I began studying flute at age 8, after scoring highest in the harmony listening exam and began formal violin lessons at the age of 9. I studied all genres including, fiddle, classical, musical theater and 20th century. I have continued to study violin since then and have performed in many orchestras and small groups, such as Honor Orchestra, the Paradise Symphony, the Yuba College Orchestra, Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society Orchestra and more. I have been concert master and first stand in many of these. I have also soloed in many and have been the first violinist in quartets for countless weddings and other events. I have also played
in numerous pit orchestras for musicals.
I have been in choirs and soloing since I can remember. I have performed and soloed in choirs such as the Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society, CSUS Chamber Choir, the CSUS Women's Choir and more. I have toured to Victoria, Montreal, Ottowa, Oregon and Washington. I have also been in opera productions such as The Magic Flute, Peleas and Melisande and Die Fledermaus (The Bat) with CSUS Opera. I am a recent recipient of the Saturday Club Scholarship, a prestigious award, and have won many competitions (some repeatedly) both vocally and with violin, such as the Tri-County Competition, Young Artist Competitions, and the California Soloist and Ensemble Competitions. Additionally, I have performed musical theater repertoire and have performed as lead in musicals such as Beauty and the Beast and Into the Woods. I have also soloed repeatedly with the Yuba College jazz band and at churches all around.
I have earned my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from CSU Sacramento. I have my Associates Degrees in both Music and Early Childhood Education from Yuba College. Additionally, I have obtained my certificate of completion of training from Music Together, an organization which trains teachers to teach Basic Music Competence (both in tonality and meter), and am currently teaching this curriculum.
I have been teaching music privately for over ten years to all ages, genders and abilities. Additionally, I have taught ages 0-5 years in a preschool setting for 7 years and am extremely familiar with developmentally appropriate practices for both preschool and school age, as I am a site supervisor at a child development center with a preschool and after school program. I have had many adult students as well and encourage adults to enrich their lives with music at any age! Additionally, I have experience teaching parent child classes and am familiar with how to teach to the particular needs of each family and student.
I'm extremely excited and looking forward to growing as a professional, both teaching and performing, in both the areas of violin and voice and to be instrumental in your musical growth too; I can't wait to share my passion with you and to ignite your passion for music too!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have been teaching since 2002 and have loved every minute of it! I teach all ages. I tailor my style of teaching to each student's goals and to what works for you. If you want to learn Taylor Swift music, I won't be giving you arias. On the other hand, if you wish to study classically, I have repertoire appropriate for you. I teach fiddle, classical, orchestral, 20th century and more for violin students and have experience with jazz, classical, musical theater, pop, religious, spiritual, choral, 20th century and more vocally.
For violin students, I use the Suzuki method as a pushing off point, a tried and true method used in many countries across the world, though I have other repertoire including fiddle, orchestra, small ensemble, solo, concertos, Christmas, and more. For vocalist, I start with the book, Adventures in Singing. I also have warm ups and exercises to keep you vocally healthy. I will teach you anything you want to learn! I also teach how to read music, theory and harmony, depending on your interest and tailored to your current skill level.
I am encouraging and knowledgeable. I will meet you at your current level, be that beginner, intermediate, or advanced. My students can look forward to being encouraged and growing through their time with me. I don't have preset ideas about where you should be in 3-6 months, nor do I have a one size fits all teaching style. Instead, I will work with you individually so that you will become the best musician you can be, meet your goals, and increase your enjoyment and appreciation for music.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in open space, upright piano, digital piano, music stands, metronome, violins available for rent, music, staff paper and computer

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my students to provide the instrument with all of it's accessories (ie shoulder rest, rosin, bow and case) along with the appropriate level Suzuki book. I have instruments available for rent. My voice students should bring their own music also. I have a piano in my studio along with music stands. Of course, every student must have a pencil and come ready to have fun learning! :)

*** Specialties ***
Suzuki, solfege, art songs and arias, reading music, fiddle, classical, healthy vocal technique and musical theater. I am very good at working with any age.

Kim can teach you or your child, no matter where you are!

I was 30 when I decided to rekindle my love for the violin. I hadn’t played since before YouTube was invented, and I was skeptical about learning violin online. By the first lesson, Kim had already corrected poor habits I didn’t know I had, just after hearing me play a few scales. She adjusted her teaching style to my personality so seamlessly that I felt I was just getting pointers from a dear violinist friend whose advice is always spot-on. Weekly practice never felt like work, because Kim tailored my assignments to my goals. Before I knew it, I was playing complex concertos I could never do in high school. I started out being able to play just one major scale. Within 10 months, I was in Suzuki Book 4!
I can’t say enough about Kim’s expert teaching skills. During a sight-reading of a very difficult piece, I became so frustrated that I wanted to stop the lesson and try again later. Kim encouraged me until I had gotten all the way through, and pointed out what I could learn from my performance. When I had time to calm down, I realized that Kim can do this for any student; adults, children, and adults whose inner child throws a tantrum when they’re frustrated by a musical challenge. :-)

Teachers like Kim are rare, and worth their weight in gold. I learned so much more than violin fundamentals through my lessons with her. I’m convinced Kim can teach anyone, of any age—even through an online platform.

I have extensive training in musical theatre and have been in several productions. I have a M.M. in vocal performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts and have extensive vocal training. I teach an open throat technique (appoggio) that allows the singer to sing with freedom, and access their entire range evenly. I also work with students to develop style, interpretation, languages, and acting ability.

About Benjamin
I have extensively studied vocal performance for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master of Vocal Performance Degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I currently work for a recording studio (Sound Summit Studios in Naperville IL) where I teach voice and help singers record their music in the studio. I have previously taught at The School of Rock in Indianapolis Indiana. I have administered vocal lessons to every voice type at all different levels. Several of my students have recored albums and are currently performing all over the U.S.

I have a bachelors degree in biology with a minor in art. After graduating college, I was a full-time high school biology teacher, volleyball coach, and director of the school musical. As a high school teacher, I learned first hand the kind of pressure and expectat
ions that are placed on students in order for them to succeed. In college, I was the head student researcher on a two-year lab project. I took several upper level science courses including: biochemistry, calculus, organic chemistry, calculus based physics, cell biology, anatomy, and physiology. I studied marine biology in the Virgin Islands and am CPR certified.

Voice lessons with me are fun and effective. You can expect to hear improved technique from day one, eventually reaching your long term goals. I begin every lesson aligning the students voice through various vocal warm ups and exercises. We then work together to pick repertoire that will suit the singer'€™s voice and they will enjoy singing. During a lesson we will also cover performance presentation, acting, diction, rhythm, musicality, style, and interpretation.

During tutoring you can expect a personalized plan based on your goals and aspirations. Since every student is different you can be assured we will come up with a plan that is designed just for you. I am a laid back tutor but will be sure to get the most out of you after our time together. Most students see at least a one letter grade improvement. My main goal for every tutoring session is student learning and comprehension.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, recording equipment, large collection of sheet music

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in helping students find their true singing voice.

Ben is absolutely amazing! He has an astonishing amount of knowledge and a way of explaining and teaching that makes sense to me in a way that no instructor has ever done. My personal goal, as impractical as it may seem, was to be able to sing with a healthy vibrato and by the end of our first 30 minute lesson, I was able to sing a note with a healthy vibrato. Something as simple as “feeling spinning a ping pong ball in the back of the throat” made me able to produce this beautiful and rich sound. This is a small first step but a huge achievement that I was not able to achieve with months of lessons with other instructors in the past. This gave me such a rewarding feeling and gave me so much ambition to practice and improve. Bravo Ben! Bravo!

He is able to explain techniques very clearly in order for me to improve my singing voice. It has not been easy for me but he is very patient as well as demanding in order for me to reach my full potential. I have and will continue to recommend him to anybody looking to improve their voice. Excellent instructor!

I take great care in each student I have. Making sure they have the best audition material! Broadway is very detailed. Not only do you sing, but dance and act as well! I include all of this in our lessons, but the primary focus is singing and truly using material that is appropriate for you and your performance. This is the most crucial aspect of any performer, choosing the correct material! And having a plethora to choose from. I keep our lessons fresh and exciting. We focus on learning new material quite often.

About Keith
I have been a professional performance coach and actor in Hollywood for the past 11 years. I coach and inspire the next generation of performers for stage and screen. My company is a performance arts company dedicated to educating and inspiring performers of all ages, including adults. Our lessons are offered both in person and via Skype. We provide instruction in all areas from comedy to drama, musical theater and straight stage. We are committed to producing our own cabarets, musicals, and cutting edge dramas as we are performance based. We believe you learn best by doing! In addition to expert coaching, we at times, share the stage with our students and give them the chance to shine with us in Broadway Cabarets and Musicals. With over 10 years of real-life experience as a working actor in Los Angeles and NYC, I have a wealth of knowl
edge in performing plus, almost more importantly, the business of acting. One wanting to become a professional performer must always keep in mind, acting is a business and an investment! Keith is fantastic! He expects the highest level of preparation and performance from me at all my lessons and thus pushes me to be a better performer every time. He tailors my lessons to exactly what I need - specific work for upcoming auditions as well as more general work to expand my repertoire. His lessons are also not not limited singing coaching - he also provides coaching in acting and movement. I feel like I have presented some of my best work to auditors as a result of working with Keith! And he does all this in the friendliest manner possible so that my lessons are always a great combination of fun, hard work, and inspiration.

My name is Tamara Herrera. I am a singer that graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor's Degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. I love teaching students what I have learned from amazing and talented people. I have gone through many music experiences like performing for Lionel Richie, opening Latin Grammy Award Winner: Alexander Acha's show, and performing at many other concerts/recitals of different styles and genres. I will not only teach you to sing, but also to interpret the songs and have a much better presence on stage. What is the point of being a good singer if you are too shy to sing in public? I will help you deal with that :).
I look forward to being a part of your music journey and pass on many great techniques!!

Tamara is the best! She's an amazing singer and is veeery good at teaching how it's done. She's also very sweet, respectful, easy-going, and fun, so her lessons are full of learning, while you also feel like you're making a new friend. I strongly recommend Tamara for anything that has to do with singing and teaching!

In my voice studio we will sharpen all of the tools relevant to the art form and have a great time doing it! We will explore vocal technique, breath support, diction, repertoire selection, stage craft, audition consultation, et al. All experience levels are welcome! I will be teaching out of my Alma Mater, the Academy of Vocal Arts, right off Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia.

About Ben
My name is Ben Wager and I'm a Philadelphia-born/raised/trained/based operatic bass-baritone currently in the midst of an international career as a soloist. I have been a guest at many of the world's major opera houses including Opera Philadelphia, The Dallas Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Los Angeles Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Den Norske Opera (Oslo, Norway), Minnesota Opera, Opera San Jose, Nashville Opera, along with my 2012 debut at Carnegie Hall. I've had the privilege of sharing the stage with many of the industry's most famous personalities and have performed over 50 named roles in seven languages.
Beginning my career in music as a bass-guitarist, I discovered classical voice while taking voice lessons myself. Along with over 15 years in the field of classical voice, I bring with me a background in pop/jazz/rock music. I
have the knowledge and experience to work with any student with any goal in mind.
Starting in 2018, I've decided to open my own voice studio out of the Academy of Vocal Arts and I couldn't be more excited!
My goal is to help voice students of any skill level sharpen their craft and attain whatever skills he or she needs.
