Trombone Lessons in Cornwall. Amazing Teachers.

I am a 22 year old senior music media major (emphasis in trombone) at the illustrious Norfolk State University. I study with the tuba player for the Virginia symphony and had a few lessons with one of their trombonists. I have been playing trombone since 2010, started off on trumpet before then. I play for 2 bands currently, Hot Gumbo Brass Band which is a New Orleans second line band and Infinite Flava which is an r&b group. At Norfolk state I have been in the jazz band, jazz combo, marching band (assistant section leader 2018 and head section leader 2019 for the trombone section), and symphonic band. I am well rounded in all facets of music. From classical all the way to the old tailgate trombone days. I have learned a lot from my mentors and think I am more than capable of getting my students on the right track. I am currently a trombone major at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and have studied with some of the best trombonists in New York. I have a lot of playing and teaching experience, having performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and many other venues around the city. I can teach you any style you are interested in and will make sure you have fun doing it.

Trombone:
A musical instrument in the brass family where sound is produced when the player's vibrating lips (embouchure) cause the air column inside the instrument to vibrate. Nearly all trombones have a telescoping slide mechanism that varies the length of the instrument to change the pitch. I will start with the basics. Proper breathing, reading, notes, rhythms, songs, theory, and improvisation.

Learning an instrument should be both fun and motivating. If something isn't working, we'll take a different approach to accomplish the same goal. Everyone learns in their own unique way, and lessons should reflect that!

I am a current band director focused on your student's success and mastery on the trombone. We will work on tone, range, and develop technique through a tailored lesson that will fit you or your student. I am also happy to supplement your child's band instruction and work on area/region honor band auditions with your child.

I can get you proficient on the trombone to where you will understand breathing technique, slide position and tone production. We will also focus on reading and understanding music.
