Theater Acting is a skill quite different from film acting. I have been teaching acting for three years. Build up repertoire, learn to dissect a character and a monologue, character development, finding a goal to become the character and deliver a line the right way.

Also encourage creating and writing your own work and researching others for inspiration.

About Ali
Ali has had music in her life since she was in the crib. She has performed professionally in the musical theatre world and she has studied in several universities for Musical Theater, Jazz, Pop, Blues, and R&B. Since the age of sixteen, she has been selected to sing as a guest soloist for venues such as Spivey Hall, Georgia World Congress Center, and Georgia Tech Hotel Conference Center. Ali has also sung for many movies and recordings, and recently recorded a demo for David Foster, Barbra Streisand, and Andrea Bocelli and recently toured as a pianist for "The Women of Ireland." She is a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music and earned her BM in Music Business and Vocal Performance cum laude studying under Magi Scott, Jeff Ramsey, Jerome Kyles, and Carolyn Escoffrey, Donna McElroy, Livingston Taylor, Joan Lader, and Charlie Sorrent
o.

Ali is also known for playing piano. She received her minor in Piano Performance within a year at Shorter College under Helen Ramsaur. She has been playing since she was five years old and has accompanied many people and musical productions.

Some of Ali's major influences include:

Linda Eder, Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Hudson, Lena Horne, Judy Garland, Whitney Houston, Billie Holliday, and Lara Fabian, Barbra Streisand

*** Lesson Details ***
Ali loves to share her passion of music to the world and especially through her students. She loves to share new ideas and nuances along with the basics and fundamentals of technique. Although practice can be boring for the student, asking a student to pick at least one song to work on can help the student and the teacher have fun and learn at the same time. After a few months, not only will her students have fun, but they will learn how to be a better person and musician.

I coach actors to personalize material and to create bold, innovative choices in a fun, supportive environment. I was recently awarded the Gold Medallion for extraordinary contributions in Teaching and Producing Theatre by the Kennedy Center. “ . . . It is the most prestigious award given by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and is considered one of the great honors of theatre education.” Eight Gold Medallions are awarded nationally each year by The Kennedy Center. I know that we'll have a great time as we explore your potential as a working artist!

About Cathy
I've been a Professor of Acting/Directing for thirty years. I direct professionally and love to explore the process of acting. It's exciting to discover moments in a monologue, song or scene that are personal and artistically original. It's time to make a difference in your work because no one is like you! Talent and competition are part of this business but what will set you apart are the strategies and techniques that make your choices stand out from the rest. Whether you want to act professionally or build more skills when you go to an audition, rehearsal or interview, I would love to meet you and work on the artistic process together.

Cathy is fantastic. She was a major part of my growth as an actor, writer and performer... not to mention my growth as a person. We met my freshman year of college and grew a strong connection almost immediately. I'd like to say that I was special in that regard but she has a way of effortlessly connecting with those she works with, so I was far from the only one. And although her connections are many, each one brings with it a uniqueness and a very personal touch. I certainly counted myself as one such person with whom she's had a unique connection. She has been my professor in class, my mentor on stage, and my friend in life.
Her style of instruction spoke to me immediately. She acknowledges your strengths and encourages you to improve your weaknesses, all with an ease that provides an uplifting sense of determination to be better. You WANT to succeed because of her faith in you. She recognizes the time and effort it takes to hone a skill and is relentless in offering her assistance to help you do so. Her patience to allow a student to find their footing is unmatched. And her willingness to collaborate with, and even learn from, her students not only shows her passion for teaching, but her humility as a person. I would recommend her to anyone looking for an experienced, qualified, passionate instructor who will provide any student with the necessary tools and encouragement to reach their full potential.

My 4+ years working with her definitively shaped my professional career. And even 15 years later, she checks in on me from time to time.

Cathy was my acting professor, mentor and coach throughout my 4 years in school. Her ability to coach actors into making their own discoveries is remarkable. As a coach and professor she never lets an actor lose sight of want they need or want from the other actors on stage. She doesn't teach you how to act she teaches you how to behave given the information your scene partner is giving you. Additionally she is one of the best audition prep coaches I've ever had. I honestly booked more roles when she was coaching me than I do now!:)

Cathy was my Professor, Director and mentor for my first two years at Saint Michael's College in Vermont. Cathy brought a wonderful expertise to each production we worked on and helped me improve not only in the scenes or plays we worked on, but as an actor in general. I also really enjoyed working as her teaching assistant for a beginners acting class at the college, and learned even more about the proper way to communicate my ideas in the theatre setting as well as practical, straightforward ways to improve my acting and my onstage relationships with scene partners.

Your craft is your difference, and I am here to help you supply your craft with the tools necessary to make your difference shine.
I am a graduate from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and currently pursue professional jobs to keep my craft fluid and stay up-to-date on current events. I specialize in warm ups, physical acting, audition training, monologues, improv, Meisner Technique, and Stanislavski’s System. I have 6+ years of experience in the professional acting industry and hope to bring you into the world of endless imagination!

About Shanee
Hey! Nice to meet you! First off, I would love to thank you for your interest in my professional acting training. I am a fun, vibrant and grounded professional actor desired to help you reach your goals in the performing arts industry. I am a graduate of the well-known American Academy of Dramatic Arts, as well as a writer, songwriter, and overall just an encouraging individual willing to push you beyond your fears and help you dive in pool of creation. I specialize in warm-ups, physical acting, improv, auditions, monologue practice, Meisner Technique, Lee Strasberg's Method, and Stanislavski’s System.

I follow five simple but important steps to my method of engagement in performing.
1. Explore
Explore your space. Rather it be on stage, in front of the camera, or just in your head; you must explore your space to find your comfo
rtable and tight places, as well as your obstacles and free spaces. The advantages of exploring first, is that you get a chance as the actor, to feel the area and build that fourth wall.
2. Ground
Plant your feet and your voice down and get grounded. Your being is an electrical source. Just like in a home, in order to use electricity safely, it must first be grounded. You must ground yourself in order to release the full potential of your power.
3. Listen
Listening is a key element in not just acting, but also in life. Listening doesn't seclude itself to just words. Listening involves, listening to your body, listening for queues, beats, moments and even silence! If you choose not to listen, your response will never be valid.
4. Act and React
Every action has a reaction. Your job as an actor, is to fulfill the role by acting and then reacting. You must learn specific techniques to appropriately apply to your acting and if you are following rule number three, reacting should be a breeze.
5. Trust your muscles
Trust that through repetitive motion and practice, that your muscles will do it's job and place your mind, words, and body exactly where it needs to be.

With these steps, the only thing left to add is discipline and creativity. I encourage my students to be themselves and be fearless in that. Without your difference in the world, there would be no change, there would be no story to be told, there would be no excitement. I challenge you to excite me and allow me into your space. Let's explore and create together!
