I’m an adult viola student which is kind of different for me. I started playing again after a couple years and I’m trying to learn ways to play with other musicians. Emily has been really good with helping me focus on what I want to learn. She is patient with me and also plays with me and makes me feel comfortable in my lesson. afterwards I feel good and positive and I want to play more! I suggest her for anyone trying to be creative and wants to improve on tempo, rythm, tone etc. she’s good.

Students can except immediate improvement within a matter of weeks, especially in the following areas: technique and posture, musicality, breadth of repertoire, confidence in performing, and general interest in your instrument. Many of my current and past students have acquired an insatiable urge to practice at every waking hour, and a mutual feeling of "I can't wait for our lesson!" quickly develops.

About Richard
Hello! My name is Richard, and I'm so glad you stumbled upon my profile. I've been playing piano since I was 6 years old and violin since I was 11, and I've been teaching for about 3 years to date. I'm a young teacher, which means a couple things: 1) I'm very relatable to my students 2) I keep things interesting and enjoyable and --(this one's for the parents) 3) my price is one of the cheapest out there. Albeit young, I've accrued many accolades that should assure you that you're in good hands: National Orchestra Award, two-time All State Orchestra member, WVIA Artist of the Year Finalist, and much more. My mission is founded on the basis of altruism. As a student at the University of Pennsylvania, I'm exposed to many outlets of community service. I'm currently a member of the Penn Music Mentorship Program, Play on Philly, and the Penn C

I am an experienced classical violin teacher who has been teaching for 5 years from ages 5-16, beginner to advanced! I focus heavily on technique and foundations so the student has a well rounded music education and confidence in the violin that they can take with them forever. For beginners I use the Suzuki books, I Can Read Music series, String Builder series and Winning Rhythms. For more advanced violinists I use the Introduction to the Positions series and etude books such as Wohlfahrt and Kreuzer.

About Jocelyn
My name is Jocelyn and I have been playing the violin and viola for 13 years and teaching for 5 years. I am principal viola of the Bryn Mawr-Haverford Orchestra and I also am part of a chamber music group. In high school, I was in the Maryland All-State Orchestra for four years and was in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO), one of the most prestigious orchestras in Maryland, for four years. During my summers, I attended the Interlochen Center for the Arts high school music program. I have been taught by musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra and National Philharmonic.
My students improve significantly since our first lessons. One of my first students whom I now give Skype lessons to successfully got into one of the best orchestras in the DC area and is now principal (1st chair) of the viola section of that orchestra. A
nother student, who I started teaching when they were six years old, is now a year later on Suzuki book 2, Wohlfahrt Etudes and is learning third position as a seven year old.
I use a comprehensive set of books that teach theory, rhythm and pieces that I use to teach students how to prepare and perform "performance ready" pieces.

The Violin Studio of Andrea L. offers violin lessons for children, teens and adults, from beginners to advanced players. Lessons are conducted one-on-one in my private studio in the Spring Arts District of Philadelphia. I teach traditional, classical violin playing, and students can expect to gain not only a comprehensive understanding of violin technique, but also a thorough grasp of note-reading, musicality, tone production, rhythm, ear-training, theory and practice/learning techniques.

About Andrea
Music and the violin have always resonated strongly with me. After winning various competitions in my childhood years and traveling to China to perform as a teen, nothing seemed more natural than making a lifelong commitment to the violin. I moved to the culturally and musically-rich city of Boston, MA, to study violin performance for my undergraduate degree, and then I went on to complete a master’s degree with honors in Pittsburgh PA.

With 7 years of higher-education training, musical experiences, and the cultural influence of living in two big cities under my belt, I was ready to dive headfirst into a full-time professional career in music performance. Philadelphia, PA was the next stop for me and it didn’t take long to call this beautiful city home. Soon I was on stage—and under the stage in many cases!—with many of Philadelphia’s to
p professional orchestras and performing consistently with pop music artists like Josh Groban.

I have had the honor of working in varied professional settings and with inspiring musical colleagues around the world. These experiences have helped to transform me into a well-rounded musician who thrives on stage, in the pit, and behind a camera, who puts just as much passion into teaching Vivaldi to my students as into performing ACDC’s Back in Black to cheering crowds.

Along with performing and teaching, I also own an award-winning live musical entertainment company called Miss Musique, which provides live music for weddings, parties and other special events. And in my free time I enjoy doing yoga, checking out Philadelphia’s newest restaurants, and playing with my cat Mittens.

I strive to craft lessons which will give my students a wide base of skills on the violin, although we will be foremost concerned with having excellent technique and a great sound. Beyond that, I can teach you note reading, theory, composition/arranging, and improvisation. If you are interested in learning something other than classical violin, I also have extensive experience in bluegrass, old-time, and jazz fiddle, and can help you develop a unique voice on your instrument. Shoot me a message today to see if we'd be a good fit!

About Kyle
I am a professional violinist, violist, guitarist, pianist, and educator. In addition to recording and touring with my own bands, I regularly arrange and record strings for artists and producers in a wide range of styles, from underground rappers to indie rock bands to grammy winning pop producers. I studied classical viola and composition at Temple University's Boyer School of Music, and have also studied at the Montreal Conservatory and IRCAM in Paris. I currently teach about 35 students a week ranging in ability from beginner to advanced, and ranging in age from 4 to 64. My versatility, experience, and formal training ensure a fun and engaging learning experience, catered towards what YOU want to learn (with some suggestion/encouragement from me of course).

I've studied classical viola for 13 years, with some training in bluegrass
and old-time too. I've also received training in jazz and rock guitar, and have been trained in the Taubman Method on piano, allowing me to teach my students to play with confidence and ease, without fear of injury later on.

Students can expect to receive top notch training in technique and theory. All students will also receive training in improvisation in a variety of styles, so that they can not only play and understand other people's music, but create their own too. Students interesting in writing/recording will also have the opportunity to write and record a song with me, and learn all my best tips and tricks along the way!

Some styles I regularly give lessons in: Rock, Classical, Jazz, Pop, Bluegrass, Folk, Country, Punk, Indie Rock, and Blues.
