In my lessons I strive to make the maximum progress possible, while also having as much fun as possible. This is accomplished by imparting the most valuable, useful, and beneficial information in a fun and relaxed, low pressure environment, always with the students goals and priorities first and foremost. I also like to keep the student challenged at their current ability level.
For beginning students I stress basic fundamentals, just as you would in sports. It makes progress come at a much faster clip and avoids making time consuming corrections later. The longer you play with bad habits, the harder they are to break.
For more advanced students, I assess their current abilities, determine if any problems need to be addressed, and with their goals in mind, come up with the proper plan of action.
Having been self taught till entering college I understand all ends of the spectrum. In my career I have come across three separate groups of musicians:
1) Those who have good ...

My music lessons are fun and educational. Students are busy and dealing with life. Music should not be another thing you "get through". Whether you're young and dealing with multiple subjects in school or you're an adult with a job and responsibilities, music should be the place to escape all of that. I want to teach you whatever you would like to learn and develop a curriculum based on your own wants.
Want to learn songs from your favorite bands? Great! Let's do that!
Want to prepare for college auditions to become a music major? I can help you with that!
Want to play music with your friends and be a part of a cool band? I've been there and done that, and can help you with that too.
Whatever your reason for playing music, whether its for fun or scholarships or auditions or whatever, music should be FUN! I want to help you with that.
There are materials like "Stick Control" and "Survival Guide for the Modern Drummer" but at the end of the day, I want to help you play music, ...

Each lesson is catered specifically to the student. I want each student to be able to reach their own specific goals, while having the time of their life!
About Sean
Drummer Sean Case, 31, started playing at age 7 when he began studying with Mark Foster, a local free-lance percussionist in the Denver area. After high school he enrolled at the Colburn Conservatory in LA, where he studied with Jack van Geem, former Principal Percussionist of the San Francisco Sym

Sean really knows percussion. I've witnessed this both during lessons and when my family watched him perform with the Lone Tree Symphony. Sean is wonderful with kids. Although my son has attention issues, Sean is extremely patient, and he is able to efficiently redirect and focus my son. With Sean, music lessons are enjoyable. He has taken the time to get to know my son and how my son learns. I feel like the lessons are tailored extremely well for my child's abilities. Best of all, Sean is just a wonderful person. He's easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor. My son looks forward to his lessons with Sean each week. You won't find a better percussion instructor!

I am blown away every week with how engaged and enthused my 7 year old is while under Murray's instruction. His style and technique are clearly adapted to the benefit of the individual student and his professionalism is a breath of fresh air. My child is having so much fun and is thriving in his drumming lesson. We recommend Mr Piper 150 % !"

My teenage son loves taking drum lessons from Ed! He is a true professional, very knowledgeable and an amazing drummer. His lessons are fun and he is very inspirational. His studio is super cool, and he offers a beautiful collection of drums and accessories. I highly recommend Drum Lessons with Ed!"

We love the respect and sometimes superhuman patience Mike shows our son. He seems committed to the process of learning rather than the result. It’s an important distinction and we feel extremely fortunate to have found Mike.
Mike sets realistic expectations tailored to our kid, but the main focus is the love of the instrument rather than some cookie-cutter formula. If Duncan is having an off day, Mike takes it from where he is with no badgering or haranguing.
I’d recommend him to anyone looking to learn to play drums. Even if you’re an adult. He’s a great teacher.”
