About Jerry
I've been playing and loving music for well more than half a century, now. I got started in second grade when my grandpa brought home a little violin one day, and I've been at it ever since. I was fortunate to take lessons for more than ten years with Carita Page, a teacher who was very warm, encouraging, and caring. I do my best to pass that on to my students in addition to the technique of playing and the theory of music, fascinating as those are.

I feel that playing in groups is very valuable experience for students and gives you a side of music that private lessons alone cannot. I encourage students to look for opportunities to do that. To help provide those opportunities I organized the Cranbury Scout Band, one of very few continuously-operating Scout bands in the country, which I have directed for more that ten years now.
I've also been on the staff of several Jamboree Scout bands.

*** Lesson Details ***
Every student is a different individual and learns in different ways. I try to make lessons as interesting and as useful to each student as I can, and include different things based on your interests and capabilities. Most students find duets are fun, so I include them often - both duets with the same instrument you are studying and duets with other instruments as well so you can learn the sound of such combinations. I encourage you to "play with your ears" as well as your fingers, to become a critical listener to your own performance and to decide whether you sound the way you want to sound.

I encourage students to try different things to become a more rounded musician. This might be something closely related - a flutist trying the piccolo or a clarinetist trying the bass clarinet. Or, it might be further afield - a flutist trying the guitar or a violinist learning movable Do and solfeggio singing. Every aspect of music is good to know.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My music studio is in a separate building - actually a renovated barn about two centuries old. The studio contains a piano and all the other instruments that I teach, and is roomy enough not only for private lessons but for musical groups up to about ten. I have many other resources there as well, including files of music, a small music library, and a computer that we can use for many purposes.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students need their instruments, music, and stands.
I bring my own instrument.

*** Specialties ***
Classical,
Marching Band,
Ethnic (such as Jewish, Irish)

I've been playing clarinet since age 10 and teaching it since age 15. My performance experience is extensive and I achieved the highest honors available to me throughout my high school and college years. I help students to produce a decent sound very early, and I LOVE to teach clarinet!

Standard method book or band book is used until the intermediate level. From there, standard classical repertoire is the primary method of teaching, supplemented with advanced method books and etude books. Students of other woodwinds looking to "double" on clarinet will benefit from my real-world experience in doubling.

About Rosanna
Please note: I am only able to accept new students requesting lesson times prior to 3pm CST on weekdays. I also work 3 hospital shifts per week on varying days, so flexibility with my availability is often needed. Please ask if you have any questions about this! Thanks!

I have been teaching music students since my high school years in the late 1990s. Although I am primarily a high-level clarinetist, I have developed strong piano skills and can "double" on several other woodwinds. My primary clarinet/woodwind teacher at university was Alex Fields, who studied with renowned woodwind pedagogue and method writer Himie Voxman. I consider myself a "second-generation" Voxman student! Mr. Fields' influence pervades my teaching style, as he was a master of using creative methods to gain the desired effect. The university I attended is known for
its high-quality music degree programs. Over my 20+ years of performance experience, I've played in a huge variety of situations; from unaccompanied soloist to piano accompanist to church praise band to full orchestra and community band. This has given me an integrated understanding and appreciation for various styles and types of music.

I am known among my students for my patience, flexibility, and ability to individualize my style. I teach primarily from a traditional classical background and take students in the direction of the genre(s) they want to pursue. I teach all of my students, and particularly my pianists, about chords to give them the resources to read lead sheets and improvise at more advanced levels. I try to combine the best elements of different styles to build versatile musicians who are intrigued rather than intimidated by new concepts. Everyone gets sight reading and ear training instruction. I incorporate technology, such as mobile apps, to help students master concepts. I lay these foundations early, tailoring my methods to each student's unique learning style and goals. I teach to help each student reach their own potential, to better themselves, to give back to their communities, and to appreciate and enjoy music for the rest of their lives. Music instruction is proven to sharpen the mind for all ages, and is especially beneficial to those with cognitive issues. I worked in healthcare for many years, and this experience makes its way into my teaching style as well.

Safety: I request that another person be somewhere in the home during lessons for all children under 18 and for all male students.

Practice: I expect students to practice regularly and I teach them how to practice well! With younger students I use a record-keeping system encouraging 5 weekly practice sessions of a length proportional to attention span.

My 8-year-old son, John, had Rosanna for a few weeks over the summer and he said he learned a lot from her. She paid attention and had no trouble keeping our active son's focus on the lesson and I have to say its no easy task to keep him interested! I would highly recommend Rosanna as a piano teacher!

Daniel Young's advanced Knowldge and unique style of teaching combine together to make an overall great learning experience for students struggling with music theory. Dan has helped me understand concepts of music theory that I have been struggling with for many years in a short amount of time due to his ideal way of introducing new concepts to a student. I have been playing clarinet for 12 years and have been teaching lessons for 2 years. I recently won a Classical Performers Award with Belmont University as well as the Music Education Scholarship.
These lessons will not just be a page by page method book reading but rather a mix of activites that will get you to learn music theory, music history, as well as composition and improvisation. I want my students to be well-rounded in their musicianship so they can go on and succeed at whatever challenge faces them.

About Lexi
For Music Lessons:

My name is Lexi and I am a Music Education student at Belmont University.

I started my music career when I was just 5 years old and picked up a violin to which many squeaky sounds came out. I went on to learn the Suzuki method and Mariachi music. Since then I have learned piano, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, clarinet, and voice. As a music ed student at Belmont, we are required to learn the basics in all orchestral instruments (e.g. trumpet, viola, percussion).

I will be graduating this December and plan on staying in Nashville. I have attended several Music Education Conferences and recently attended that Tennessee Arts Academy for Elementary Music Teachers. I do these to foster Professional Development and to gain great ideas from Music teachers across the country.

Let me teach you what you have been d
reaming to learn.

For Swimming Lessons:

I am CPR certified and there is a pool at my apartment complex that we can use for free!

I competitively swam and played water polo for seven years and have taught lessons for four years. I tailor the lessons to the student's needs. If you just want to learn how to efficiently keep yourself alive in the water, I can do that! If you want to learn how to bring your 100 fly time down, I can do that!

Let me help you become the fish you were meant to be.

I played the sax through high school and then stopped playing until I retired ~ 4 years ago. I started lessons with Julian when he lived nearby and have continued with "skype" lessons since he moved out of the area. He's a great teacher: motivational, thorough knowledge of both classical and jazz, kind, good sense of humor, and a good communicator. I highly recommend him.

I highly recommend Julian as a saxophone teacher. My son started playing saxophone and taking lessons with Julian three years ago, when my son was 9 years old. Julian is patient with my son and has built a good rapport with him. Julian has always encouraged him to try his best and to not be discouraged when he makes mistakes, and that has made my son comfortable with Julian and confident enough to push himself. Also, Julian is reliable and punctual, and is good at communicating through text and email.

My teaching technique combines methods from the canon of traditional pedagogy with music of today to help students develop musicianship. Lesson plans are individually tailored to each student’s ability with a focus on building fundamental skills on the instrument, and encouraging the development of total musicianship, to include aural skills, theory, and experience in a wide variety of musical genres.

About Trent
For the past decade I have been performing with the U.S. Navy Music Program in places like Australia, Japan, Costa Rica, New Orleans, and Norfolk, Virginia. I've been a featured soloist on clarinet and saxophone with concert bands, jazz bands, rock groups, and brass bands. Before joining the Navy I taught band and woodwind classes for a public school in Northeast Ohio.

I'm excited to begin working with students in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. You can expect to learn the fundamentals of your instrument that will help you perform any kind of music, and receive custom-made lessons designed to help you grow as a musician. I make sure my students learn something new in each lesson, and experience success with weekly lesson goals that are practical and achievable.
