I have played flute for over 20 years. I studied at California State University, Northridge, where I earned a Bachelor of Music degree in performance. I have been tutoring for over ten years, teaching students of all ages and levels. It is important to me that I get to know my students on a personal level, so I can cater lessons to their individual goals/learning styles. Whether you want to work on tone, prepare for an audition, or learn that song from Frozen, I look forward to working with you!

About Lindsey
Hi! My name is Lindsey. I went to California State University, Northridge, where I earned a Bachelor degree in Music Performance and a Master of Arts in Geography. I have been teaching music lessons and tutoring for over 10 years. In addition, I have played in many orchestras, chamber groups, and as a soloist in venues all over the country including Carnegie Hall in New York and Disney Hall in Los Angeles. When I'm not playing or teaching, I am working as a freelance air pollution consultant and cartographer, knitting, cooking, gardening, or playing with my ridiculously cute dog, Snowy.

In lessons, I will teach students how to develop an embouchure and make sound, have proper technique, discuss equipment care, how to read music and develop note recognition, and ultimately, play music. The goal is to get my students playing with proper technique, so that this will carry on throughout their career and playing of the instrument. After getting some sounds out of the instrument and having decent technique, students will be assigned 1-2 songs to work on each lesson. It is the learning of music on one's own, that I believe, truly challenges the student to continue to apply information given in lessons.

About Eric
Hi! I'm Eric, a Saxophonist, Composer, Singer, and Teacher that was born and raised in Southern California. I've been playing the saxophone for over ten years now, writing music for as long as I can remember, and singing since I was in elementary school. I play for a variety of groups in Los Angeles, and sometimes perform in L.A. and surrounding areas at venues such as the LightHouse, Saint Rocke, Avalon, The Mint, and the Baked Potato.

I keep my lessons fun, efficient, and applicable. I give students assignments to work on, not only so they don't forget what we talk about, but also so they can also expand upon the concepts given in lessons, (which familiarizes them more with the information). I look forward to helping you unlock your potential!

My name is Elena and I have been playing flute for 16 years and have a degree in flute performance from Novosibirsk State Conservatory. Now I'm studying in West Chester University. Also, I had a lot of performance and competitions in Europe (France,Austria,Russia and Italy). I love both teaching and playing:)
I believe it's very important for the teacher to have both experience in performing and teaching in order to fully understand and help the students.
Through the lessons I help students on understanding the fundamentals of music theory, creating an ideal sound, and musical expression and coordination.
Every student is different. I work with students individually and use different approaches for each one of them. Such as methods, repertoire and lesson skills.
But most important of all, I always make sure that my students doesn't loose interest and have fun making music!

I am a concert pianist. I was playing recitals with Elena in Russia. Also I know many of her former students. She is an amazing musician and the nicest person I have ever met. I would recommend to take lessons with her because she knows how to encourage students to practice. All her students love playing flute. She makes the flute fun while being also very detailed about technique. Her way of explaining is very thorough. Elena is a very experienced artist, during the lesson she shows how musical phrase should sound, what makes lessons with her very productive. After starting to study with her you will notice the progress in playing flute very soon.

As classically trained musician, I have found myself playing a wide range of genres in my professional life, from musical theater to jazz flute. I work in NYC as an actor/musician, and have been seen touring the country in the tony-award winning musical, Once! I love working with students of all ages, but have lots of experience working with elementary-aged kids.

About Lauren
I'm an actor/musician in NYC, and have taught kids all over the world! I'm available for in-home, online, and in-studio lessons, where I can teach violin, flute, singing, acting, and English. Although I received my BFA in Acting from Boston University's school of theater, I have been making music since I could walk. As a classically trained singer, violinist and flautist, I've been able to incorporate my musical talents with my career as an actress. Once I chose to go to an acting conservatory, I thought I'd need to give up music, but not a day goes by that I'm not playing and singing! I've played a range of professional gigs from churches to rock concerts to musical theater. I even found myself performing in theaters around the country for the broadway national tour of the tony-award winning actor/musician musical, Once! My range of expe
rience helps me cater lessons to you and your specific needs.

While most of my life has been spent performing, I discovered a love for teaching after college. I have been teaching music and theater for 5 years, and two years ago I began teaching ESL to elementary students in Turkey. I fell in love with teaching English, and feel my training in theater and music helps me use different, exciting teaching techniques in our lessons. I am conversational in both Turkish and Spanish as well!

No matter if we're working on music, acting, or English, I'm incredibly committed to my students and want each lesson to be fun and motivational. I'm a patient, supportive teacher, and know that each student is unique and moves at his/her own pace!

We love Lauren. She is making violin a great experience for our daughter (11 yrs old). She is very thorough and encouraging, and introduces interesting music that is fun and challenging for a beginner student. Our daughter says she can truly feel her own improvement, and is really happy to have additional lessons with Lauren, beyond what she receives in school. Lauren is flexible with scheduling and very reliable, and we intend to stick with her - and with the violin- for the duration!

Lauren Thomas is an excellent musician with a tremendous amount of patience and a seemingly boundless supply of talents. As a fellow musician who has played professionally alongside Lauren, I have witnessed first hand her skilled mastery of both the flute and the violin -- as intuitive as she is technically proficient. Apart from her musical abilities, she's kind, fun and sensitive and would make for either a great beginner violin teacher or as an instructor for someone with intermediate skills looking to expand their abilities. Cannot recommend her highly enough! Whether you're seeking instruction in the flute or the violin, Lauren's the woman for the job.

Nina has been teaching my three boys piano for almost 10 years. Words cannot express how lucky I feel to have found her. She is very patient and has been excellent about keeping them interested and excited about music and performances at NYSSMA festivals and recitals. The three boys are very different and Nina varies her approach and temperament to inspire, motivate and to develop concentration. She encourages them to not only improve technically, but to understand the meanings and emotions of each piece. I give her my highest recommendation!
