How to move with confidence and poise, Think on your feet~ unleash a barrage of one liners and "be on a roll". Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame or be a trouper who makes a living at Improv.

About James
I worked for Eddie Van Halen for five years in the 1990's in the Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles and was instrumental in providing help with development of the Peavey Wolfgang and Wolfgang Special Guitar by providing feedback on the prototypes Eddie was designing at the time. I learned a lot from Eddie and his brother Alex about music and the music industry. (All you have to do is pay attention! ) I have played in bands from Hollywood to Toronto and back both as a singer songwriter and guitarist. I bring the Musicians Institute way to the table and get things up and running quickly. I help students get it under their fingers fast and get it right the first time.

I believe in sharing the happiness of making music with anyone who loves music and the guitar in particular. I do my very best to get you playing the songs you love in Pop,
Rock, Jazz and Folk Music of your choice. Today's modern new guitars are easy to play and you will enjoy learning Guitar right away. That is how it should be.
When you study there is a basic understanding of Guitar to be learned that allows an ease of use for anyone for years to come. This will help you reach your goal and improve each week. My students learn to practice in a way that feels comfortable and makes sense. This takes all the stress out of learning and gives everyone something to smile about and look forward to each week.

The good feeling of playing along with friends and taking a solo is within every students grasp. I will show you the way there. And with a solid and straightforward approach to the theory as it applies directly to the guitar you will feel confident and unafraid of any music endeavor. We'll cover harmony and fingerboard theory and give you a road map of the guitar neck that makes it a pleasure to play. You learn the basics and much more than you thought possible retaining 90 percent of what you learn!

Having been a student myself I was deeply involved in music since age 12 and played in bands and duos for over 15 years . I can help you to be a well rounded player and performer with a smile, a laugh and a joy for music whether your in a band or a budding solo artist.

*** Lesson Details ***
Most students want to play the Guitar to play their favorite songs and I'm the same way. Music is something we carry with us in our hearts and minds. Students will learn what they wish to learn and work at a pace that is comfortable to them. Whether you are a student, “weekend warrior” or a parent whose child has expressed an interest in Guitar anyone can learn all there is to know about Harmony and Theory for the Guitar and how to play their favorite songs.

We cover theory in an easy and straightforward no nonsense way in the first half of each lesson and then apply it to the song you wish to learn. This creates an atmosphere where you understand and feel at home with the Guitar. You get an understanding right away and because it is immediately fun it allows you to feel comfortable at any level. Music is fun, and songs are the creative expression of what we feel. Combining theory and the freedom to play and sing songs allows us to express ourselves through music.
After 6 months students will have a solid foundation in theory, and a road map of the guitar fretboard enabling them to advance to an intermediate level if they are ready to do so. Students will know enough that music as it relates to the Guitar, which is the world’s most popular instrument in contemporary music, is not a mystery but is a welcome friend. And they will be able to play songs by popular artists and advance at a pace that is satisfying and enjoyable.

"James is my husband for over 10 years now. Over the years, I have seen James give guidance and counsel to many hopeful musicians of all ages, and inspire others about how music influences and benefits our lives. I would highly recommend James to anyone who wants to learn guitar, voice, music theory, and acting. Working with Christine has been nothing short of an amazing experience. I have learned so much about the industry and have received so much insight on what it takes to be a great actress/comedian/etc. When I first started out, I had no idea what direction I wanted to take or where to start. Christine was extremely patient and came equipped with a roadmap to getting started. She takes every lesson at the pace that works best for me. She has helped me to set and define clear goals of what I want to accomplish and has made excellent use of our time together. I chose Christine because of previous reviews and she has lived up to every word of what others have said. It's been a blast and I plan to continue developing my skill set with her help!

Christine is the BEST!
As a beginner improver, I am so lucky I found Christine! She has taught me so many valuable tools that have improved my scene work and my decision making. In addition, she always addresses my specific issues during each lesson and even emails me with advice and fun GIFS! (no, not "gifts", but graphic interchange formats! :D Every class is fun and lighthearted and I look forward to it each week.

My lessons are virtual, but she is still very effective at participating in scenes and even encouraged my fellow classmate to join me during our lessons. We can't say enough great things about each class!!

She made my daughter (9 yrs) feel so comfortable from the minute they've met that I had no doubts from the beginning that she is THE ONE for us! She has such a warm, cheerful personality and passion about acting that it is hard not to take a note on it. She connected with my daughter instantly and their relationship has been deepening ever since. She knows exactly how to instruct her, talk to her, guide her. Extremely professional!! Gives her very useful advices, coaches her so well that my daughter thrives and improves tremendously. I have been teaching and coaching actors for 20 years. My students work professionally on stage, TV and film. Within the first few lessons, you will understand how to create a character. Soon, you will have the skills to book a role. I specialize in method acting, but draw upon my experience at The Second City (improvisation) in Chicago and other training I have had. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels; I can't wait to meet you!

About Jeremy
Are you working on a part for a play or film and need assistance? If you are new to acting, I can teach you what it takes to be an actor and how to bring a character to life. Do you need to prepare for an audition? Do you want to learn about the business of acting? Script analysis? I can help.

I can help with your audition for performing arts high schools in NYC. My students have gotten into the schools of their choice.

If you have training or are a working actor, I can help take you to the next level.

I am a working actor, published playwright and award winning filmmaker. I graduated from the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where I majored in drama. Currently, I am faculty member at Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York. I teach Method Acting, Acting for Camera, Improvi
sation as well as other classes. My students, both at the Institute and from private coaching, have appeared in independent stage and film productions, TV shows, commercials and Hollywood films.

Acting is the art of bringing a character to life. I use the Lee Strasberg Method, my original exercises and a fun and serious demeanor to help actors express themselves as artists and gain the confidence and skills they need in order to book acting jobs.

My book, "The Young Actor's Handbook", is published by Applause Theatre and Cinema Books. "The Young Actor's Handbook" ignites the beginning actor's creative soul with acting exercises, acting theory, writing exercises and insight into what it means to be an actor. This is a pragmatic manual that guides and informs the young actor, beginning actor, novice acting teacher or anyone who wants to understand acting.

"Jeremy Kruse's book, "The Young Actor’s Handbook", leads the young actor on the correct path. Jeremy is an experienced acting teacher who has broken down acting in an academic way while nurturing the soul of the actor. He understands the emotional aspects of good acting. I commend Jeremy and believe he has accomplished quite a feat in writing "The Young Actors Handbook." - Vincent D'Onofrio

James Wagner is actually the best teacher of creative work I've ever had in any field, and as a writer/ filmmaker/ musician dude, I have had a lot! His teaching is rigorous, passionate, and results-driven, while remaining flexible and sensitive at the same time. His knowledge of acting and theatre theory is endless. He is always trying to expand the possibilities in his classes, bringing in guest speakers, and facilitating unexpected exercises. He is also an inspiring, warm hearted person. Kate and I started a theatre company with actors we all met in his classes, so that should tell you something. I honestly would not be the same person had I not encountered his generous vision of acting and theatre. You cannot go wrong by having him as a coach or teacher.

I met James when I took his class at Berkeley Rep (Eugene O'neill scene studies). I immediately knew he was the kind of Acting coach I'd want to train me, the level of professionalism and high standards is invaluable. During a short trip to LA, I met with James for a 3 hours coaching in which we created a 3 year plan to go from Student actor to working actor this was followed up with some online (Skype) sessions. Next I took another scene study with James at Berkeley Rep in which we workshopped Contemporary plays, James in a kind, professional way was able to push me to the level he knew and expected his students to be. And recently I took an Actor's retreat end of last year, again I left the retreat so inspired and motivated. I can tell you now that I have been in a few Theatre productions, I have and continue to meet the goals we set out for me sooner than what we had mapped out. I couldn't have done it without James vast knowledge of acting and motivation. I highly recommend you study with James!

I've studied with James in both a workshop context, and one-to-one on-line. Both were very valuable and enjoyable experiences. James is a very skilled actor, a very learned man, and an insightful teacher and director. Each element of his teaching is a different expression of a life that is clearly committed to his art as an actor. I found working with him to provide a deep new view of the playwright we studied (Albee in our case), and a very supportive guide to my personal work as an actor. I can highly recommend him.

Cathy is fantastic. She was a major part of my growth as an actor, writer and performer... not to mention my growth as a person. We met my freshman year of college and grew a strong connection almost immediately. I'd like to say that I was special in that regard but she has a way of effortlessly connecting with those she works with, so I was far from the only one. And although her connections are many, each one brings with it a uniqueness and a very personal touch. I certainly counted myself as one such person with whom she's had a unique connection. She has been my professor in class, my mentor on stage, and my friend in life.
Her style of instruction spoke to me immediately. She acknowledges your strengths and encourages you to improve your weaknesses, all with an ease that provides an uplifting sense of determination to be better. You WANT to succeed because of her faith in you. She recognizes the time and effort it takes to hone a skill and is relentless in offering her assistance to help you do so. Her patience to allow a student to find their footing is unmatched. And her willingness to collaborate with, and even learn from, her students not only shows her passion for teaching, but her humility as a person. I would recommend her to anyone looking for an experienced, qualified, passionate instructor who will provide any student with the necessary tools and encouragement to reach their full potential.

My 4+ years working with her definitively shaped my professional career. And even 15 years later, she checks in on me from time to time.

Cathy was my acting professor, mentor and coach throughout my 4 years in school. Her ability to coach actors into making their own discoveries is remarkable. As a coach and professor she never lets an actor lose sight of want they need or want from the other actors on stage. She doesn't teach you how to act she teaches you how to behave given the information your scene partner is giving you. Additionally she is one of the best audition prep coaches I've ever had. I honestly booked more roles when she was coaching me than I do now!:)

Cathy was my Professor, Director and mentor for my first two years at Saint Michael's College in Vermont. Cathy brought a wonderful expertise to each production we worked on and helped me improve not only in the scenes or plays we worked on, but as an actor in general. I also really enjoyed working as her teaching assistant for a beginners acting class at the college, and learned even more about the proper way to communicate my ideas in the theatre setting as well as practical, straightforward ways to improve my acting and my onstage relationships with scene partners.

Acting is such a broad term! What are your goals? Do you want to be in films? Do you want to do Shakespeare? Do you want to be in a sit com? Depending upon what your interests are and where you want to go, we will build a plan together. My philosophy on acting techniques is that they are tools to help you, not tests you pass if you're a good actor and fail if you're a bad one. Different techniques work for different people and it is our job to find out what inspires you.

I've worked as a professional actor for many years, performed on Broadway, have my MFA in Performing Arts, and my BA in Arts and Education. I was an assistant director to Tony-winner Sharon Ott and have written and produced my own work. I have experience in both stage and camera acting, which have specific technical differences, but are both a lot of fun once you get used to the medium. Audition technique, preparing monologues, and creating promotional materials are also things I can help with. Anyone who wants to ...

I would say it was a very good experience and if the wants to keep doing acting I will send her back her for my privates cuz it's easier than a room filled with others. I like the personal attention

Great lady, really funny and terrific personality. Her instruction was no nonsense. After chatting a few minutes with her, we got right to work on the basics. I learned so much about how unprepared I was and she really help me gain my courage. I moved from Portland a few years ago and I'm still learning the city and about some of it's artists. I did want to book last minute with Pat but she wants a week out appt. and on one occasion she could not meet up with me for a lesson. Hope to see her again however; really talented woman.

A couple years ago my son was cast as the Grinch in a school production. I found her thru Facebook. She gave him 2 lessons and then spent time with him on the phone. Mark is a great kid but he has autism so it can be a challenge. Patricia had experience working with special needs students and I must say she was impressive. Marky took to her right away, she didn't talk down to him, but was a cool friend as well as a teacher. She brought him out of that shell and gave him a lot of attention, was patient and understanding with him. I was proud when he did his thing at school. Highly recommend her especially good with kids. My only issue was scheduling. For the first lesson I was hoping she could come to us and we lived too far then I did have to wait a week or so to book another time but we did get in a couple lessons in time for his show.

About Kirstie
Greetings!

I have hands on experience teaching and directing actors of various ages.
During my time at Denison University I gained experience with acting techniques as well as directing actors for the stage and screen, which I have continued to use for recent independent projects.

Most recently I worked at the New York Film Academy’s summer camp where I utilized my knowledge of film and theatre to assist the students with their projects. While there I got to teach a screenwriting course and help with their monologue class.

Furthermore, I have taken classes from multiple instructors from different studios, including James Franco’s Acting School, in Los Angeles. I’m well-informed with scene study, monologue techniques, acting for film, reading technique, improvisation, memorization, Meisner practices, Stanislavski technique, and chara
cter development.

Acting is a passion of mine and I would love to help you break out of their shell and develop a passion for the art form in the same way that my teachers and mentors did for me.

I look forward to meeting you!
