I absolutely LOVE music theory. To me, theory is so vital to a well-rounded musical education. My teaching style totally depends upon what each particular student needs.

About Becca
I am a friendly, outgoing, and passionate music teacher! I play the harp and piano and absolutely love to spread the joy of music. I started playing the harp because my grandmother was a harpist and I thought it was the most beautiful instrument. After all these years, I still love the amazing sound of the harp. I completed my degree in Harp Performance from University of Denver's Lamont School of Music where I received a well-rounded education in both performance and academics (including theory, history, and technology). Please let me know if you have any questions- can't wait to get started!

I have studied music theory as it pertains to most modern styles. I am currently studying classical composition at University of Pittsburgh. I am fluent in all aspects of scale and chord structure and function.

About Max
I am hip to all directions and interests in regards to your musical desires. There are of course core concepts in music and playing the guitar that must be internalized in order to progress as a musician but there are many ways to approach these ideas and concepts. Every person has their own unique talents and attitude that will effect how they learn. Improvement will always require work but the act of playing music at any level of ability should be fun and enjoyable. Whatever style of music speaks to you, and whatever ability on the guitar you are after I can provide you with proper direction to help you achieve your goals.

My approach as a music teacher is to first teach the student to relax and have fun with their instrument. I use backing tracks to help the student feel a beat or groove to a song. This is very important. Theory, technic and ear training are important but useless if the student doesn't first feel and enjoy music. We all sing along and dance to our favorite songs but in many cases, the joy goes away when we begin to actually study music. I don't want to take the joy away. First we have fun. Playing is learning.

About Mitch
Hello everyone. My name is Mitch and I hope to be your music teacher soon! I have been teaching music since 2000, I have a degree in Music Education. Music is undoubtedly my number one passion and teaching it to others is most fulfilling. I have been in various bands and musical productions and I am currently holding the position of Assistant Director of Contemporary Music at the Church in which my family attends. I don't use your lesson time as my "show off time". I expect students to practice daily and attend lessons prepared and ready to build on the previous lesson. I cherish the long term relationships I have with my students, former students and parents. I hope to welcome you into that circle and help you build the skills necessary to color your life with music.

All about the music: reading notes, rhythm, scales, intervals, alterations, dynamic.

About Laura
I am a pianist, songwriter, and keyboard player and backup singer for a prog-rock band and also a music teacher.

I've been teaching music for a long time. Why? Because I love music and I love to teach. My mission statement: get you to enjoy music while learning.

The best moments on my work are when the students realize that they can play/sing something that they couldn't do before. I love their expressions at that moment.

I started playing music when I was 7: the recorder, the Spanish guitar, a double keyboard organ that I used to learn how to play the piano by myself. Later on, I started with official piano lessons and ended with my BA in piano.

My training was classical but I love new age music and jazz.

During my piano lessons, you can learn theory, composition, play classical music and know the differences between diffe
rent periods, play pop, jazz, rock, learn how to read lead sheets. I adapt songs you like to your skills so you can start playing your favorite music from the first day.

During my singing lessons, you can learn how to use your "instrument" (your voice) properly: breathing, posture, pitch, resonance, agility, vocal range, riffs.

Learn solfege and other music theory basics!

About Alex
I am a singer, actor and writer with experience in musical theatre, opera, vocal jazz, choir, and a capella singing. I have performed in over 25 fully staged productions and served in pretty much every role onstage and offstage in the theatre.

I teach healthy singing within genre. Each genre and style of music has its own technique. Screaming in opera would sound just as weird as singing rock with too much vibrato. Yet although each style has it's nuance and idiosyncrasies, I believe that there are basic skills applicable across all types of singing. All singers need to sing without physical tension, even when they want their voice to sound tense. All singers should understand their breath and how to use it to their advantage etc.

The bottom line is this: singing should feel easy, because when it feels easy it's not only fun, but it's
also probably healthy. So let's get to having fun!
