Bo, a soprano, is currently a DMA student at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, did Master's degree at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Her performance experiences include opera performances, the major role "Alice" of Verdi's opera Falstaff at University of Illinois-Champaign, the main role"Lauretta" in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Suor Angelica, singing in Duquesne University’s Aria Night, Night of Broadway and Cabaret Favorites, and Scene Night.

As a native of China, she completed her undergraduate at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in Shenyang, China. Her performances in China include performances with the Shenyang Conservatory of Music and the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts. Bo also took part in making the recordings for Ma Kai’s “Motherland Is In My Heart”. In the summer of 2011, Bo traveled to Rome, Italy, to study and
perform at Duquesne University’s Rome campus, successfully completing their Lirica Roma program.

Bo has had numerous success teaching students of all ages. Whether they aspire to become professionals or just singing as a hobby, her teaching techniques are adaptive to each individual student’s needs. She is also offering reading, speaking, and writing tutoring in Mandarin Chinese.

*** Lesson Details ***
As a voice teacher, I believe that my job is to allow the students to discover their own unique characteristics. I like to teach in an relaxed environment where the student will be able to develop a healthy (learning bad techniques can be harmful to the throat and body) strong techniques. It is important for the students to learn their own bodies and limit, while being taught to use their bodies to help produce beautiful singing.

Singing is more than just about using their voice and achieving proper technique.. It is equally important to learn the music history, theory, acting, etc. appropriate to the piece they are working on. When everything comes together with proper singing and the correct knowledge, students will be able to perform a piece in an intelligent manner.

Finally, something I have learned from my previous teachers, it is important to go beyond being just a teacher, and become a role-model and a mentor to my students.

Bo is truly a great instructor!

As basically a beginner with piano, she deployed a perfect blend of patience and push. She makes lessons fun, works with you, but also pushes you to get better.

Bo is also very accommodating to your schedule and is great a working with you to make sure you get your lesson in.

Originally from Baltimore, classical pianist Gabrielle E. studied at Peabody Preparatory with a focus in performance and music theory. Later, she moved to Pittsburgh and received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Duquesne University and her Master's of Music Degree in Music Technology: Composition/Piano. She has won the Spring Piano Competition of the Duquesne Piano Department for three years in a row. She frequently records all periods of repertoire and also many original compositions. First and foremost I want any potential student to know that I thoroughly en
joy teaching and want to help you explore your hidden talents and reach your fullest potential. With that in mind, the learning environment in my studio is relaxed and fun. I never condescend or put pressure on a student who makes mistakes. I encourage students to try new techniques and make mistakes along the way. I also work very closely with my students to achieve their own personal goals. I know that there are many different types of learners who all have different aspirations and I feel it is my job to ensure that my students are satisfied with their progress. I understand that someone hoping to attend a conservatory will have different needs than a small child. I promise to give nothing less than the highest quality teaching in an environment conducive to learning.

For piano students, I will spend much time on proper technique and making sure the student does not compromise the wrist, fingers, arms, or back which may create discomfort later. In the first 3-6 months a student can expect to learn technique, repertoire, and basic musicianship skills such as sight reading and transposition.

Composition/ Songwriting students will be coached according to what their specific goals and interests are. I incorporate the technical aspects of writing music along with music business which will help students get their music played and recorded.

Music theory students will practice skills such as four part writing, melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic dictation, modulation, roman numeral analysis, sight singing, and score analysis.

I do encourage the use of specific curricula but I am always willing to explore something new if you have a preference or have found success with something else. I hope that music will give my students lifelong enjoyment and I encourage you to come make music with me.

Amanda is a professional Pittsburgh-area flutist and private teacher. She has served as principal flutist with the Pittsburgh Philharmonic as well as second flute/piccolo with the Undercroft Opera. She has also served as a substitute flutist for the Edgewood, Westmoreland and Johnstown Symphonies. Amanda also performs with the Dolce Appassionato Trio, a chamber ensemble comprised of flute, cello, and piano. Ms. L. has also soloed with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and was invited to play at the City of Sydney Cultural Council Outstanding Performer's Concert in April 2008. She has placed in several Australian competitions and is a two-time winner of Sydney "Theme and Variations" Outstanding Pianist Award and a three-time finalist for the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer's Award. In 2006, Ms. L. was one of three students honored by the Cultural Council at the Sydney McDonalds Arts Challenge. I went into banjo lessons not knowing if I could master the instrument or not, being nearly 70 years old. While by no means a master (and never going to be), I have learned so much from Sam and he has shown such patience with me. I often leave my lessons wondering how he ever puts up with me - but he does. His encourgement, laid-back style, expertise and knowledge of music (plus theory) and the banjo is impressive. His good nature makes my lessons so much more pleasant. I would say Sam is a a great teacher for both a beginner or an accomplished musician or in between. He likes to talk and demonstrate (nice and slowly if requested) so I would recommend hour-long lessons at first.

I began my violin studies at age 9, with my humble public school string program
. I continued through high school and into college, playing and singing with auditioned district ensembles, school musicals, and chamber choirs, coming in as runner up in my high school's concerto competition, and performing twice in Carnegie Hall. I studied opera, vocal pedagogy, and passed my piano proficiency exam from the advanced class.

In 2003, I earned my violin performance degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and soon after, joined the Kansas City-based Celtic folk group, Tullamore. I have enjoyed 13 seasons with this lauded regional group, playing countless esteemed Celtic festivals across the country and embarking on five international tours of Ireland and Scotland, as well as a Caribbean cruise hosted for our fans. Our sixth international tour is scheduled for 2019 in Scotland.

In 2014, I relocated to Hampton, Virginia, where I auditioned for the Hampton Roads Philharmonic, and currently play as a first violinist.

In 2015, I began playing with Brackish Water Jamboree, an award-winning Americana band, featured on NPR's Out of the Box series with Paul Shugrue, and host of the NorFOLK Festival.

Throughout this time, I have enjoyed teaching a full and enriching music studio of students: hosting recitals, open mics, and ensemble rehearsals, and watching students achieve goals they didn't know were even possible. I continue to teach online via Skype, FaceTime, and Google Hangouts, and I look forward to working with you to accomplish your own musical aspirations!

I compose music for films, video games, and for all kinds of genres. My favorite is for epic orchestras. I have developed a very simplified version of music theory that I believe anyone can understand. I always make things simple and understandable. I was in Prague last year recording the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra on an upcoming album. So I really know what I'm talking about in this area.

My goal is to help students ENJOY the piano by finding ways to make it easier and doable. I have a very useful approach in helping students become self sufficient to sight read very well, to see patterns, understand music theory to either help them play well, or to even create their own music(I compose a lot of great music as well)

I couldn't sight read very well until I was 16, but I had a great sight reading teacher that showed me how to develop it, and now I can say that I'm one of the best sight readers out there that I know. I was a ballet pianist at Brigham Young University for several years where all I did was sightread binders full of ballet/classical music. I play for choirs, church congregations, jazz bands, or musical jam sessions all the time, and I couldn't do that at all if I didn't learn how to sight read well.
I would love to help you learn the piano, and I will do my best to make learning as effective as possible. I especially enjoy teaching those who quit and would like to try again, because I know what that is like.

Concerning my musical background, I've played, arranged, and composed piano for choirs, bands, jazz combos, singers. I've been in bands all my life, and have composed for jazz bands, choirs, and orchestras at BYU and in Eastern Europe. I also play about 10 different instruments. I won two Student Emmys in Hollywood for my compositions to BYU's animations in 2010 & 2014.

I am currently writing music for video games.

I am a band director of 11 years. I have taught and performed professionally in the Jackson, TN and Memphis, TN regions for 7 years and have been active as a director in Florida for 4 years.

I graduated from the University of Memphis in 2007 with a masters of music in performance. While at Memphis, I studied with Charles Schulz (principal tubist, Memphis Symphony Orchestra), John Mueller (euphonium), and David Spencer (trumpet). I also had the opportunity to perform with world class tubist Jens Bjorn-Larsen. I was also awarded the Clement Santi Memorial Brass Scholarship.

During my teaching tenure in west Tennessee, I had students earn the top chairs at All-State, win the concerto competitions, be accepted to numerous schools of music (including Northwestern University, University of Memphis, University of Tennessee, Belmont University
, University of Mississippi), and be awarded the highest scholarship for entering freshmen in the Rudi Scheidt School of Music (Memphis).

During my tenure in west Tennessee, I had the privilege of leading my ensembles to earning numerous awards including Superior and Excellent Ratings. I am in the process now of building a young band program to be equally successful.
