I can teach you fingerpicking and riffs, from basics to advanced including how to use a slide guitar.

About Scott
Hi! I'm Scott. I perform with a one-man band setup I created which utilizes a modified guitar and home-made foot pedals to control a drum set, while I sing on top of it all. I have a recording studio at home, and have performed with bands as a singer, guitarist, saxophonist, bassist, percussionist, and as a sound engineer. I've written, performed and recorded my own album which made it to the 2nd round of the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, and was a voting member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Grammy Committee and NARAS (National Association or the Recording Arts and Sciences.) I started piano lessons from age 5 and just kept picking up more instruments and gear as I got older and never stopped learning or enjoying it!

I have been teaching Guitars, Basses, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Music Production, Re
cording, and Live Sound for 16 years.

Working with people writing songs is something I enjoy thoroughly; I can help you write and record your own songs. A computer and internet access are preferred to take full advantage of the technology for learning and producing music.

Knowledgeable in Instrument repair, set-up, and maintenance, I can help you fix it, and how to spot a good instrument.

Patient and experienced, with a broad knowledge of music in most areas, I can give you hundreds of good references from previous students I've taught over the years

Enjoy teaching all styles of guitar playing!

About David
A fun, friendly, and professional Music Instructor at your service for Voice, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums, & Ukulele! I have a BA degree from Florida Atlantic University in Music Performance for Classical/Flamenco/Jazz/Blues guitar and I've also performed on the Piano/Keyboards for a couple different bands too. Love to play & teach pretty much all styles of music! It is always a pure joy & truly rewarding to see my music students grow and flourish in their musical abilities. I have been enjoying doing this now for 20+ years- all ages & levels. I am also in a multi-dimensional rock project and a recording artist with my band Vision.

I believe it's important to learn the rudiments of music to build a good foundation (scales, chord vocabulary, theory, song-composition, performing techniques), but I also base the lessons on whatever th
e interests and strengths are for the student. For example, if you enjoy jazz more than classical we'll focus more on what you are particularly passionate about. I have also been a part of School of Rock Programs in which we provided performances for the students a la Jack Black. Please contact Takelessons to let the musical journey begin...

I took lessons with David for a few months and I was rather thrilled with the lessons in the beginning and quite upset towards the end of our time together. David is a great teacher for the general hobbyist or child but I outgrew his lesson homework within 8 weeks of lessons. It was at this point that I asked David to record the vocal warm ups so I (as well as other students) could practice more conveniently. He assured me he would, and week after weeks, the warm ups weren't available. David knew I only had a limited amount of time until I was moving from the area. He had the idea that we should record one of my original songs using his homemade recording studio. He wasn't very knowledgeable of the program he was using at the time and I was his first student who he tried this on. We ended up using about 6 of my lesson credits on this song (which was out of time from the beginning). After a while of minimal progress on the song, no recorded vocal warm ups and plateau in my vocal learning, I decided to cancel lessons with David earlier than decided. David is a very friendly person with a moderate knowledge of most instruments but I would not recommend him to someone who is serious about advancing their craft on a professional level.

Together we'll study the guitar styles of great country guitar players, young and old! Whether you like the music of George Strait, Taylor Swift, or Brad Paisley (or all of the above!), all country guitar has the same fundamentals. I can show you how to play your favorite country songs, and how to play a rippin' country guitar solo! Whatever your musical goals, I'll do my best to help you reach them!

About Jake
A "Summa Cum Laude" graduate of Boston's Berklee College of Music, Jake specializes in teaching guitar, electric bass, mandolin, and ukulele. Jake works closely with his students to help them reach their personal goals. Every musician uses a similar set of essential skills in their music, whether they play classical or contemporary music. Through the use of modern and classic music that the students are drawn to, Jake places emphasis on these traditional musical skills that have stood the test of time.
Jake maintains an active performance schedule as well. He serves as the lead guitarist for "60's Invasion", a Boston and Southern New Hampshire area show band. He also performs with "The Rhythm Exchange Jazz Quartet", "The Deep Blue "C" Studio Orchestra", and has performed multiple times for Former President George W. Bush and Former Fir
st Lady Barbara Bush. Jake has studied privately with Jon Finn (The Boston Pops Orchestra, The Jon Finn Group), Bruce Bartlett, Jon Wheatley, Ed Saindon, and Clay Steininger.

Jake is quite good. He is easy to talk to and understands what I expect
to get from these lessons. We discussed aspects of learning which included
how to hold the guitar, hand position, etc. He gave me exercises to
practice and we played together given what I already know. I enjoyed the
first lesson very much and would recommend him.

Excellent customer service! I truly enjoy working with people who are looking to take up this wonderful instrument. Also the remote lessons are unique. My students get a combination of real-time coaching and personal customized video lessons. We start out with a goal -usually a song you want to learn- decide when we'll meet, and figure out how long it's going to take to get it the way you want.

the interaction between myself and my customers, especially beginners. Those lessons are the high point of my week.

About Paul
Hi, there! My name is Paul and I can't wait to meet you! I am passionate about playing guitar, and one of the great joys in my life is sharing my passion with others.

First thing is always to listen to the student and get a sense of their expectations. Once I understand what they want to do, lessons are created based on the student's skill, and expectations.

I studied with guitarist John LaGreca and am attending the Berklee school beginning in September 2018. I look forward to helping you reach your own goals as a guitarist!

I started with Peter when I was 13 years old and continued taking weekly lessons until I was 19. In those 7 years Peter helped take my playing from an intermediate level to a near expert level. Our weekly meetings ranged from just learning new songs, music theory, or just jamming over backing tracks we would create. Peter is knowledgable in every form of music. In our years of lessons we enjoyed playing classic rock, blues, jazz, classical, and gypsy jazz. Peter was able to walk me teach me through the beginning levels of Music Theory.

Most importantly through our 7 years together, became was able to take me from a very shy musician to someone who was very confident on stage playing at different bars. Peter went from being a teacher to a very close friend as he helped me grow. Although I do not take lessons with him anymore due to being away at college, I keep in touch with Peter every time I am home.

I would highly recommend Peter to anyone at any level guitar playing. He has the patience someone needs if you're just starting out and the expertise to help take even some of the best players to the next level.

About Derek
Derek Wesley A. is a professional singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist currently living in the United States. He was born in North Carolina on February 24th, 1983. Derek began learning music at age 4 with the help of his father (Harvey Dalton A.: bassist for legendary Southern Rock band The Outlaws). Derek would play melodies and chords he heard on the radio or around the house and Harvey would explain to him how these related to each other. At the age of 10 Derek began playing drums, and by fourteen he was playing professionally in the nearby counties.
In high school Derek started the band Blue Dust Box with three of his classmates. This band charted for two weeks at #8 in the Australian Unsigned Artist Charts. Derek was the primary songwriter for the group. At age 19 he moved to Raleigh and quickly became one of the most sought-aft
er bassists in the region, which led to multiple tours of the United States and Canada, as well as countless hours of session work. Derek was also consistently the house bassist for five separate music venues in Raleigh over a 7 year period.
While based out of Raleigh, Derek played with John Custer (Columbia/Sony Records), Kenny Soule (Nantucket/DAG), Nick Hagelin (The Voice/Superstition TV Show, Interscope Records, Carolina Ballet), Daniel "Slick" Ballinger (B.B. King's Oh Boy! Records), world renowned blues legend John Dee Holeman (Martin Guitars/Music Maker Foundation) and many others.
Derek now lives in Winston Salem, NC. He earned his Bachelor of Music Degree in Composition and his Master of Music Degree in Composition at the conservatory University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

I had the pleasure of teaching Derek private composition lessons at the UNCSA School of the Arts from 2016 to 2018. He is one of the most versatile musicians I've ever encountered--at home with a wide variety of American styles as well as being an accomplished concert composer. He is well-acquainted with virtually every instrument in the popular music genre, and is a gifted singer-songwriter. Derek is likable and has a winning personality as a teacher.
