I hadn't played the trumpet in 30 years. My first lesson with Nicholas was like starting from scratch. He is very knowledgeable, polite, professional, and definitely patient. I feel that that homework Nicholas assigned was spot on. I'm playing better already after only two days. I would certainly recommend him to a friend.

Nicholas really tailored the lessons to what I needed. They weren't cookie-cutter lessons, and I appreciated that. He answered all the questions I had, and helped me understand some concepts that I never would have gotten just learning online. I definitely recommend him as a teacher.

Nicholas was very patient, took the time to write down information that was helpful (very helpful). Nicholas understood where I was in reference to me knowing nothing about the guitar and he is very knowledgeable with the music trade. He was very clear and kept things simple. I truly enjoy his instructions, can't wait for the next lesson.

"I love watching young musicians grow into seasoned players and have had tremendous success with all my students. I believe that learning songs and playing music is a critical element in the learning process of becoming a good drummer/pianist, and musician. This is why I bring a powered PA speaker, mp3 player, and (sometimes) a guitar to my lessons for the student to play along with and learn familiar songs. My boys, ages 7 & 5, started piano lessons with Aaron a year ago. He has taught them technique & theory all while using songs they boys love. There are days that the boys are not the most cooperative. Aaron is amazingly patient and persistent in getting the boys to do their lessons. I really appreciate and have learned from this patience when it comes to the nightly practicing. I am pleased that the boys have been working with a male teacher and I think it really helps them relate to the music and the lessons. If you are looking for a patient yet knowledgeable piano teacher, I would definitely recommend Aaron.

Snare drum and drum kit.

About Darrell
Why these lessons are different:
- Formally trained conductor/composer/producer
- Individual or group session options including full band production
- A long roster of satisfied clients
- Broad base of musical styles (rock, classical, jazz, blues, metal, bluegrass, folk, theater, big band, symphonic, pop, punk, country, march, gospel, avant-garde...)
- Over 20 yrs teaching experience and work with recognized professionals including work in some of the top-rated private schools in the United States
- Over 30 years performing experience

Instrument-specific instruction:
- Voice
- Guitar [Spanish, acoustic, electric]
- Electric Bass
- Piano/Keyboard
- Woodwinds [specializing in saxophones]
- Percussion
- Brass & Bowed Strings [performance preparation only]

My process is based on (but does not adhere strictly to
) the Classical approach to Western tonal harmony and asks that the students develop certain fundamentals of technique and theory. In my experience, this structure creates the strongest foundation for pupils to build the rest of their musical lives on, whether professionally or solely for personal enjoyment. All of my students are on the fast track to studying music theory. Whatever level they are at when I start with them, I guide their efforts into bringing the students up to a certain level of comprehension regarding the mathematical aspects of music and how it relates to their instruments. This understanding of theoretical principles of sound allows the students to play any style of music they wish, no matter how their tastes may change throughout their lives.

Curriculum Gradation:
Elements of rhythm
Elements of pitch
Elements of dynamics
Elements of articulation
Reading/Writing notation
Tone development
Finding/Expanding your range
Dexterity, speed, and accuracy
How to project
How to advance to the next level
Music theory
Playing by ear
Improvisational techniques

My 16 year old son loves his lessons with Darrell and looks forward to them every week. He'd been taking guitar lessons elsewhere that were okay-ish, but this is so much more. Darrell is great, not only does he get along with and make my son want to learn, but at the same time they are working on voice, he is also teaching keyboard and working on the guitar! We really couldn't have asked for a better instructor.

The drums are the backbone of most music, so you have to be able to feel the groove and stay tight and on top of the beat. I encourage students to pick their favorite songs, and we drum to those while learning proper technique, rudiments, song form, fills, rhythm, different grooves / beats, and anything they want to know about the drums. I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years and have a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music. Drums is a beautiful art and form of expression and is just the tip of the iceberg we can tackle called Music.

About Eric
MUSIC!
I think music is the most beautiful thing in the world, so lets take time to learn and play music together.
I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years, and been in over fifteen bands in the course of that time. I have a degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music were I studied music theory and focused on Music Production and Engineering. I have been playing Piano, Bass, and Guitar for about ten years in addition to the drums, and have been recorded in sessions on each. I have a deep passion for synthesizers and electronic music, so lets make some bleeps and bloops together.

I am extremely kind, friendly, and funny so lessons with me are very relaxed and have an easy to learn environment. However I am very passionate about teaching to fit student needs; so if a student likes deadlines and homework, if that is w
hat will help them learn the best, then that is how I will teach.
Lets make some sweet music together!!

Learn the basics of playing drum set and how to play in a band. I can teach you where to use fills in songs and what role drums play in a group.

About Ulises
I have played trumpet for 15 years, and taught lessons for 5 years. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in trumpet performance from Idaho State University, and a Master's Degree in trumpet performance from the prestigious Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.

As a student who has overcome tension and anxiety, I can pinpoint any causes for these problems that a student may have. I am very understanding and I know that each student learns differently. I believe that music making should be fun, and I can help your playing be effortless so you can enjoy every moment of playing the instrument.

I have been contracted by several orchestras in Idaho in the past, and I have played professionally for memorial day services. I have played in brass quintets and am familiar with playing the correct style in a jazz setting.

Recently, I self produced
my own EP.

Students who take lessons with me will be on a structured curriculum that they can use to help build their drumming skills, however the materials put a major emphasis on teaching students how to write their own grooves, fills, and more. There are fundamentals that are extremely important and take time and hard work to learn, but it is also important to learn how to express yourself as an artist with your instrument. Music is an art form of course. I make my best effort to get the fundamentals and basics down for my students in an easily comprehendible manner, but I also make a great effort to try and tie my lessons to each individual drummer. Everyone has a different voice, everyone has different needs in learning.

About Zachary
Hello,

My name is Zachary Bauer and I am currently accepting new students for drum lessons, all levels and ages. No one is ever too young or old to learn the drums, just bring a positive hard working attitude!

A little about me; I am 25 years old, a full time professional drummer, and a student studying under renowed Drummer Larry London (Turner, Oregon : "JFK", "Tyranny of Hours"). I now have a space to offer lessons in my home studio and am eager to put it to good use!

Drums are my life. I am currently working with my original band "Anomie" along with a few other side projects such as drum tracking CD's and an individual artists' webpage. I graduated from Oregon State with a degree in Sociology and the intent to go to Graduate School to pursue teaching, but my passion of drums and the desire to spread happiness through music committ
ed me full time to my drumset 2 years ago.

I have teaching materials for students and a full lesson plan that is the same I have learned my basic techniques and grooves from, which progressively becomes more difficult and adds ornamental pieces one by one to your personal drummers tool kit. Though it is the same system I was taught from, I back it 100% and put some of my own ideas with it as well. I try to pertain each lesson to each individuals specific learning interests; every drummer is different.

My students will focus on:

-Proper technique (learning how to make the kit work for you, movement efficiency, stick grip, foot technique, posture, etc.).

-All different styles of music, their variations, and their similarities throughout genres.

-How to read sheet music and use a system created to learn how to write your own personal grooves, and fills, and solos.

-Rudiments in both single surface and full drum set form.

-Sticking exercises.

-Hi-hat steppings and openings.

-Tom grooves and fills.

-And of course how to have fun and express yourself musically in whichever way they desire.

Currently I am offering lessons at my home in my studio, but am also willing to travel to certain students in the area if they have a drum set at home that is preferred. My priority is my students, so we can always figure out a time that works for both of us.

Keep practicing everyone!

In addition to teaching the basics of drumming like technique, rudiments, and note values, I also focus a lot on application around the drum set as well as how to improve your musical ear. This aims to help people become better all around musicians as they learn how to play.

About Ben
Hello there, my name is Ben Lokuta, and I have been playing drums for 13 years. I am several bands, including the two time winner of Rockonsin, Distant Cuzins. We were also the 2017 MAMA youth band of the year. I was also the 2017 MAMA youth drummer of the year. We have been a group for seven years and have played everywhere from dive bars to opening for Kansas at Milwaukee SummerFest. In addition, I have played with the Clyde Stubblefield All Star Band, now known as the Funky JBeez, for the last four years, and I got be Clyde Stubblefield's drum tech a couple of times before he passed away. Clyde helped shape many styles of music including funk, soul, hip hop, and ultimately rap as we know it today. I am truly honored to have known him. I have attended McNally Smith College of music for one semester until they closed, and I will be atten
ding Belmont University in the fall of 2019. I have learned a lot along the way, but I have also learned what teaching styles I like and I feel I know how to explain difficult concepts in a way that can make sense to anyone. I can teach technique, orchestration around the drum kit, musicality on the kit, as well as a general approach in styles ranging from swing to rock to latin. I hope I can use my knowledge and experience to help you get where you want to be.
