Come alive to understanding how the various views of music structure opens worlds of meaning and possibilities for musical performance and enjoyment.
This is not only opens up mental understanding but also artistic experience of hearing, feeling, and emotion.
About Carolyn
Coming from a large extended family in Hawaii, I was surrounded by luau music, kachi-kachi dancing, Japanese bon dances, handsome local guys singing and playing their guitars and my aunties strumming their ukes and singing old songs. I reveled in walking alone in Nature or playing piano and singing

I am so excited to help you expand your aural and written music theory knowledge! I am a professional Opera Singer and I received my Masters in Music from The Juilliard School and received my Bachelors in Music from The University of Kentucky.
An understanding of Music theory leads to appreciating the beauty and genius of music and increases your musical aptitude in performance situations. Even as an Opera Singer I have strived to learn as much as I can so that I can develop a deeper understanding for what I am performing.
I can certainly appreciate that sometimes Music Theory and Aural Theory can just be hard and frustrating, especially when its only explained one way. I love to discover new ways to teach and offer new perspectives to make sure that the knowledge is ingrained in everything you do. My pace is your pace!
I'm so excited to hear from you and see how I can help you!
About Matthew

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Tim is an excellent, patient and caring instructor. I am a brand new guitar owner from a rural area in North Dakota. I was looking for a guitar teacher but all required a 30-60 minute drive. I found Tim through the Betterfly website and have taken several lessons through Skype. It has been a great experience that I would recommend to anyone from beginner on up"

I met Dave in my music theory class at Ex'pression college. He's the reason why I'm making music today. I went from not knowing a thing about music theory or a piano to creating chord progressions, understanding modes, intervals, modal interchange, and how to read sheet music. He's extremely patient, professional, and easy to get along with. His passion for music and teaching is infectious, I highly recommend!!!"

We've only had one lesson but I've learned more with him than I did with an adult self teaching piano book.
So far, very good."
