I have been teaching dance for over 10 years. In that time I have found that, regardless of what style you are learning, everything is made of a few fundamental principals and components specific to that style. There are only so many ways you can move your feet and body. By understanding these principals & components, you can then put them together in any order with different style to create different dances. By laying the proper foundation, students have an easier time following choreography, learning to apply their own style, and even keeping up with a class. Once a dancer has a foundation to work up on, I introduce new concepts in layers to help dances feel better and develop a nicer aesthetic.

I am a classically trained dancer with 20 years experience in performance. I have always been passionate about historic costumes and was introduced to historic dance while getting my degree from Ga. State University. I am currently the director of the Atlanta Historic Dance Company. I've performed, taught and choreographed for performances on stage, at historic events and in the film industry for the last 10 years.
Historic Dance can run the gamut between beginning level dances up to professional level performance. I can tailor your lesson to fit your needs. The most popular lesson at the moment is the 1920's Charleston. I can also offer lessons in popular social dances from the Renaissance up through the 1960's.

We will be learning and working on elegant flows, hip isolations, drills, drag and drops, role of arms, looping hips and many more.

Dawn R. is an International Performing Artist, Certified Instructor, and Award Winning Choreographer. Classically trained in Ballet and Jazz, she specialises in Belly Dance but is also trained and holds teacher certifications in Silver Sneakers Boom Move and Boom Mind, Hot Hula Fitness, Fire Dancing, and Pilates. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a double minor in Psychology and Dance. She began her training in NYC with Serena in 1999. And has studied with Sema Yildiz in Istanbul Turkey in 2004. In 2009 she was 1 of 20 dancers worldwide chosen to attend Belly Dance Super Star’s main choreographer, Jillina’s weeklong belly dance intensive in Los Angeles, CA.

Her passion is helping educate her students and audience on the value of learning to dance in reducing stress, anxiety, and the risk of developing Alzheimer’s and dementia. She has been teaching belly dance classes since 2003.
