My goal as a teacher is to make students successful in their goals. I work with a variety of people; some of them study music for personal enjoyment and others for their musical career. Everyone responds differently to music, that is why I prepare special lessons for each student. It is important that my students enjoy what they are playing or singing and for that reason I have a variety of repertoire that they can choose from.
As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.

About Paul
Paul M is an American born, New York-based Piano teacher, Vocal coach, Pianist, Composer and Artist. As an educator, Paul is part of The Suffolk Piano Teachers Forum, College Music Society and Music Teachers National. He has been an Adjunct-instructor at New York University (NYU). Paul also conducts master classes and seminars in The United states and South America. For the past few years, he has implemented classes in composition and music history in the coastal area of Ecuador and New York. His music studio in New York City is in high demand. He works with piano, composition and vocal performance students of all levels and styles, which include classical, jazz, blues, Tango, and Broadway.  His recent public performances include Ecuador South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters NYC and The Staller Center. Paul has performed with The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and The New York University Symphony Orchestra. He has studied with well-known piano teachers including: Martin Canin, Morey Ritt, Tina Dahl, and Anita Gelber. In 2011 he released a record consisting of his performance of original compositions for solo piano that is available in bookstores and on iTunes.
As a composer Paul has composed music for the feature film Documentary Between the Shades, directed by Jill Salvino and premiered at the Soho International Film Festival in 2017. In 2014, Paul was the composer for the radio show Ackerman Associates Meets Dracula written and directed by Peter Stass. In 2014 he wrote the score for, Lies People Tell, a short film that premiered at the san pedro film festival. In 2011, he released his first solo record Succession of images, a song cycle for solo piano. In 2017, he released his second record Hope, a chamber music work recorded with clarinetist Thomas Piercy and Violinist Patrisa Tomassini. Recent public piano performances of his music include Ecuador in South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Spectrum NYC, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters in NYC and The Staller Center in Stony Brook NY.

As an artist, Paul is known for creating large instillations, paintings and live performing art pieces. From 2014-2016, he was the artist in residence at Spectrum Gallery in NYC. In 2014, he completed the Elevator Time Machine, a large instillation made of elevator parts that responds to sound. He also wrote and produced a 20 minute live art piece called Static in Movement for piano and video. His acrylic on canvas works have also been presented at Spectrum NYC, The Art Bar, The Gallery at Logos and Ward-Nasse gallery.

While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. My students, beginner intermediate and advanced levels, have been awarded for their performances and activities in schools and competitions.
I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.
As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.
Most recently I held a piano, composition and vocal recital for my students at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York City. I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

About Gfire
Gfire has been teaching and performing music full-time for over 17 years. Based in Austin, Texas, the "Live Music Capital of the World," she offers voice, piano, songwriting, yoga, folk guitar, and DJ'ing lessons to students from 5-105 and she specializes in sculpting her lessons to the strengths and desires of each individual student. Her students range from beginning to advanced levels, and they sing and play a multitude of musical styles, including classical, pop, rock, r 'n' b, country, folk, singer-songwriter, musical theater, blues and more.

Gfire loves to share her talents with her students. She prides herself on instilling a "sense of mastery" to each of her singing and piano students, no matter on which level they are. The students come away with a real sense of knowing their songs and their instruments inside out an

Gfire is also an award-winning singer-songwriter and "Yoga for the Voice" innovator. She has released 4 CDs of all-original music and is currently working on her 5th CD, to be released in 2015.

As a teacher, Gfire works with students of all levels and all areas of interest. In October 2007, Gfire became the only vocal teacher in the Western Hemisphere to gain full certification in the Science of Singing, developed by Ernest G. White of London, England. Her unique voice training program, entitled "Yoga for the Voice," combines this knowledge of the Science of Singing with ancient yoga breathing techniques. This technique allows each voice student to develop a "vocal tune-up" for the voice AND to discover what the natural singing range is and how to use the voice as effectively as possible. With the internet SKYPE technology, Gfire teaches voice students all over the world, from Switzerland to the U.K. to New Zealand to New York.

Her vocal students have sung in touring rock bands, on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, in successful auditions, in karaoke clubs, in coffee houses and folk clubs, at weddings and for their own enjoyment amongst family and friends. Whatever level of singing training you wish to acquire, she will show you the way to achieve it!

Gfire was also the main voice instructor and one of 3 main piano teachers at the Austin branch of Mars Music (now defunct) for 3 1/2 years. In addition to her vocal study and innovation, she has studied piano with top classical and jazz pianists, studied songwriting with Pat Pattison of Berklee College in Boston, gotten her full yoga teaching certification in 2004 and DJ'd at clubs and parties worldwide. For eight years straight - 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 - she has won the prestigious ASCAPlus Award for professional songwriting.

As a singer-songwriter, Gfire continues to write, record and perform with some of the best musicians and engineers in the world, including engineer Stuart Sullivan (Willie Nelson, Sublime, Meat Puppets, etc.), Hammond organ player Ian McLagen (Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart), cellist John Hagen (Lyle Lovett), fiddle/mandolin player Warren Hood (The Waybacks), bassist George Reiff (Ray Wylie Hubbard) and banjo picker Danny Barnes (Bad Livers, Dave Matthews).

Voice lessons - I have created a unique and wonderful vocal method, "Yoga for the Voice," which combines ancient yoga breathing exercises with special vocal exercises to give you a "complete vocal tune-up." These techniques are simple, effective and easily-learned by any student of the voice, from about age 5-105. I love to help you learn to apply these wonderful techniques to learning the songs you wish to learn - whether they are pop, r 'n' b, folk, singer-songwriter, rock, country, opera, musical theater, jazz, etc. "Yoga for the Voice" is just as effective for professional speakers, such as teachers, lawyers, clergymen or actors - we just use a range of notes that is smaller than a singer's range, and we focus on using your speaking voice as effectively and efficiently as possible.

In 3-6 months, you will be able to:

1. master the "breath of fire" and "one-minute breath" - the BEST yoga breaths for singers!
2. master the "sinus humming exercises" - identifying where EACH note in your range originates in your own head
3. master the "full-body exercises" - traditional singing exercises on "mah, mee, moh, moo, meh" - so that you can move easily between your chest voice, middle voice, and head voice
4. master 2-10 songs or more, depending on your level and the level of difficulty of each song - being able to sing each song in TUNE, with feeling, and having a blast doing it!!
5. if you wish, you can perform your song(s) at one of my voice and piano recitals - on a REAL Austin stage!!

Piano lessons - I teach a wide range of piano styles at levels from beginner to early advanced, beginning around age 5. Whether you want to learn classical, rock, blues, country, boogie-woogie, or other styles of piano and keyboard playing, I will sculpt your lesson plan so that you have a great foundation in technique AND you learn the styles and songs you wish to play.

In 3-6 months, you will be able to:

1. master the Leschetizky, hand massage, and isometric warm-up exercises - the BEST piano warm-ups!
2. depending on your level, master Hanon exercises 1-12, major and minor scales, major and minor arpeggios
3. for beginners, you will be able to play with BOTH hands on the treble and bass clefs - at the same time!!
4. master the I-IV-V progression in 3-12 keys, depending on your level - so that you can play blues, rock, country, boogie-woogie, and ragtime songs!!
5. master 4-20 songs or more, depending on your level and the level of difficulty of each song (classical songs tend to take more time to master) - being able to play each song with great technique, with feeling, and having a blast doing it!!
6. if you wish, you can perform your song(s) at one of my voice and piano recitals - on a REAL Austin stage!!

Songwriting lessons - I will teach you how to create a great song, in the style you wish to write in. Country songs, pop songs, rock tunes, r'n' b, folk, etc. - all of these genres have "unwritten rules" about how to put together an effective song. We will utilize special songwriting exercises and tools to help you learn to be a wonderful songwriter.

DJ lessons - I teach beat matching, turntable fine-tuning and repertoire selection to help you become the DJ you aspire to be. I own crates and crates of vinyl records and CDs, and I have DJ'd all over the world to enthusiastic crowds, so I can teach you to attain a real joy and skill in the art of turntablism.

Yoga lessons - I am a fully KRI-certified yoga teacher and I can help you develop a valuable yoga routine to help you achieve your health and relaxation goals. We will choose from literally hundreds of exercises and breathing techniques specifically geared to your needs and wants.

I was searching for a coach for my daughter who just loves acting and musical theater and fortunately for us we found Mia here at “takelessons”
This is a whole new world for us as I don’t know anything about this industry so I really didn’t know how to begin to help my daughter pursue her passion
I read Mia’s bio and I knew immediately that she would be a perfect fit for my daughter
Lucky for us she was less than an hour away so I signed my daughter up for lessons not really sure what to expect
My daughter is a senior in high school and just loves acting. She was involved in the plays at school but she had no experience singing and wanted to try

I provide lessons to beginner-intermediate students who are interested in learning the proper singing technique for classical music, opera, and musical theatre. In lessons, I help the students build a solid technique, learn new repertoire, and prepare for upcoming auditions. I always incorporate basic ear-training, solfege, and sight-reading practice that will aid the singer in learning and understanding music. For students learning pieces in foreign languages, I will also introduce the student to IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) and help him or her to feel comfortable with diction in multiple languages.

Hello, and welcome to my page! My philosophy for singing is that a truly great singer is versatile, and that the ideal voice is a flexible instrument that can handle a variety of genres and styles.

My personal training is primarily in classical, and I have a Master's degree in classical voice/opera from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. However, I also actively sing pop, musical theater, and even heavy metal!

Singing can be challenging, and while I work with the student intensely to diagnose and fix vocal issues, it is very important to me that the student feels happy and confident. I encourage students to express their creativity by singing in styles that they feel comfortable with, choosing their own songs, and even adding their own riffs/runs/ornamentations.

I like to place a heavy focus on music theory and sight-singing (I
offer private lessons in these subjects separately as well); It is extremely important for young singers to be able to read the notes on the staff, to understand rhythm and key, and to find pitches on the piano.

I accept beginning-intermediate singers of all ages. I additionally offer music theory, sight-singing, and diction lessons as well as beginner/introductory piano.

My daughter is learning a lot from Sara and so am I. We look forward to the classes as Sara is patient, encouraging, explains everything very well to my daughter and very knowledgeable about vocal training. We feel fortunate to have found her. My daughter who is shy is opening up to her, I can't wait to see where Sara could take her.

As an opera coach and accompanist I found that what makes a unique voice and singer is their tone and interpretation. Therefore my main focus is on tone, breathing technique, diction, interpretation and sight singing.

I am a fun, very experienced pianist, teacher, coach and artist.
In my early age I won many competitions and performed in solo recitals and with symphony orchestras, also as a chamber musician, therefore I understand what it takes to not just learn music but what it takes to be a great performer and interpreter of music.
My beginner students enjoy a fun way of learning to read notes and interpret even the simplest songs and pieces. I introduce my students to technique by teaching scales in many forms , exercises and etudes. I also teach them theory and give them written homework to practice their knowledge while away from the lessons. They are rewarded with surprise gifts after earning a certain amount of A grades. Students of school age are prepared for state evaluations and festivals and participate in studio recitals. I also work wit
h students on their sight reading skills, theory, harmony and basic composition which tremendously help their understanding of the pieces they learn and how to aproach memorization and ultimately the interpretation and composer’s musical intent.
Students also enjoy performing chamber music with their fellow musician friends and enjoy fun parties after recitals.
Adult students come to my classes for many reasons the main ones being: wanting to learn about music or to perfect their skills. Many students are also interested in preparing for auditions to music institutions or exams in the music field they are already majoring in. Other areas of interest my students have include church music, hymn improvisation and sacred music performance.
My studies began when I was 6 years old in my city of birth Brasov, Romania and ended with my Bachelor and Masters degrees at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. I performed all over the world as soloist and chamber musician together with my two brothers who are also professional musicians, violinist and cellist.
Students will be given a studio informational package upon registering with my studio which includes my resume, studio fees, studio activities and general studio activities information.
My students find me to be very funny but at the same time professional and very serious in my expectations of their weekly preparation for lessons.

Clementa has a magic with young and early-stage students that comes only from someone who truly loves teaching. Watching her in her mastery of one of her roles, one would never know of her other teaching talents -- her work with vocalists and as a music director among them -- much less her own musicianship worthy of a concert career. Holly is simply magnificent! She's incredibly talented and a wonderful teacher. My daughter took lessons from Holly for six years and had much success. She placed in All State, Governor's Honors and Honor Choirs. The best part was when she received a scholarship for vocal performance, all four years of college (undergrad)! Now, she's studying for her master’s degree in vocal pedagogy and performance. Holly's influence went beyond vocal performance skills, she's a mentor and role model to her students. We have so much respect, admiration and love for Holly. I enthusiastically recommend her!

I am a professional singer. Although I have studied the bel canto technique in my university studies, I have taught various genres using varied techniques to suit the student. I have performed in operas, classical song recitals in different languages, jazz, pop, and musical theater. I'm currently finishing my doctoral document to complete my doctor of musical arts degree in voice. I have sung on many stages in the country, Mexico and Spain as an opera singer, vocal soloist and as a chamber singer. My goal as a teacher is to share my knowledge so students can practice effectively on their own. I also wish for students to become life-long learners. I grew so much a singer while I was taking Cindy's classes. She is absolutely amazing! It was really awesome to be able to train songs in English and Spanish.

My technique majorly improved under her instruction. My voice never felt so strong.

Melynda Burdette Wintrol has been my teacher, my role model, my director of education, and most importantly one of best adult friends, and one of my many mothers in this business even though she loves being referred to as “the cool Aunt” for almost 5 years now. At age nine I went to ATMTC where Ms. Melynda was the Registrar, and I was a completely different person from the person I am today, I was shy and hiding. Through her guidance and training, not only has she skilled me in performance, she has made me the person I am today. I am no longer insecure with myself and actually love myself. Along with her incredibly wide range of vocal techniques, she is classically trained in Opera and can belt the heck out of any number you throw at her, she is a dancer as well in fact one of her special skills is her splits, but one of the best of her many many talents is she knows how to tie it all together with acting and tell a story. Aside from this she always wants everyone to succeed. She is what older actors call “the protective bubble” of the real acting world. She holds educational based auditions and she will calm you down if you are stressed, crying, or even breaking down. In a real audition directors would dismiss you. I’ve worked alongside her in professional productions as well and I can attest that there is no better teacher, nurturer, and friend in this business.
