I love working with my students. Watching them succeed at what they do is what makes my day great. I always love to have a fun atmosphere around me and enjoy every minute it. Music is great for self expression a great Escape or an easy pass-time. It's nothing that should be stressful, but the opposite and that is what my lessons aim to do. Students can look forward to getting acquainted with the cello- from posture and properly handling the instrument, note-reading, and playing their first songs with the bow.

About Lisa C.
After playing the violin for over 20 years, Lisa was inspired to share the gift of music with others by her teacher, Susanna Sonnenberg. Lisa is a member of the American String Teacher’s Association, and has attended the 2017 ASTA National Conference. She currently performs with the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra. Lisa has played in recitals, the Chartiers Valley High School Orchestra, and was accepted to the 2006 PMEA District Orchestra. She has studied with Larry Weiss, Linda Andersen, and others. Lisa can’t remember a time before she learned how to play the violin; it has brought her great joy. Her favorite piece to play is the Bach Double Concerto in D Minor.

At 8 years old, Lisa fell in love with the violin. Throughout school, she studied with private teachers and played with the school orchestra. At home, her dogs were a great audie
nce.

Lisa went on to study history at the University of Pittsburgh, and later earned her law degree from Duquesne. She never forgot her violin, though, and continued to play in her spare time.

Music adds beauty to the world, and finally, after years of keeping the violin to herself, Lisa decided to share her playing with others. Lisa teaches traditional, classical method. The method books she uses include: Essential Elements for Strings, Samuel Applebaum, and All for Strings, among others. She supplements the technical exercises with repertoire from the Suzuki series. Lisa enjoys playing all types of music, in addition to classical, and teaches these songs, as well. Additional music includes pop artists like Taylor Swift, classic rock, electronic music like Lindsey Stirling, celtic, folk, and just about any other type of music you can think of. As a teacher, Lisa strives to be positive and encouraging. She believes that music should be fun, so her main goal is to make sure her students are having a good time!

I think Lisa is a wonderful instructor who provides clear instruction and also knows pedagogy. She starts with a step-by-step approach to build a foundation. I am an older adult and her warmth and good sense of humor help, too.

"Old Dog Learns New Tricks"
I couldn't ask for more in a teacher. I am a newbie to the cello and Lisa made me feel very comfortable and also, her teaching style is very clear, logical, starting with the basics and building step-by-step. She has a good sense of humor, too. All said, after only my first lesson, I think my learn a new trick: playing a song or two on the cello. Deb Bisacchi, MEd, MSW

As a violist and string enthusiast, my appreciation and knowledge of the cello runs fairly deep. I had studied and taught myself how to play the cello with the guidance of a professional cellist some many years ago, but I've always been eager to teach the cello to any willing student with a deep appreciation. Students can expect a curriculum catered to their needs and desires, whether they be to on the road to a professional musician or just the hobbyist and a teacher who is dedicated to their educational growth and desires.

About Ashley
I am currently a junior at Ramapo College studying music education but I am no foreigner to teaching. I have been teaching for some years now with general ages ranging between 3 to 25, in the violin, viola and cello. I have also taught music theory from a beginner's standpoint to a college sophomore level in conjunction with teaching said instruments. I have a passion for teaching that I love to give my students the passion of learning as teaching is not only fun, but also one of the most rewarding experiences in life as is having the guidance and educational support of a good teacher. Students can expect my 110% effort and know they can depend on me for consistency, accuracy and personalized lesson plans based on the level and goals they want to achieve. I aim to foster a supportive learning environment for my students in their hom
es or practice space of their choice as the main root of discontinuity in studies is the lack of support and passion. Feel free to contact me at anytime should any questions arise and remember, music is about having fun, so let's have fun!

Ashley was very helpful to me. I was floundering. I am a brand new 'musician', still learning to read music. I would still be working with her, but I had to move suddenly. She was very encouraging and I hope to be able to continue lessons again with someone in my new location.

I really enjoyed my 1st lesson with Ashley. She gave me hope that I’m not a basket case. I feel encouraged that I might someday play well enough not to send people running for earplugs or exits.

Jeanmarie helped me to learn the proper way to hold the cello and the bow. She watched carefully to be sure I maintained that throughout the lesson. I am pleased that she is going to be sure I learn to play the cello well to prevent injuries. She also gave me some very basic bowing and finger exercises to practice this first week so I begin to build correct muscle memory before I go on to working with sheet music.

Whether you are just starting out on cello or have some experience with the instrument, lessons are customizable to fit your skill level and comfort. Each student is able to create their own personal goals that we will work towards and achieve. I have been playing cello for almost 10 years and have been teaching for 1.5 years. My mission is to help students grow as musicians and learn the true importance and impact of music.

About Gigi
I have been a cellist for about ten years, I am currently a college student with teaching experience of about 1.5 years. Although I'm a fairly new teacher, I am fully committed to my students and have a strong passion for music to which I hope to spread to my students.

Currently, I am involved in two orchestras, a Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. In the past I have also been apart of a local youth group orchestra as well as multiple honors orchestras throughout my time in high school. I take private lessons myself for solo work and do gigs for weddings and events.

I teach cello at the beginner and intermediate levels, all age ranges are welcome! My aim as a teacher is to structure lessons around what students hope to accomplish. I believe goal setting is a very important aspect of being a musician and encourage it within
my lessons. I also strive to spread the value of music to my students and advocate for them to find their own meaning of music.
