I have played many styles of guitar on booth acoustic and electric, including classical, jazz, blues, rock, funk, pop, folk, Latin, and Celtic. In my personal practice I am currently enjoying learning more about open tunings and live looping with a pedal. Ryan was great! He's obviously a talented guitarist and he is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. He shows you in detail what you need to do to become a better guitar player. My ONLY advice, and the reason he doesn't get 5 stars, is I think he should have more visual aids with his lessons. For example, write down the different scales or transcribe the first several measures of a song. Then, one has something to refer back to when you are practicing and invariably get stuck. Other than that, I would highly recommend Ryan as a guitar teacher!

"I have been a student of Tim’s for a little over a year now. I started playing guitar at age 52 and when I started with Tim I was very close to giving up or settling on just being able to strum a few chords. I have had many hand injuries in the past that have resulted in arthritis and lack of dexterity in my wrists and some of my fingers and I started doubting I would ever be able to progress in my ability to play. From the very first lesson where I told Tim about my hand issues and my frustrations, he told me he was sure we could work around any physical limitations I had, and he was right. Tim has been able to work with me on alternative ways to play the chords I was having trouble with and has shown me that these alternate techniques along with the bit of music theory he sprinkles into lessons can really expand my ability to play.

In the time I have been studying with Tim, I have done more than I thought I ever could. I went from a frustrated beginner guitar player to having enough confidence to play on stage with some of Tim’s other students and I am now looking forward to what I will be able to do on the guitar instead of being frustrated with what I can’t do.

"Heading into my first class with Tim, I had almost no musical experience (at least for the last 15+ years). In a very casual way, he was able to get a sense of where I was and where he should start with my instruction.

I was very reluctant to take lessons at first, but my wife got me started with Tim and it was really worth it. He was accommodating to my relatively slow speed of learning and easily adapted to my own musical preferences and interests.

His studio is a great space and is located within a really cool, historic building. The sound is fantastic and it's a comfortable space to practice in.

I highly recommend Tim for lessons - especially for adults who may not be able to dedicate hours a day to practicing. I took lessons weekly for three months and I got a great foundation for practicing. Once my life settles down a little, I definitely hope to go back."
