I've been teaching Broadway/Music Theater singing for 6 years and my students have gone on to perform leading, supporting, and ensemble roles throughout the Twin Cities and Wisconsin. My goal is to get each student familiar first with the general workings of the voice, then to find out together what their individual instrument is. Each voice is built differently. I specialize in classical and theater voice, typically use am able to provide sheet music to use in lessons, and have the following tools available for your lessons: piano, internet, music library. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
I have been active in the musical theater scene in my background and believe I teach that fine balance between belt, mix, and head voice that is so necessary to continue longevity.
Our voice is the most personal expression we can share. I feel very passionate about helping others create a personalized 'toolkit' of exercises designed to promote proper posture, ease of breath support and help guide the vocal explorer in developing their most perfect resonance and pitch control. The end result is the ability to sing, speak, stand and move with relaxed authenticity by encouraging a calmly energized physical demeanor which increases confidence.
My foundation is bel canto technique; to expand range, create full tone, sing with ease & power, build breath support & learn to maintain vocal health.
Additionally, we learn shape the vowel sound to change the 'color', to produce a rock, pop, R&B, classical or legit style.I've taught voice for over 16 years, backed by a lifetime of performing & 12 years of private vocal studies. I also lived and worked in Los Angeles for 12 years.
I am committed to helping people develop their authentic, unique voice.
