Cello lessons in my studio, at your home, or on-line.

About Jessica
I have 20 years of playing experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance. I was the section leader of my university's orchestra as well as a full-scholarship member of the university quartet. As a professional gigging musician, I have played with Il Divo, Mario Winans, La Jolla Symphony, Doctor's Symphony, Porta Caeli Chamber Players, and the quartet La Dolce.

I am a member of MTAC (Music Teacher's Association of California) and can sign my students up for Certificate of Merit. This is a music study program with an annual evaluation and written assessment. Stand-out students will be invited to play at the Branch Recital.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons differ slightly depending on the student. In general, it starts with scales for intonation or working on vibrato, moves on to an etude or exercise, and culminate
s with work on a piece of music. But not every student works well with this method, so I will add in some musical worksheets and ear training games for those that require lessons with more variety.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can come to your home to teach. I will bring all necessary method books and teaching materials.

Jessica is an awesome teacher for my 8th grader. She has an excellent lesson plan which she has catered to my daughters skill level. Jessica is flexible in helping her learn school assigned music pieces and has given her the one on one attention and tips that she was lacking with school orchestra. The online classes have been easy and convenient. I'm so glad we signed up.

About Kyle
Hello potential students! I have a B.A. in instrumental music education and composition. I have taught private lessons for over 12 years. Teaching private music lessons is my primary job, so I have much experience and wisdom compared to teachers who teach "on the side." Students of all ages stay with me a long time because I am very flexible in my teaching and know how to interact with many personalities and learning styles, producing great results and progress. My specialties are piano, woodwinds, and music technology (i.e. recording and production). You can find more information about me and what I do at caseymusicservice﮳com.

Kyle has given me contra bass, aka upright bass, weekly lessons from August 2015 through May 2016. I have never played a string instrument prior to this, although I do play piano and have played the flute, bagpipes, and piccolo over the years. I did not need education in reading music.

Kyle was able to take me from sounding like a lower octave version of Jack Benny (a mid-20th century comedian famous for his howlingly horrid violin playing) to a level where I know how to hold the instrument and the bow, the fingerings, bowing technique, and how to get a very respectable sound from the instrument.

He also installed the strings when I received the new instrument, found a manufacturing flaw in the bridge height that the manufacturer subsequently paid to repair, and diagnosed a resonance issue with the instrument that was corrected with a balance weight on the string below the bridge.

The subject of lessons will depend on the needs and level of the individual player, but students can expect to see any of these focal points:
Form/posture/balance while playing, reading and understanding music, learning hand positions, tips for enhancing sound, learning how to find meaning in the music (more than just notes on the page), etc.

About Amber
I've been in Rockwall ISD's orchestra program for seven years and have studied for two and a half of those years with a retired cello professor.I have some experience teaching with my younger brother and my cousin, but have not yet given lessons to others although I am excited to do so. As a student myself, I can help beginner and intermediate cello students advance to a higher level of playing. I will focus a lot on basic form, posture, and balance as I see many young cellists struggle with these things, and then when their playing is at a level where I can no longer do much besides practice with them, I will recommend another teacher who can help them develop further. If you are looking for someone who will sit and practice with the student and help them learn music, although it would not do much to help them, I am happy to do that as w
ell.
Recently I also have added Spanish as one of my subjects. I took Spanish classes at Rockwall High School and went up through Spanish 4 at the International Baccalaureate level, earning a 6 on the final IB exam. Spanish is a useful and interesting language to have, especially here in Texas.
I look forward to teaching you/ your student :)

I took a couple viola lessons from Ms. Deanna last year and it was an excellent experience. Ms. Deanna is an amazing teacher who teaches with great clarity and detail. She not only helped perfect my viola technique, she also taught me how to practice effectively. She taught me several time management methods and how to practice exactly what I need to practice with the limited time I have. With these methods, I am able to approach new music quickly and efficiently.

I'm a professional cellist and an enthusiastic and knowledgable cello teacher. I have 15 years of teaching experience and have taught students as young as 5, teenagers, and adults. All levels are welcome, including absolute beginners and advanced students.

I received conservatory training in New York, with further studies in Boston. I have a varied performing experience: from Boston Ballet, to MTV Unplugged, to my own chamber music concert series in Cambridge, MA.

As a teacher, I strive to understand each student as an individual and then fit my teaching approach to them. I bring several important things to lessons: a very clear understanding of cello technique, a love for music, an open mind, and plenty of patience :-)

About Nick
I'm an experienced and enthusiastic cello teacher and performer. I enjoying sharing my love for music and the cello (and piano!) with others. I feel that I learn from my students, as well, and am always interested in expanding my teaching to accommodate their unique musical interests and strengths. It's also very rewarding to see a student's sense of accomplishment, newfound freedom, and individual expression, as they progress on each step of the learning process.

I strive to be as clear as possible in my explanations of technique and welcome questions and observations from my students. Together with the student, I make sure to overcome any obstacles that interfere with musical expression. Also, I emphasize that musicality is the real of focus of cello, rather than just "playing the notes". Finally, the unique artistic perspective of eac
h student is very important to me. I tailor the musical pieces and approach to each student's interests and individual personality.

Music has always fascinated me. I'll never forget the day in the 4th grade, when high school students came and demonstrated all of the orchestra instruments. The tone and beautiful sound of the cello piqued my curiosity, and I knew immediately that it was the instrument for me!

ABOUT ME
• Over 30 years of experience in music industry
• Teaching experience includes private lessons, after-school string enrichment program
• BA in Christian Education / Minor in Music (Central Bible College-Evangel University.
• Member of the Texas Music Educators Association

ABOUT LESSONS
• Students of all ages (5 through adult) welcomed
• Lesson content designed to match level of student
• Music assignments (including region, all-state, and solo competition pieces) are designed to develop technique, teach basic music theory, and introduce literature that is characteristic of the cello.

About David
I have been teaching students and conducting groups of vocalists and instrumentalists for over 30 years. It’s one of my passions!

Why? Because I love the interaction with people, the camaraderie of making music together, the reward of everyone reaching for their potential and accomplishing things they might not achieve on their own!

My career in music has taken a many forms, such as Tour/Music Director for an international touring group called Celebrant Singers, Worship Arts Associate Pastor at Peoples Church in Fresno, California, and Pastor of Performing Arts at Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas. I've also taught private lessons in public school (Northwest ISD and Carrollton-Farmer's Branch ISD) and in after-school string enrichment programs.

Regular comments from people I have worked with are:

“You inspire me to be a better perfo
rmer.”

“Patience is your weapon. The peace that surrounds you, then flows to us, allows us to stay positive and focused!”

“Your sweet spirit and gentle encouragement have created such a safe atmosphere.”

“I grew so much personally and professionally.”

“Some of my favorite practice times were in the rehearsal room!”

We will work hard in our lessons; learning an instrument takes commitment. At the same time, you'll grow and refine your skills as a musician. The effort you put in will be reflected in how you develop.

Music assignments (including region, all-state, and solo competition pieces) are designed to develop technique, teach basic music theory, and introduce musical literature characteristic of the cello.

If that sounds appealing to you, then let's get started!

David is an incredibly versatile musician, and offers a unique set of skills to his private lessons students from his vast experience in performing and teaching cello, as well as conducting, arranging and musical theater production. He is an excellent performer and is equally comfortable playing classical styles as he is playing popular music. Lastly, David is one of the most professional individuals I have ever worked with, and is a generous and kind-hearted person.

I began taking lessons with Mr. Schubert when I was four, and for the next nine years I was given a solid foundation of music theory while I learned my instrument. Being under his teaching helped me to develop a broader and deeper understanding of music and my instrument, which has opened many doors for me throughout the years. I am very thankful to have taken lessons from Mr. Schubert!
