About Peter
I'm a multi-instrumentalist from the Northwest with lots of love for teaching people to groove. I got my bachelor's degree in music from Whitman College with an emphasis in Jazz Performance. I can teach anyone to rock, swing or get unreasonably funky. Lessons can be casual or serious and I'm down to tell you how to get to Carnegie Hall or onto the stage at the local jam.

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to teach my students what they want to learn! I'm always game for setting up a fun path to being able to play your favorite songs as fast as possible. I don't scold or shame and having a blast is the name of my game. I can teach you to improvise, read music, become a strummer or virtuoso, it's all up to you.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the basement studio, piano, guitars, amps, hand drums, a bass, woodwinds, FULL DRUM SET!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can travel with a sax, flute, guitar, electric bass, and a didgeridoo....

*** Specialties ***
I'm a jazz musician! But I listen to and perform all styles of music. I have written string quartets, been the front man for a funk band, and recorded every style of music under the sun. I can teach Bach and the Beatles and explain how/ and why they intersect and are similar musically.

About Doug
If you want to confidently play to your favorite songs and have the time of your life doing it, I'm the right instructor for you.

In short, my students think of playing guitar as a healthy addiction.

Throughout my music career, I've realized the traditional teaching method is the main reason people end up quitting.

Most instructors will teach you all the basics and then when you're ready, you can start to learn the songs you like..

But I do it differently.

The reality is that with the right guidance, you can go directly into the most fun part - jamming out to your favorite songs.

---

The reason this has worked so well:
-You'll want to pick up your guitar and play over and over again because each time you're
-having fun
-and getting better each time you play.

With my te
chnique and properly set goals, you can grow your skills quickly and reduce the amount of time and energy spent on inefficient practicing.

What you'll learn is that most songs are based on a formula and you can crack this musical code with each song you learn, making it more exciting each time you play.

**The genres I specialize in are anything related to rock, pop, alt, metal, and reggae. **

_______________________________________________________________________

If you've already gotten this far, you probably have a pretty strong interest in playing - and thats all you need to be a great musician.

I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor's in Jazz Studies, and have been teaching private drum lessons for over a decade. My lessons are tailored to achieve YOUR goals, and I design a unique lesson plan to fit your learning style. I have experience working with every age group, and have even coached school ensembles, and given clinics about a variety of music topics.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I strongly believe that playing music should be nothing but pure joy. Learning to play the drums is simply the process of training your body and mind to better express yourself using rhythm and timbre. This process can vary greatly from person to person, and the end result is different for everyone. Although the process of learning anything can feel like a chore at times, I believe every moment of study should be designed to achieve your personal goals. The learning process should be fun, and easy to navigate. Playing music becomes more fun the better you get, and the path to

About Adam
Hey drummers! I love music, and the only thing I love better is sharing the art of making music with you! I feel that drums are the backbone of music and that rhythm is essential to synchronizing all the emotions we express through music. Let's embark on a journey together to explore how playing music becomes exponentially more fun the better you get!

My 9-year old son recently started taking lessons with Adam. I had to find a new instructor after his previous instructor move out of the area. I'm really happy that we found Adam. He's a great guy and as an instructor he's very patient and brings a plan to each lesson. He splits the lesson among exercises to build limb independence, practice with metronome to develop consistent timing, and playing along songs (picked with input from my son). Adam also makes it easy to schedule lessons based on our needs and is very responsive via email and phone/text.

I hadn't had a music lesson in about 35 years, so I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I had bought a drum set for kicks and was screwing around a bit but hadn't really focused on much of anything and was pretty much treading water. Incremental improvement but nothing to write home about.

I've found that Adam is ready to meet you at your level and he has got me working on some basics (a reminder of just how sloppy my playing was/is) and I (think) I'm improving pretty rapidly and am starting to recognize things I hadn't noticed before. If there's an issue, it has been my erratic practice schedule. He has also been really flexible with respect to schedule, lesson length etc. - important for someone like myself who is works and has kids with their own busy schedules.

I'm completely new to the drums and decided to do a trial lesson with Adam several months ago. The lessons are fun and informative, and I have improved so much since I started lessons with Adam. He does a great job of starting good drumming habits, and building off of basics so that you can be a well-rounded drummer. He is a great teacher, combining his expertise with what you as a student want to learn so that it's fun and interesting. Highly recommended for both beginners and drummers with experience looking to improve!

I mainly focus on the drumset and how to play with others or play along with the music you like. I can also teach theory, reading and different percussion instruments. In my studio I have two drumsets facing each other so I can show you things as we learn them, and we can jam together. I also have an electric guitar nearby that I can plug into for real world experience! The styles I specialize in are rock, punk, metal, pop, and latin. I like to cater the learning experience specifically to each student, because everyone wants something different out of there lessons. Tell me what you want to learn and I will work with you!

About Eric
Hey! My name is Eric, I am a drummer, guitarist, bassist, and songwriter based in the DC area. I currently play guitar in one touring alternative/punk rock band, bass in an indie-pop band, and drums in a punk/metal band.

I graduated from Syracuse University in 2017 with a Bachelors in Music and Entertainment Industries. Growing up my dad gave drum lessons out of our basement which is where I first learned. When I'm not playing gigs I work at a popular music venue in DC as a production manager. I specialize in drumming, guitar, and songwriting. I have experience teaching kids and adults, and I have a home studio with lots of instruments and multiple drum sets to mess around with. I have recorded multiple albums for friends and myself at my home, and can teach about that too if students are interested.

My teaching style is laid back but
productive. I am patient with students and able to communicate in a way that someone of any level can understand and relate with.

About Daniel
Daniel Choi is a Portland based drummer and instructor, originally from the Seattle area. Daniel was raised in a musical household and began taking music lessons at age 5 (starting with piano then cello), it wasn't until age 10 however Daniel found his true musical passion, drums. Daniel first started under the instruction of fusion drummer Ed Mays and developed into a well-rounded groove oriented player. In 2014, Daniel graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Music Technology and Political Science, before moving to the Portland area.

Daniel emphasizes versatility and musicality in all playing styles; he lives by the motto "the rules we choose to break and how we break them, define our style" (among other mottos you'll discover throughout his lessons). Daniel teaches out of a personal beginner curriculum he
's developed over the years (combining the educational philosophies of "Funky Primer", "Groove Essentials for the Modern Drummer" and "The Language of Drumming"), before branching out into custom tailored lessons for each individual student.

Daniel is located in the North Portland area and is available to drive out to lessons in the Portland and Vancouver areas.
