About Erin
I have a Master's in Vocal Performance from Portland State University, and over a decade of vocal training and performance experience.

I teach voice lessons to kids, teenagers, and adults.

My voice students range in ability from absolute beginner to intermediate with significant previous musical and vocal training. I have helped the beginning students learn to match pitch and read notes on the staff. My voice students learn to sing with purer vowels, increased breath support, and to access greater vocal range.

I teach beginning piano to all ages. I teach students as young as 5 as long as they are able to stay focused for the duration of a half hour lesson. Most of my piano students are in the 7 -10 range, but I teach some beginning adults as well.

*** Lesson Details ***
Voice students will learn to improve their technique thr
ough proper breathing, correct vowels, space, and resonance. I teach repertoire based on the students' interest, but I am well versed in classical and operatic repertoire in English, French, German, and Italian, as well as some musical theatre and jazz. I also teach pop songs for those who are interested. I can help you improve your technique for whatever style of music you want to sing.

Piano students will learn to read music, play with correct form, learn scales, and improve their musicianship skills. I teach out of lesson books (mostly Faber) to improve technique, but I want students to learn supplemental pieces that are fun for them as well.

I hope to share with you the same joy I get from making music!

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studio at home has a piano, my music library, a large mirror for aiding the student in observing their vocal habits.

*** Travel Equipment ***
For in home lessons, students will need to have a keyboard or a piano in a space free of distractions. Students should have a neat, three ring binder to hold any loose sheet music. Piano students need a regular notebook to write lesson assignments.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in teaching classical art songs and musical theatre.

Great first lesson! I feel like I learned a lot about technique and pronunciation. I get really nervous to sing in front of people but Erin made me feel comfortable. I definitely recommend her if you want to not only sing better but also learn the lingo, techniques, and theory. Looking forward to our next lesson :)

About Don
Don brings over 36 years of teaching experience in Piano, Voice, and Guitar. His relaxed and humorous approach to music encourages students to embrace a love for the musical art.

With 2 American Idol finalists to his credit, along with numerous students who have gone on to professional careers in theater, television, and film. He also has 16 years experience as Musical Director for over 45 theatrical productions in Southern California, Oregon, and Washington.

He has received an award in Southern California for Outstanding Musical Direction in a theatrical production of "The King and I." He is currently the vocal coach for Magenta Theater and Musical Director for Metropolitan Performing Arts Academy, both in Vancouver, WA.

He has traveled the US with The Continental Singers, an international singing group, been a choral director
in churches and various performing groups. He has worked as a recording studio engineer, live sound engineer, and theater sound designer.

Don strives to bring out the best in each student. Whether a beginner, intermediate, or advanced student, Don will expand your musical horizon and styles to new levels.

*** Lesson Details ***
All that I request from a student is a desire to learn. I will work with you at your pace to achieve the musical goals you have. Each student begins at a different level.

The first lesson will focus on your musical background. If you are a beginner, that's no problem. I specialize in working with beginning students to teach them all the joy and satisfaction there is in mastering an instrument.

I love to laugh and the lessons are very laid back and fun, but I desire that a student move forward and learn new techniques.

You will be playing simple songs after your first lesson. I'm asked many times by students "how long will it take until I'm good." My answer is: that is in direct proportion to the amount of time you dedicate to practicing. After a month or two, you will know how to read music and have a basic understanding of music theory.

I use various curriculum depending on the student's need. For piano, I generally use Alfred Methods. For guitar, Hal Leonard or Mel Bay. For voice, the curriculum is individually tailored to the students level and goals.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in theatrical performance for actors/vocalists.

Being a Senior, I felt that a person who was close to my age would be better for me. I feel now that we would have gotten along even if I was 10 years old. Don brought me to a comfortable level from the outset with his style and knowledge.

Hello! My name is Adam and I'm so happy to be a part of this community! I've moved here from the east coast where I was a teacher and co-director for music programs at a K-8 music school for 6 years. Currently, I'm a director for a music program in North Portland. During my almost two decades of teaching around the world, I've come across many students of all ages with various levels. Many have won competitions and have participated in regional bands. I’ve graduated with honors from New England Conservatory of Music with a Masters in flute performance. I’ve studied in Switzerland with James Galway and in London with William Bennett, and in the USA with Tara O’Connor and Paula Robison. While living in Germany, I studied at the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende in Frankfurt with Thaddeus Watson. With my verse background in performi

About Ron-Jay
Hello! I'm Ron-Jay Gage, and I can teach you to play the drums. I have about 22 years of experience; I actively write, record and perform live music in three bands, and I am proficient in many musical styles including Rock and Metal.

Whether you want to play in school band, orchestra, marching, jazz, rock, or play with your friends at home, I can show you the tools to becoming really good. Some of my teachers include multi-time world rudimental snare drum champion Rob Carson, Chuck Silverman (The Latin/Funk Connection), Fred Dinkins (It's About Time), Gary Hess (The Encyclopedia of Reading Rhythms), Jeff Bowders (Double Bass Drumming), and dozens of other professionals with decades of experience in all styles of music including rock, funk, r&b, jazz, latin. I have also studied classical percussion at Indiana University with Braham Dem
bar, Principal Percussionist of the Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestra, and also have a Music Performance degree from The Musician's Institute.

I have decades of experience, I am organized, enthusiastic and well-rounded, and I've been teaching since 2012. My comprehensive lesson plan leads students to an understanding of hand and foot techniques, rudiments, patterns, coordination, 4-limb interdependence, grooving, filling, song structure, odd meters, theory and ear-training all while having fun and applying it how you hear it. My curriculum derives largely from the curricula of the best instructors in the country, and your lessons will be tailored to meet your personal needs.

Hi there. my name is Viola Rose. I am 47 years old. I have been playing Handpan for 4 years. I have played hand drums and percussion instruments for 26 years. and am now offering handpan and hand drum lessons for beginning and intermediate players. for online lessons you would need to have your own handpan or drum . but for in person lessons in Portland Oregon, you would not need to have your own handpan or hand drums as you can use mine. I am joyful and super inspired by the Handpan and playing drums.
I also offer vocal training for those wanting to "find their voice" and to learn to sing from their heart center and embody their voice. I have been singing my whole life in solo prjects and in Bands. you can find my CD "veils of Twilight" on itunes, CD Baby and YouTube

Most people think of Songwriting as a flat straight forward activity. Keep it 3 min., stay in the accepted framework, be sure to rhyme in the right places, don't use clichés.., I look at the norm as an opportunity and a challenge. How do you write a great song but push the envelope? My favorite thing is when I take a cliché and stand it on its ear "The early bird catches the worm" can become "He said somethin' 'bout an early bird when he got me out of bed" Why waste a great line like that because someone said don't use a cliché. I will help you explore, be creative and still write a professional style song. Let’s work hard, create and have fun!

Focus of training – Genre’s - Country, Rock, Pop, Singer-Songwriter -
1.) Songwriting – Beginner to Advanced
• Lyric writing & Story telling - Even if you don’t sing or play an instrument
you can still tell a story, write a lyric or learn basic guitar
• Song Structure

2.) Coaching –
• Artistic Awareness
• Rhythm Guitar
• Music theory
• The Nashville Numbers System
• Vocal performance
