Let's get you started on your new guitar path!

About Abby
My name is Abby, and I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now. I graduated from Musician's Institute in 2007, and since then, I have had a great deal of experience teaching guitar to kids and adults, both individually and in groups.

I've spent three summers in a row teaching at Camp Jam and Day Jams, and I had the pleasure of being the Camp Jam kids director of the Orange County location in 2008. They were both great experiences . I have spent he last couple summers teaching School of Rock summer camps which was also a really fun time.

I love helping students find their passion for music and the creative process. I have been teaching at my current music school for about two years, and privately for about 6 years.

I have studied and taught many different styles of guitar, as well as note reading and theory. You could
say I'm a rock player at heart, but I love all styles.

I am currently not traveling to homes for lessons, but I am still taking students who are able and willing to come to my location.

I've been teaching guitar for 10 years. I tailor lesson plans to help each individual student reach his or her goals. I teach chords, rhythm playing, and various scales (for soloing), and I believe a good foundation in proper technique makes for the best guitar players.

About Victoria
My name is Victoria. I'm originally from beautiful San Diego, California, but I am now a full time professional musician based out of Philadelphia. I've instructed students (of varying ages and backgrounds) from all over the country on bass, guitar, live performance, and song writing. This includes one-on-one instruction and group lessons. I received a certification in live performance, studio work, and songwriting through The Contemporary Music Center, now located in Nashville, TN. And I I Finished my Bachelor's degree at Eastern University

I've toured all over the country with acts such as Talain Rayne and played bass on his album "Attic Lights." I also completed an internship in Nashville, TN with hit songwriter, Kate York.
For the past five years, I've played with the band Element K (under Shore Bets booking agency) as the lead
singer and guitarist. I've played shows all over the Northeast including (but not limited to) Xfinity Live, Wells Fargo Center, Hard Rock Cafe, The Tin Angel, Borgata AC, Ballys, Tropicana, and Seacrets in OCMD.
I love music and the role it has played in shaping my life. I value the experiences and wisdom passed on to me by my music mentors and instructors, who not only had a meaningful impact on my music career but also immensely influenced my development as a person.
I look forward to having that same positive impact on any student I instruct :)

*** Lesson Details ***
I like lessons to be, first and foremost, an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. I try to create a laid back and comfortable learning environment for all my students. Music is fun, and I guarantee that there will be plenty of good times while taking lessons!
Now, let me also clarify that my positive attitude and laid back demeanor are not excuses for students to be undisciplined and uncommitted. I promise to work hard toward your development as a musician to make you the best you can be, and I appreciate the same commitment from all of my students.
Music should be enjoyable, but also rewarding and enriching to your life! I don’t want to sell that short!

Below is a basic rundown of what a student can expect to learn while under my instruction. I would first like to preface this information by saying that I fully recognize that every student is different; therefore, I tailor lessons to fit an individual’s needs and goals. Because of this, the priority of certain skills tends to vary from one student to another, as does the order in which this skills are taught. I also want to note that I tend to use some self-made resources (charts, explanations, etc) in addition to published books. Taking into consideration the aforementioned variables, here is the basic rundown of the material I try to cover with students, in the general order it is taught:

-Understanding of guitar parts (anatomy of the instrument) and basic terms (ie note, chord, etc).
-Names of strings (E-string, B-string, etc.) and corresponding numbers for strings (1-6), and which fingers are given what numbers.
-Tuning of the instrument
-Basic technique (how to finger a fret board, hold guitar, hold pick, etc).
-How to find notes on the fret board/chromatic
-Basic rhythm concepts and counting (whole notes, quarter notes, time signatures, etc)—usually involves clapping exercise, single note playing exercises, reading rhythm charts, and learning what different note values look like.
-Basic concepts of “keys”
-Basic major and minor scales (especially for “warming up”)
-Chords (mostly basic open chords)
-Strumming
-Learning songs to put concepts together
For more advanced students, we will likely get into the following:
-Power chords, bar chords, and complex chords beyond majors and minors.
-Scales beyond basic majors and minors
-Music theory (chord construction, modes, etc).
-Knowledge of gear (for those guitarist who wish to branch out to electric guitar)—bass players will already have to know some of this before moving to more advanced work since they already require an amp.
-How to play with other musicians and instruments (collaboration, listening, understanding each instrument’s part, etc).

[To give students a basic timeline for these skills, one can expect to be playing open chords within three months and probably their favorite songs within 6 months]

SONGWRITING TEACHING METHODS:
-Review slides about basic song structure and anatomy of songs (verse, hook, etc)
-lyric and vocal phrasing
-finding your voice as a writer
-exploring environments and conditions that foster one’s creativity for writing songs (preference for outdoors, quite secluded spaces, etc).

LIVE PERFORMANCE:
-Breathing/relaxation exercises
-Movement/watching footage of self
-Watching footage of others
-Acting/stage exercises to get out of your head and into your body
-learning common problems with live performances and becoming comfortable with fast, on-the-spot trouble shooting (and how to avoid some problems before they begin).
-Finding your stage voice, both in singing and speaking.
-Developing your stage persona

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the living room
Equipped with guitars, bass amp, guitar amp, guitar cables, and tuner.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student should provide his or her own guitar (and amps when applicable)

*** Specialties ***
I'm currently a professional musician that sings and plays guitar and bass for pop and rock music. We perform in front of thousands of people each week so I'm very comfortable giving live performance instruction as well.

Tim did a great job of explaining the lessons and provided valuable information about reading music. Now that my daughter is older, I have more time to practice, and look forward to taking lessons soon.

Whether you dream of becoming a singer-songwriter, or the lead guitarist in a rock band, I will provide you the tools you need to make those dreams come true. I have many years of experience playing many styles of music. If you want to learn to play your favorite songs, or even right your own music, I can help.

About Billy
My name is Billy and I am a trombonist/guitarist currently living in New York City. I am studying Jazz Trombone at the New School For Jazz and Contemporary Music in Greenwhich Village. I have a lot of performing and teaching experience, performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall (Stern Auditorium and Zankel Hall), Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Jazz Standard, Smoke Jazz Club, and many other venues around the city. I have had several students for both trombone and guitar, and teach music theory, composition, and ear training as well. I have experience in a variety of different styles of music. I really enjoy sharing my love for music with my students, and my main priority is making sure that my students' learning experiences are as effective and enjoyable as possible.

Billy was an amazing resource who helped me develop concrete playing and practicing skills and become a more confident improviser. He was extremely patient and thorough and took extra time to make sure things would stick. Highly recommended!

I played the trombone when I was a kid but lost interest back then. After not playing for about 15 years Billy helped me to get back to it. We covered reading notes, learning a little bit about music theory (keys etc) and of course playing. I wanted to practice with some songs I like and Billy was able to write the notes down for me. This was super helpful and really made me enjoy playing the trombone again! We practiced in a room in the New School, which was cool since I could play as loud as I wanted, compared to back at home where I usually use a mute. He was very patient and friendly and I can highly recommend him as a teacher.

I have been teaching guitar to students of all ages for 8 years and my students learn from a unique modern approach. I put a strong emphasis on music theory and technique to equip students to understand music, not just mimic. I teach a wide array of genres and styles and tailor the learning process to specifically fit my students needs. I typially use Hal Leonard or alfred's books for beginners but also teach tablature, and how to read more advanced chord charts.

About Mark
I was born into a musical family and have always had a love of music from an early age. I started playing guitar at age 10 and piano a few years after that. My love for music led me to Visible Music College in Memphis TN where I graduated with a bachelor in guitar performance in 2014. I have been teaching private and group lessons to children and adults in both guitar and piano for 8 years. I have a very modern approach to music teaching, putting the emphasis on theory and technique to equip any student with the tools they need. I love seeing my students succeed and grow musically and most importantly to have fun playing any style of music!

Josh is an incredible musician, teacher, guitar, and bass player (haven't tried his singing lessons yet). His knowledge on both theoretic and practical aspects of music (acquired during his studies as well as several tours with world class bands) is very broad which makes his lessons fun and dynamic, a major plus for motivation and learning process.
With his "hands on" guitar lessons we quickly built a fun song's set which was custom made for my skills level at the time. Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" was among one of the first songs I learned, and by then I had basic chord's as well as a couple major scale positions knowledge.
I ve been seeing Josh (lately via Skype, which saves me 1 hour a day in commute) for the past 3.5yrs and nowadays I am actually playing with a band which goes live every now and then, despite my challenging 10+ daily work hours.
Josh was instrumental to keep me motivated all the time, I strongly recommend giving him a try.

Josh Lattanzi is an excellent guitar teacher. He is a knowledgable, skilled and accomplished musician who has really helped me make sense of what has always been a confusing instrument for me.

Josh's style is patient, supportive and also very funny. He's the reason I love playing guitar and didn't get scared off by bar chords.

He also can play absolutely anything, and tailors my lessons to help me play the kind of stuff I write the best possible way. I am really grateful to be taught by him and will continue to take lessons as long as he's teaching.

Where do I start?

Josh Lattanzi's guitar lessons are simply the best. I started taking lessons with Josh after I graduated college. I was moving to New York to pursue songwriting and found Josh's website online, deciding to try out a lesson based on his experience as a musician and a teacher.

Now, over five years later I can confidently say that if I hadn't chosen Josh my career as a songwriter would be completely different. He goes above and beyond for his students.

I am simply incredibly lucky to have taken that initial step of a first lesson with Josh of NYC Guitar Lessons.

Josh is a patient, focused but fun teacher. His breadth and depth of knowledge of music, guitar and other instruments is extensive, and lends to thorough and thoughtful teaching.

The thing that I love most about taking lessons with Josh is that he is incredibly flexible, willing and able to tailor each student's lessons based on what their ultimate guitar goals are. It made it easy to refer friends to him that wanted to lean basics of guitar and suggest lessons to friends in the songwriting community who had more specific goals in mind.

I really can't speak highly enough about my experiences as an NYC guitar lessons student with Josh.

I've been playing music professionally for 10 years. Traveled all over the US and a little in Europe. I play 3 to 7 nights a week and dabble in all different genres. I've been teaching for 7 years and I love helping my students find what they are passionate about! Music theory, technique, tone, songwriting...

About Patrick
Music is my life! I primarily play bass guitar for a living, but I also play drums in a rock band. Playing bass has taken me all over the US and to Europe twice. I live for the studio and, to me, the best memories are listening back to great music I got to record on. I love great sounding gear and good vintage instruments are fantastic! My main bass is a 1978 Fender P Bass that I've owned for 7 or 8 years. I also play the upright bass and I've had the pleasure of recording it several times. I really started playing music when I was 17 and within a year I knew that was what I wanted to do with my life. No matter what people told me, I never let myself get demotivated and I've stayed the course. I absolutely love teaching others how to do what I do!

Currently playing bass in a whole bunch of bands you haven't heard of yet. You
may have heard of Jim Suhler & Monkey Beat. I'm in Jim's band (when he's not busy playing second guitar with George Thorogood & The Destroyers!). I played with a blues rock guitarist named Lance Lopez for 2 years. I've gotten to hang out and record with Dug Pinnick of King's X. Done studio work all over Texas and in California. Performed with Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts former guitarist Nick Maybury. Backed up former Fleetwood Mac and Bob Seger guitarist Rick Vito. Backed up Eric Gales at the 2016 Dallas International Guitar Festival.
