*** Lesson Details ***
I am very laid back and friendly, and I want you or your child to be as comfortable as possible during our lessons. You or your child will develop confidence and musical intelligence. I will make your lessons fun, enjoyable, and effective. Boredom is not an option! Music is fun... let's keep it that way.

The teaching methods I use will be custom-tailored to your individual needs, personality and specific musical goals. If it's guitar or piano you want to learn, I want to get you playing exactly what you want to be playing as soon as possible. That's what you're here for, and that's what I'm here for. I will make it happen. If it's songwriting that you want to learn, I will help you access that place inside of you that is dying to express itself creatively, and will teach you techniques to harness that energy and translate it successfully into musical expression.

You can expect to learn all the basics of music theory, proper playing techniques, improvisation and spontaneous musical expression, and I will help you develop your "ear" so you can figure out songs you like just by listening to them. This is all about you and your goals, and I want you to achieve them in a fun and engaging way.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room: Upright piano, guitars, amps, keyboard, percussion

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in pop, rock, classical, jazz, blues, folk, fingerstyle (guitar), etc. I also teach improvisation and songwriting, and try to develop the student's ear for figuring out songs they like on their own.

I am a native Chinese speaker and speak Mandarin. I was born in China and lived there for 18 years. I am also fluent in English since I have lived in the U.S. for 7 years now. In our lessons, you will not only learn the proper pronunciations, vocabulary, and grammars, but also the way the actual Chinese people would talk. And everything covered in the lesson will be well explained in both Chinese and English!
I believed the fastest way to progress in a second language is to live in an environment that only speaks that language. If you are already familiar with Chinese but still would like to improve, we could have a practice session, in which we will be only using Chinese, so that it mimics a real conversation/situation that you may encounter in China.

About Haiyang
Haiyang Wang started learning musical instruments at age four. He began playing the flute at age eight and have won competitions from local to international levels including the 1st prize of the Second Asian Youth Music Competition in 2004. He studied at Shenyang Conservatory of Music as a flute performance major since his middle and high school years and had his first solo recital at age sixteen. Haiyang relocated to the US at age eighteen and continued his study in music. He is currently studying at University of North Texas, and his teachers include Prof. Terri Sundberg, Dr. James Scott, and Dr. Lee Lattimore.

My daughter has been taking voice lessons from Junbo for 1 year now. He is very good at encouraging my daughter to develop her breathing and we've seen a huge improvement in her singing ability because of that! He is also very concerned about music selection and whether or not my daughter likes the music she is singing, but also steering her towards the kinds of songs that work best for her voice.

Native chinese speaker who enjoys teaching chinese to students of all levels. I try to make language learning fun by using various conversational techniques and engaging students in their areas of interest. For example, if a student enjoys chinese food, I would practice conversational chinese in a mock restaurant setting.

About Yilin
Highly experienced and engaging teacher that enjoys seeing students learn and grow. I try to bring out the best in my students by focusing on their areas of strength and encourage them to develop and use their strength in the process of acquiring new knowledge. If a student is a visual learner and is struggling with fractions, then I will use real life example of cutting a pie to help the student understand the concept. Each student has their own unique learning style. I try to adapt my lesson plans based on the student's style. Some like to learn through practice, so I incorporate mini practice sessions in my lesson planning. Watching each student learn, grow and improve is a truly rewarding experience for me.
