I know the basics of knitting, and can teach how to work with simple patterns for hats, scarves, blankets. . .and could also teach beginner or intermediate macrame'. I'm listing it here within the closest available category. I've made macrame' friendship bracelets, necklaces, bracelets, belts, purses and wall hangings.

About Karen
I have a BA in Psychology, and an MA in Parapsychology. I studied Architecture for 3 years, and Music Education for two years. I was a National Merit Semifinalist in High School for good SAT scores, and in the Honors Society in High School and College. I play piano, percussion, flute, cello, guitar, bass, cornet and glockenspiel, and teach music lessons. I enjoy playing duets with my students, sharing the fun of making music with them. I do macrame', draw and paint, and am certified as a Reiki Master. I always loved school, and enjoy helping other people to learn. My Dad is my role model, since he was a calm, patient tutor for me - I try to live up to his example in my own teaching work.
I like to work with my students in a learning partnership, letting them work at their own pace with my encouragement and support.
I love to teach, and
can help you love to learn!

My daughter 7yrs took lessons from Karen for 8 months. She was so patient and kind. My girl loved her and her teaching style.
I would have given 5 stars if she had got a real piano, not an electronic one.

Learn with confidence from a caring teacher who will inspire you with a lifelong love of knitting.

Are you just a beginner? Do you need a little help understanding a new pattern or technique? Want to improve your finishing techniques to make your sweater the envy of all your friends?

Have you seen a project on Ravelry or Pinterest that you just love but are afraid it is beyond your skill level? Don't worry, you can call on me anytime to get you through a tough spot. I will even help you find, fix and prevent mistakes.

I have been knitting since I was a teenager back in the mid-'80s. I am a published designer, CYC Certified Instructor with over 9 years teaching experience inspiring beginners and experienced knitters.

Students are expected to provide all tools and materials but I will help you find what you need for your project. Recommend duration for in-person lessons is 90 minutes.

About Kim
For creative people and makers, crafting is like going to the gym. You will find great fulfillment and a sense of accomplishment if you set aside time on a regular basis to nurture this very important part of what makes you who you are. Think of me like a personal trainer. I will encourage and inspire you while you develop your skills and express yourself through a variety of textile based media.

Private and group lessons or classes are provided in locations around the NYC area, in my space or via webcam. My focus is on providing an entertaining, relaxing and enjoyable experience as you learn a leisure time activity. I am extremely patient and detail oriented. When you let me know what you would like to learn or make, I will guide you through everything from selecting materials to fine tuning your technique. Take a lesson with me to fi
nd out why my students love me.

Teaching is a wonderful extension of my work as a professional crochet and knit designer and technical editor. A web search will reveal some of my published work over the last decade. As a craft teacher in the NYC area for over 8 years, I have worked with individuals, groups and classes of all ages and skill levels. Most of my experience focuses on working with older adults and people with special needs. Minors must have a supervising adult present. I do not work with groups of young children.

I have studied the history and mastered the skills to make and teach a vast variety of textile techniques. Please see my experience.

If you are using this site without the assistance of a TL Rep, I recommend the schedule as you go option. I often have openings in my calendar sooner than the site allows. After we make contact, we can choose the best date and time.

*** Lesson Details ***
Please let me know what you would like to learn or make before your lesson so that we may be fully prepared with any materials, tools, equipment, books or handouts. Students are expected to provide all their own tools and materials unless other arrangements are made.

Recommended duration for in-person lessons is 90 minutes. A surcharge may be added for travel outside of areas accessible by one MTA fare or expected travel time exceeding 90 minutes.

*** Specialties ***
Textile based crafts including crochet, knitting, embroidery, sewing, patchwork, plastic canvas, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, bobbin lace, historic textile and costume conservation and storage, and more.

I also love to research and develop craft projects for classes or master techniques students would like to learn.

About Dovile
I began teaching while studying in Art Institute. My first students were 5 to 7 yr. old kids. It was very challenging, but also very rewarding. I was teaching them skills, they were teaching me patience. Later the age of my students grew, until I ended up teaching the same students I was in the same classes just 6 months ago. Again another challenge. I love challenges and even more I love helping others to overcome them.
My philosophy about teaching is that everybody can learn, it is only the way how we learn is different for different people. Another very important thing - I strive to be creative, respectful and approachable.

Why can’t I leave MORE than five stars?

I’ve wanted to learn lace knitting for so long but it overwhelmed me every time I tried. Simply stated: I’m no longer overwhelmed or fearful of lace knitting!

Patty is patient, detailed and takes the time to make sure the steps make sense instead of just a monkey see monkey do what I do approach. This gives me an actual understanding of what I’m doing and WHY and removed so much of what confused me before.

Patty has a depth of technical knowledge that is fierce. Combine that with her ability to break it down and truly TEACH me what to do and that’s a recipe for pure awesomeness.

I’ve already booked 2 more lessons because um hello.... I need to learn ALL THE THINGS

Knitting can be tough if you're trying to learn on your own! I can help walk you through it, and you'll be surprised how much you're really capable of. We'll start with the basics if you're a beginner, but if you're already learning or have some experience already, I can help you learn exciting new skills so you can take on more intricate, challenging projects.
I've been knitting for over 10 years and I have experience doing projects with shaping, colorwork, and texture. If you want to pick a project as your end goal, we can do that as well! Looking forward to meeting you!

About Laura
I started knitting over ten years ago, and I've been crocheting for over fifteen years now! I love learning new techniques and pushing the limits of what I can do! I've made tons of scarves, hats, and mitts, but I've also made blankets, ornaments, and others.

I teach students who have never knitted/crocheted before, or students who have experience and just want help with a specific pattern, or students who want to push the limits and try something new!

I love knitting patterns with interesting textures, and my favorite style is mosaic colorwork!

Reach out and we can figure out a plan that works well for you!

Amber is always willing to help with any project and offers great advice, whether you’re just starting out in drawing or you’ve been working at your art for a while. She helps critique with an open mind and doesn’t talk down to you as she offers advice and direction with each piece, or even smaller section. Thank you for taking the time to sit down with me and work on my artwork, even if it was to just offer a few points on technique and style.
