I have been helping others learn math for seven years and I enjoy watching it click for others just as much as I enjoyed it when math first began to make sense to me. From experience, I know that mathematics can be very easy, or seemingly impossible to learn depending on how the information and concepts are presented. I first gauge how my students like to learn and determine any weak areas that need strengthening, and then I guide them towards a firm understanding of the concepts.

A little about myself. I was enrolled in a top mathematical high school and won multiple mathematical olympiads starting at a young age. I graduated from university with honors and the highest departmental distinction. While at the university I served as a teaching assistant and tutored other students. Mathematics and teaching are still my big passions. I’ve taught math classes at a private school as well as tutored students of all ages and all levels. Prealgebra is usually learned as part of 7th grade math, 8th grade math, or 9th grade math. An introduction to the fundamental concepts of algebra, it sets the stage for higher level math with signed numbers, order of operations, graphing, and solving equations. After studying these concepts for years, I have tutored countless middle school, high school, and college students in prealgebra, and I’ve also helped adults relearn it for test prep and for work. I use “tried and true” methods as well as helpful shortcuts to ensure students truly understand the math they are learning and its practical application in real life situations.
About Natalie
For more than 11 years, my goal as a tutor has been steadfast: I help students learn more and make progress in their studies. I don't just teach them how to count, read, and write: I show them how to build on their skills and reach their true potential. I know from my own experience how hard it is t

I am an MIT tutor specializing in math and science, and I have taught math anywhere between pre-algebra and calculus for 5 years. I have received perfect scores on both SAT Math, ACT Math, and SAT Math Level 2 (SAT Subject Test). I have taken AP Calculus BC while in high school, and I have taken Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations at MIT, and I actively participated in many math competitions through elementary, middle, and high schools.
Before the lessons, I like to talk with parents, students, and/or teachers to fully gauge what they have been struggling with and how to best help them. Then I identify the student's gap in knowledge while helping them complete their homework and give them additional drilling problems as needed to help them fully master the materials and do well on their tests. I always carry around books containing extra problems depending on the students' levels and goals.
I have taught students anywhere from 4th grade to adults, including college

I have tutored students in a variety of math courses, going from basic Algebra up to Calculus 2. With a good foundation, any topic is manageable. Homework is key and my students have to complete it before our lesson. Before any of my lessons, I ask the student to send me an outline of the topics they would like to go over and I prepare accordingly.
