I'm a specialist in Brazilian Guitar and have played and used American Folk Styles to teach finger picking for many years. This includes Travis Picking, Blues and arrangement of all sorts of melodies for guitar. One of the first world musics I played was Irish music and I have a nice repertoire of these melodies to help the student learn how to play a linear melody. Reading is not necessary but I'm expert at getting people to read by using simple familiar music. I have been playing Jazz acoustically fingerstyle for a while and have been a good understanding of Swing guitar styles too. Repertoire and recordings are essential in the process. This I also provide to the student

I was a beginner wanting to learn some Brazilian guitar: samba, bossa nova, etc. Billy was great for that as a very accomplished guitarist of that genre. He is very engaging and enthusiastic. He was patient with me in working on the difficult chords and strumming that this type of music requires. Having literally, "written the book", he had an organized approach. I also enjoyed his humor and occasional stories about guitarist he has know. Acho que ele tem Jeito para ensinar violao.

Music has been my passion since I was 10 years old. I didn't have any real instruments at first, so, I built my own out of coffee cans, ice cream containers and of course: a rubber band shoebox guitar! It might sound funny, but, I believe these early days of trying to create music using my "homemade symphony," forced me to really get to the core of sound and expression without the pre-set curriculum of traditional music study. Early on, I learned a few fundamental concepts of music theory that would forever change how I learned, as well as how I taught music to others. I believe these concepts set a foundation that allowed me to understand music and grow much faster - including learning multiple instruments.

And yes, I eventually acquired a real guitar and went on to study music and computers at the University of California and I currently compose music for TV and film in my own studio. I have taught guitar, bass, piano, drums, theory, composition and recording production to ...

About Peter

I currently compose music for TV, film and other digital media in my own recording studio. Prior to that, I spent about 25 years playing guitar, piano, bass and drums in bands and as a studio musician. I just started my second year of guitar lessons with Peter and I’m learning so much! Peter is a great teacher who is patient, encouraging and a great listener. He can “hear” the areas that I need to work on, and is able to clearly communicate ways for me to improve . He has helped me get better at my rhythm, my strumming, tempo and even an introduction to music theory. I’m now playing (and singing) some of my favorite songs! Highly recommend!

Francesca is wonderful. My son has developed a love of learning piano and reading music. He looks forward to every lesson. I have never had to remind him to practice- he seeks opportunities to share what he is learning and is eager to share his progress with Francesca every week. She is supportive and motivating. I know she loves to develop a love music in her students by her obvious dedication to developing their love and understanding of music.

My 7 year old son won't stop singing so I figured I'd put him in some lessons. She's a good mix of patient and fun while still keeping him on track. I thought it would just be a lot of scales, but she teaches him all aspects about singing/performance and uses his favorite genres to teach them. Excellent instructor!
Andrea D.
I've been working with Francesca for a few months now, and I feel I've grown so much. Prior to this I've sparsely attempted to play instruments, but she has taken her knowledge and passion and been able to pass that on to me while constantly reminding me that one day I will be good. And I believe it! I've come a long way to establish a regular practice routine, still working on it with her, and I have high expectations for the future. I recommend her to my own people and I recommend her to you.

"My son is almost 6 and has been taking guitar lessons with Jordan for a few months now and I am shocked at how much progress my son has made in that short amount of time...especially considering that my son has ADHD and Tourette's Syndrome, which means that my son does not practice that much because of his limited ability to focus, amongst other things. However, despite all this, Jordan is just so patient and kind and creates a safe and calm environment for son to learn and feel good about his achievements, no matter how small they may be....and I can see that my son is building confidence and feeling good about himself. You can't ask for more that that! In addition, Jordan is very accommodating to schedules...he is always willing to move things around to fit a lesson into our schedule, which is always crazy since we have 3 small kids. A++++"

"I've only had my first lesson, and I'm a complete novice with the guitar (I'm an adult with some limited musical background). Noah asked me about my goals and musical interests so he could tailor the class to meet my needs. He taught me how to tune the guitar before getting into chords, finger placement, strumming technique, and reading the tabs. Throughout the class, he was incredibly patient, encouraging, and explained everything very clearly without over-complicating the topics. He gave me written "homework" to practice (which I now understand how to read!!). I'm really psyched for my next lesson and pleased that I chose Noah for my instructor."
