Classical, traditional method and Suzuki method. Studied with Dr. John Kendall, founder of the Suzuki method for the United States. Have played with Southern Illinois University orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony exhibition concert. Have performed in Europe, North America and Asia.

Teaching is one of my greatest joys! All ages are welcome to study with me. My calling is to work with all students' interests and goals, such as preparing for auditions or playing your favorite video game soundtrack. I'm happy to work on pieces or songs the student is passionate about! :)

Lessons will prioritize an understanding of the relationship between anatomy and sound. My students are taught how to hear an issue in their playing, diagnose the problem, and know exactly how to fix it physically. Creating a beautiful tone, a natural comfort with the instrument, eliminating pain or tension are all things we will work on.

“Talent” is a widely misunderstood concept. As a teacher, I don't believe talent is born. Talent is an artful skill. This skill is made through practice: concentrated sessions of mindful repetition, silent awareness, and craft. I believe anyone can learn an instrument with the right mindset and the right instruction.

Hi! I'm Michael Shingo C. and I am a violinist, pianist, and composer.

In my teaching, I emphasize efficient, goal-oriented practice, and provide a strong technical foundation while always keeping musicality and expression in mind. I encourage my students to develop problem-solving skills that will ultimately allow them to create their own interpretations about a piece of music. I believe that each student has a different learning style and, with this knowledge, I design a program of study specifically for them.

Learning music is all about tackling technical or musical problems in many different ways until we find an approach that works for you. As multi-instrumentalist who also writes music, I can offer many different perspectives on a single issue and draw from a wide range of knowledge that serves me in my daily creative pursuits. ~

Experienced teacher specializing in the beginner/intermediate piano student! All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be playing songs in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of note reading, music theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and more.
I studied violin from the age of 9 (long time ago). I studied mainly privately but constantly in competitions with scholarships to brevard music center in N.C. and governors school for the arts held at Furman university.
Obtained a music scholarship and minor in fine arts with a major in education.
I have taught many subjects including private violin lessons.
Classical, hymns, Gospel, pop and romance are genres I am familiar.
I have over 25 years as in education.

Violin lessons with me are unique because I always endeavor to find ways to make learning music fun, while simultaneously holding realistic yet high expectations for each student. Each student is unique, and I try to tailor violin lessons to each student's different learning style. I am always trying to find creative ways to be an encouraging instructor, while also providing motivation to continually be building and improving musical skills!
