About Edwin
Hello! Thank you for your interest in taking guitar/piano/music lessons.

I am a professional teacher/studio musician/performer/producer with over 17 years of private teaching experience and a graduate of the University of Miami Studio Music and Jazz program in 2002 specializing in the guitar.

I am available to teach guitar(acoustic, electric, classical) for all levels, ages, and styles(pop to folk, rock to soul, world to classical) in English, Spanish and Japanese.

Other subjects taught include bass guitar, piano/keyboard, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, harmonium, classical percussion, music theory, composition(all styles from pop to classical), ear training, and studio production/engineering/mixing.

Born in Cali, Colombia on April 1979, I began my musical endeavors studying the piano at the age of 6. Early on I had the opportunit
y to play percussion in the school symphony while at the same time developed an intense interest in the instrument that would become my true love, the guitar.

During 1996-98 I studied jazz guitar at the New World School of the Arts music program under the direction of J.B. Dyas and Dr. Roby George. Upon graduation, I was immediately accepted to the University of Miami jazz guitar program under the direction of Randall Dollahan. It was during this time that I also refined my skills as a classical guitarist and as a composer/arranger. In addition, I began passing my knowledge onto friends and eventually began working as a teacher.

My ability to play almost any genre of music is the fruit of past experience playing with an impressive variety of music groups, including jazz combos, symphony orchestras, Andean world music ensembles, and several rock and pop groups as well. As a studio guitarist I have recorded for various artists including Jaci Velasquez, Carlos Ponce, Alexandre Pires, and Noelia.

Every one of you is unique and there are many possible paths to reach your goals in music.

With my background and music industry experience, I am able to customize my lessons for you so that you can reach your desired goals. We will take some time to find out where your passion lies in music and I will use my experience and knowledge to create a customized lesson-plan that will allow us to focus on reaching your desired goals and at the same time maintain a well rounded music education.

I find this to be key in making the lessons and your practice sessions very enjoyable, fun and laid back - knowing that everything we practice, play and talk about is in line with your goals as a student.

I will also be playing along with you and demonstrating everything that we're working on - music is meant to be shared and played with others and it is important to have that experience of interaction from early on in your lessons.

So whether it's learning to accompany yourself or others, write songs, read music, understand harmony, solo, or just jam out to your favorite songs, you will be well on your way to reaching your goals within 6 months of my lessons.

Look forward to making music with you!

I do believe that classical piano instruction is the best way for anyone to learn how to play an instrument. Individual instruction encourages the growth of excellent music skills, and provides a foundation for music literacy. I will develop individualized programs for piano study, offering instruction that best suits the student. Private lessons can offer flexibility to learn the type of music students are personally the most interested in.

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

Kelvin is a great teacher. He understands and teaches in a way that makes sense to me. If you’ve played the Banjo you know the teacher needs a lot of patience and he does. He provides the right direction and more importantly listens to my questions. There is no doubt in my mind if you have to learn or improve your banjo skills Kelvin can help.

I studied music and piano at the University of Central Florida. My main focus there was classical and jazz guitar, but I also had to demonstrate my proficiency in piano. I've been playing and teaching piano for six years since then. I've worked with young children, teenagers, and even adults, so I'm happy to work with new students, novice to intermediate, of any age.

Lessons are built on a foundation of reading music notation and basic harmonic theory. We learn everything from from Bach to Beethoven and beyond! I'm happy to recommend books for beginners, depending on the age and skill level of the student.

About Gio
I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.

I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!

*** Studi

I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.

I play and manage a band called Skyfoot and have for about 3 years now. I have played in 35 different states, playing with all kinds of musicians across the United States. Been meeting with Tyler for 4 lessons now and cannot give anything but the highest praise for him. Before we began we set the outline for what
I wanted to do and how he could help - the planning was good but the execution far exceeded anything I could hope for. His insight, technical ability, and highly positive attitude makes him the perfect partner to "re-introduce" me to the guitar (35+ year break in playing). Cons: initially opted for 1/2 hour lesson - too short. Pros: understands my goals, appreciates the musical genre that is important to me, great balance between teaching during the lesson and giving me things to work on on my own, very positive and encouraging attitude....and many more "pros". My suggestion is - if you are thinking of going with him give him a call - very easy to talk to and you will likely find out what I have found - Tyler is top notch!!

I have seen which are the problems that most of the students struggle with and I also have seen a lot of teachers that don't help them in a good way.

So that's why I created lessons with an individual approach for each student, applying knowledge that I received from wonderful teachers I have had.

I come from a strict Russian method, but I found a way to balance this methods with the student itself, because everyone is unique.

About Alejandro
Hello! I'm from Venezuela, a country that has a lot of rhythms and music colors.

I started at the age of 6 and then formally at the age of 12 (a little bit late). I studied at the Simon Bolivar Conservatory in Caracas and then I moved to the US.

Here the mix of different cultures and music has created a deep impact on me, so I tend to create interesting programs for my students. Music that goes from J.S. Bach to Samuel Barber, or from Igor Stravinsky to Juan Vicente Lecuna.

I also have attend masterclasses of wonderful teachers such as Simone Dinnerstein, Yoheved Kaplinsky, András Schiff, Jerome Lowenthal and Hung Kuan Chen. Experiences that have been very enriching.

In Venezuela, I also studied venezuelan piano music with the pianist and composer Luisa Elena Paesano, and with pianist Guiomar Narváez. They impulsed me in a way that I
started to work with the contemporary composers that are still alive and that still create academic music inspired in Venezuelan rhythms and flavors.

It will be very exciting to share all these experiences with my future students!

I like to create individualized lessons for each student according to their tastes in music. Students can pick their own songs to learn and I can arrange the songs for any level. I adapt my teaching skills to each student's learning style and I realize that every student is different in how they learn. With over 30 years of teaching experience, I have found ways to help the student learn piano as quickly as possible.

About Lynn
I have dedicated my life to teaching music to piano students of all ages and levels. Over the past 30 years of teaching, I have found many shortcuts in make the learning process go as fast as possible. Each student who comes to me enjoys learning songs they pick out to play. I can arrange songs in all levels for any student to learn. Each student will also learn the best techniques for a great sound on the piano right from the beginning to not sound like a beginner. My goal is to have the student hear the beauty of the piano in what they are playing. I love teaching music theory which also facilitates the learning process when learning to play music. Many of my students go on to play in keyboard bands and perform at various venues.
