I've been teaching guitar for 5 years helping students develop a love for the instrument and learn more about music along the way. There are many styles I'm comfortable teaching from folk (fingerpicking or flatpicking), rock, blues and funk and I would love working on developing a unique style of your own. Within the first few lessons you'll have a solid base of strumming, picking and chord changes and even a few simple songs under your belt. Moving on from there I will craft lessons to move you toward a "goal song," making sure to cater your progress to your needs while keeping a focus on good technique. I enjoy working with students of all ages and experiences and I can't wait to meet you!

We focus on playing and writing music immediately, the theory is second, music playing and having fun is first!
I'm 31 years old and I have been playing music in bands of all kinds since I was 15. I practiced 3 years before I actually played with anyone and once I did I learned so much more. I don't want you to make the same mistake, try out my 30 minute discount rate and we can make sure you are having fun and playing music in no time, if you want to expand into harder lessons then we can!
My prices are so I can give each student my undivided attention, even the 30 minute may go on longer if the student is hungry. At these prices I can support as many students that really want to learn as possible no matter what level lessons they buy. I recommend the hour as it will allow for most growth.
About Joshua
Guitar is the most amazing instrument to me. I got really lucky because someone gave me an electric when i was 12 and I just played it. I didn't even know they had to be tuned at first! Once I started playing with people I learned so much so fast. I also went to school for recording and am able

Learn any song you want from any time. I have a good ear and can pick any song off a CD or YouTube. I can then write it out for you and teach it to you in any key. Don't be afraid, I like to use Tablature so you don't need to be able to read music.
Do you want to play Lead Guitar? I can teach you all the scales, arpeggios & Pentatonics that you need to know to become a rock 'n' roll guitar god!

I taught beginning guitar through a local shop while in college. I have a strong background in reading music notation, and prefer to teach classically. We begin chord development at the intermediate level when students can read the chord in music notation. Finger style and jazz are personal favorites of style.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.
Ahmad's flexibility with make up lessons is also appreciated. There have been times where my work schedule has been hectic, so I had to miss a lesson, and he was able to squeeze my lesson in later in the week. There have also been a few times where I have had follow up questions about a lesson, sent him an e-mail, and gotten a response within a few hours.
I recently wanted to get an electric guitar, but had no idea what to look for, so I asked Ahmad for some recommendations. Instead of just giving me recommendations, he offered to go to a guitar store with me to try some out. We went and he helped me pick out a great beginner electric guitar!
Ahmad is clearly passionate about music and willing to go above and beyond for his students. I highly recommend Ahmad to anyone who is thinking about taking guitar lessons."
I've been playing guitar and keyboards for many years, so I've been somewhat cautious about approaching a professional instructor to help me "get serious" about the guitar. Like other players, I've run into overly pedantic instructors who take every player back to the beginning and teach the "right" way to play the instrument, but also the loose instructors who have no structure and can't deeply answer theory or technique questions.
Ahmad has managed to build a rigorous teaching methodology while still being fun and really engaged in what the student wants to learn. He's has compiled drawers and drawers full of prepared exercises and explanations, but he's looking to help me find the most helpful topics to work on rather than disregard what I already know."

When you're beginning to learn guitar, you also have to learn how to practice. Follow this expert advice from guitar teacher Mike B. to find the proper amount of practice time you need to achieve your guitar goals... As a guitar instructor, one of the most common questions I get asked is "how often should I practice?" Students are told various amounts of time that are deemed "proper" to practice each day. Some say a half hour, some say an hour, some say more, some say less. With all of thes …
