I am an experienced teacher of 16 years! I thrive on finding each student's specific learning style and cultivating a positive and productive learning experience within that. I apply consistent and focused energy in getting my students to strive for their best, and I aim to inspire them to respond in turn with the same focused and accurate effort.

I teach using a modified Suzuki method. This means that, while I do subscribe to Suzuki's "mother tongue" approach, I also believe that education on an instrument requires literacy from a young age. I have discovered in my years of teaching that an early ability to read notes and understand musical theory and form is not a handicap to a student's development, but rather a benefit to the student gaining a richer, fuller understanding of their instrument and music in general.

I have been teaching private piano, violin, guitar, and ukulele lessons for ten years. I won competitions, hundreds of dollars, and a scholarship through the Desert Valley Music Teacher Association (DVMTA). I have written and self-published two piano books with more in the works. I have worked on a Music Theory degree at MCC and plan to transfer to ASU to finish my bachelor's. I help students find the fun in music again with many involved music games and incentive programs. I instill a love and confidence in students of composing their own music from a young age.

Acquiring good habits and building confidence are invaluable when it comes to studying an instrument and when playing with others. Each student brings their own unique personality to the lesson process and therefore requires a different approach to learning. I encourage students to rely on their individual strengths regardless of any specific method or philosophy of teaching. It is extremely rewarding to see the joy as students not only reach milestones, but ultimately become their own best teachers!

It is important to have teacher, student, and parents work together to see the accomplishments happen in the future. I make the lessons meaningful, so that my student can retain the information and practice effectively at home. My ultimate goal is to have my student think critically and listen carefully, so that they can become their own teacher.

I have been playing violin since the age of 6. One day I had to make the difficult decision choosing between violin and piano, because both instruments are very dear to me. I chose violin as my primary instrument for its lyrical qualities and closeness to human voice. At the age of 13 I won the Saint Petersburg Violin Competition and performed with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic.
I am excited to share my love for this instrument with my students no matter what age they are. I see each person as an individual who has their own artistic voice and I will help you to further develop it.

If I were to say 15 years on the violin, that would be a shocking time. I did earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Music where I received most of my education in both violin and piano. In my perspective, the violin is such an intricate instrument and I am blessed to work with students in wanting to learn violin. It’s true where putting the hard work in violin takes you where you need to be. It does require Practice! I am willing to work with the student and help them grow in advancing this instrument.
