The mathematics of Music! I have a ton of experience studying music theory, I started when I was 12 when I wanted to learn how to improvise with my jazz saxophone. I was very lucky with the opportunities I had to learn music theory. I learned from two college educated jazz musicians before pursuing my own music education. While studying jazz studies and music business I studied both classical music theory and jazz theory quite extensively. Whether you want to become a composer, an improve soloist, or just improve your songwriting abilities, I can provide the knowledge and technical skill.

Music Theory is important to understand how music is made and written. In this lesson we will start from the beginning and learn how music is written.

I took my first Music Theory course in high school and immediately fell in love with it. I never listened to music the same way again. Just as people who know the rules of a sport seem to have a deep connection when watching it, I feel people with an understanding of the rules of music enjoy it to a higher degree.
It all starts with an introduction to piano and learning how to read pitch and rhythm. Then a trip back in time to study early music and how it evolved into what we hear today.

Start at the beginning if you've never read a note, or work all the way up to analyzing the forms of your favorite composer's master works. The sky is the limit!
