I am an experienced teacher of 16 years! I thrive on finding each student's specific learning style and cultivating a positive and productive learning experience within that. I apply consistent and focused energy in getting my students to strive for their best, and I aim to inspire them to respond in turn with the same focused and accurate effort.
I believe that every person can be taught, that parental involvement is crucial in the development of musicians from a young age through the high school years, and that music education must not only train and strengthen the fingers of a student to be agile on an instrument, but must ultimately train the ear, the mind, the body, and strengthen the person. My mission is to educate and enable well-rounded, excellent musicians that will be able to use their gifts and talents in a productive and fulfilling manner. I am committed to offering full musical instruction of the highest quality to students of any age in order to enrich the local ...

Private study of music theory with me is highly individualized. For beginners, we will start with the basics of tonality, intervallic relationships, rhythm, and ear training. We will then progress into a study of harmony, musical modes, mixed meter, etc. Lessons can be done in conjunction with piano instruction if possible. I always like to use audio recordings and sheet music of recognizable compositions, both contemporary and classical, to augment a student's understanding of concepts.
