I began teaching private music lessons in 2011 while I was studying Jazz Studies and Music Business in college where I was also trained on flute. I have worked with a wide age range of students, I have trained adults and students as young as five. I have high standards and a good attention to detail. I will teach you a strong foundation of fundamental practices that will develop proper posture and technique for both classical music and jazz. I will also teach you a strong foundation of music theory so you will be prepared to learn and/or write music of your choosing.
About Andrew
I have almost 20 years experience with saxophone. I started young and traveled as a student performing in competitions all over the country. I have done every type of music competition and studied in college where I received scholarships.

I've been playing saxophone for 15 years, and I've picked up some cool tricks along the way! Saxophone lessons are custom tailored to the student's individual skill level.
Beginners learn basic technique and a foundation of good habits to build on!
Intermediate players challenge themselves with more difficult pieces, requiring use of more refined techniques.
Advanced players prepare and perform advanced pieces, and work on the most advanced techniques.

My son Nicholas, 10 yrs old, has been taking saxophone lessons with Imraan for about a month. Searching for a young motivated teacher who is up to date with todays music is very difficult. My fear was for Nicholas to get discouraged in his saxophone playing and music with a non motivated instructor.
Imraan has been the perfect match for Nick. He is not only an excellent saxophone player but a great instructor. He motivates my son with his saxophone playing, has patients with his teachings and with kids, is up to date with todays music and most important, my son cant wait for his next lesson.
Imraan, Im glad we met you and look forward to hearing my son play in concert with you someday.

Sound is the key. Developing and nurturing a solid sound opens up all other aspects of music. Once we have a solid sound we can depend on everything we play is more effective.
I teach basic musicianship along with advanced sound production techniques.
Spontaneous creation and composition. I can help you freely improvise in any situation and become a functionary player as well as a soloist.
About Dave
I have been playing the saxophone fro 45 years. I think its all about the sound, the tone. I played with the Microscopic Septet and William Parker's Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra.

Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap! Read on for some helpful advice from Brookings, SD teacher Carl S... The saxophone is a unique instrument for many reasons. One example is that the saxophone is the only band instrument that uses a neck strap.
