Lisa G. received her degree in Musical Theater with a Concentration in Vocal Performance from Missouri Baptist University. She has performed in many shows all around the St. Louis are since 2004 and been performing most of her life in shows, show choirs, large touring choirs, jazz ensembles, theater & improv troops and more. *** Lesson Details ***
I am a very laid back person however I'll make sure you get things done! It doesn't matter what you'd like to do with your music I can help you get there and reach your goals! I use two different curricula for piano: Alfred Piano Book Series and Faber Piano Book Series. Also to help motivate I let kids bring in a song or two they would like to play maybe from a movie or a pop song (it also depends on their level). For voice I usually let you bring in books you already have or if you don't have any I'll choose some based on what you'd like to learn in voice whether it be classical, broadway, jazz etc.

Ali

Lisa is very outgoing and entertaining. She is encouraging Ali to be braver/less timid when singing and acting...this is exactly what Ali needs. I appreciate Lisa's positive attitude. I would like to split each session into 30 minutes acting and 30 minutes singing. I think both disciplines could reinforce the other. If that seems to short maybe we can move to 1.5 hours.

Stephanie Hoeckley is an award-winning flutist and teacher in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Recognized as a skilled performer, Ms. Hoeckley placed 1st in the Arizona Flute Society's 2017 Young Artist Competition, 2nd in 2016, and has been a finalist in the Florida Flute Association’s College Young Artist Competition and Advanced Masterclass. Most recently, in March 2017, she performed in Carol Wincenc's recital at Arizona State University; having the time of her life performing a trio with two of her all-time favorite flutists, Carol Wincenc and Elizabeth Buck.

Despite having degrees in Music Performance, Ms. Hoeckley is a passionate and engaging music educator. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Performance at Arizona State University, is the Flute Graduate Teaching Assistant at ASU, directs the ASU Commu

I started taking flute lessons with Stephanie last September 2016. I have been playing flute since 2011 and play regularly at church. I take a hour long lesson. I have really enjoyed taking lessons from her. She has also been willing to adjust to my schedule, when she could, when work won’t allow me to make it to my normal lesson.
I had been taking lessons from another flute teacher since 2011 and knew it was time to change. Stephanie has always been able to help me. She is very knowledgeable about all questions and problems I was having on playing the flute or reading music. When questioning a technique she is able to demonstrate it or explain it in a different way so I could understand it. I’ve always had trouble with the high notes and alternate fingering and she definitely has helped me on those. Stephanie personally is a lot more enjoyable than my last teacher. She always seems happy to see me.
I also play Low Flutes and just bought my first Bass Flute. She also plays low flutes.

Notes, beats, time signatures and key signatures - what are they and how do you use them? Starting with these simple ideas, we work our way through theory of music up to identifying cadences and figured bass inversions. I work with beginners to intermediate theory students.

I love teaching and I love singing! I'm a listener, and love bringing a fun and creative tone to my lessons while teaching the highest level of healthy technique and style. My students are usually focused on a goal: singing for fun or meditative purposes, going for auditions or performances, and recording and touring at a professional level. They've appeared on multiple stages around the world, including as a finalist on The Voice (Ireland). I taught voice and performance for several years at a university in Europe, as well as in workshops with a lot of different community organisations.

I've studied the following voice and movement practices, too: Alexander Technique, Estill Voice Training, Speech Level Singing, Pop Vocals, Experimental Voice, Trigger Point Therapy, Yoga, Pilates, Contemporary Dance.

I’ve been taking singing lessons from Rachel for over a year now. All of my sessions have been online, and I’ve been super happy with my progress and her teaching style.

The classes are structured around my own interests (specific songs, breath control, body technique, etc.), and she’s always ready to answer questions. I don’t have any formal background in musical theory, but I’ve been able to still learn so much from her. I should also mention these classes have been a god-send for my public speaking (I don’t lose my voice anymore and can project easily now).

Rachel is easygoing and has been flexible with me and my schedule changes (you just have to give her some notice). I would definitely recommend her to anyone just starting out like I did—she’s experienced, knowledgeable and professional. :)

I love that she always gives me an option on what I do or don't want to do at the moment, but still pushes me to challenge myself. I get to sing the songs I like, and learn the things I need. It helps me stay an interested student. It's fun to train with her too, because Miss Austin knows how to lighten the mood but still keep me on track during lessons. I'd say that my voice's improvements in such a short time would have never happened without her.

I signed my 12yo up for voice lessons online with Rachel because a) I couldn't tolerate my child's 'singing' and b) our schedule is pretty crowded and we needed something flexible. My child has high functioning ASD and I honestly wasn't sure how well it would work as, up to this point, in-school/in-person music classes had failed to give her a sense of rhythm or even the ability to clap/chant/recite with a crowd. I am SO glad we went with Rachel's lessons!

I no longer cringe when my child offers to sing for me - in fact, it's enjoyable to listen to her now! My child now claps and sings in beat and with a crowd - something they weren't working towards but has clearly come from this work. It's worked really well for our crazy schedule too - Rachel is awesome about working with us and often sees our needs in advance (for instance just last week she asked to change the schedule so she could get another lesson in before my child auditioned for a musical theater slot - an audition she aced thanks to Rachel's work). We have gotten what we hoped for and more from Rachel's instruction!

Piano studies overview:

You can play what you can hear. My students have a well-rounded approach towards musicianship and playing. Lessons should include theory, ear training, etc. to ensure that students understand what they are playing. I progress students carefully.

Beginning students might start with a method such as the well-known 'Piano Adventures' by Faber and Faber. More advanced students will work on progressively more demanding literature.

In a piano lesson, we will cover many different aspects of p
laying. The student and I will analyze a new piece of music in various ways while coming up with an idea of how it sounds. I will play the piece and make practice suggestions. The student will play prepared pieces, and I will make suggestions. I value spontaneity.

I'm a gigging musician and teacher who graduated from Oberlin College in May 2015 with a degree in Musical Studies and Physics. I was on the Division III tennis team there for two years as well. I pride myself on patience and empathy no matter what I teach, whether it feeling the pulse of a complicated drum groove or solving a challenging physics word problem. For music lessons, I strive to bring in a context of genre fluidity and history, so that a student knows where and what to explore on their own even when I am not in the room to show them. Overall, my teaching is all about inspiring students to do well and make their strengths work for them, rather than dryly coming up with the "right answer" or playing a tune the "right way" to get from point A to point B.

Hi, I am Matt. I am a band director in the Fort Smith, AR area. I am in my 7th year teaching band and love every minute of it. June 2012 - June 2015 I was the head band director of Waldron High School in Waldron, AR. We won several awards through our marching and concert band program. I also ran after school lessons in which many students made our region honor band.

June 2015 - Present
I am currently the head director at Trinity Junior High in Fort Smith. I run a 7-9 band program that includes both marching and concert band seasons. Our student involvement is quite high as our band program serves about 50% of our total student population (about 90 kids served daily on all wind instruments). My band here has received many superior ratings, and many students make our region honor group, and go on to excel in high school band programs in our area.

Remembering myself as a kid going to music theory classes was a scariest thing for me, cause i didn't have any preparation before the 1 year in music school. After couple years of hard work on home tasks i realized that i was one of the smartest kids in the group that had all "A" grades.
