I specialize in providing a great foundation for learning the instrument. Too many students, new to the guitar, get frustrated and quit after just a few lessons, because it falls short of their expectations and they find they are not progressing. I make certain to keep the enthusiasm intact through the entire learning process by making sure the student is actually playing the instrument. I like to think of my method as "Fast Track to Playing Guitar"; my goal is to keep the student's interest in the instrument at a sustained level while they are grasping the fundamentals. Because I also teach Voice, and work professionally accompanying myself on the guitar, I can combine these attributes for my students, should they desire to sing and play. I have uncovered many a student who never fashioned themselves as a vocalist, begin singing and playing with astounding results. Just another option made available to my students.... My success rate of having my students continue with the guitar ...
I have been active in the entertainment industry since the age of 12, when I gave my first professional performance. Prior to that I was already being introduced to music with years of guitar, and then vocal instruction. I do not remember a time of my life when I was not singing somewhere; in the ho

I've been singing as long as I've been going to church.
My beginnings in the Children's, Men, Gospel, and Senior-Adult
Choirs. D.C. Youth Chorale was an amazing experience for learning the art of harmony, ear training was a natural part of the study.
We were taught to read music as well as leaning everything by rot. A term used in church meaning learning by memory to the heart. (without the music sheets)
Thirty years of private lessons for Voice, Violin, Viola, Piano, and Music Theory. Music IS the universal communicator, educator, healer, and conflict mediator. We expose our children to music to ignite their awareness and stimulate natural learning concepts. I share my knowledge to connect to
I also explained my level of experience and was assured Raycurt was qualified to teach at the level I needed, but he came off as less knowledgable than me, which was particularly disappointing.
Worst of all, after multiple hours of speaking on the phone, I couldn't get my money back for this lesson.
I'd strongly recommend not using takelessons at all, they've put a horrible taste in my mouth for their entire service.

I have a strong knowledge of this subject as well as over twenty years' experience teaching it. I have taught grammar as part of private tutoring sessions as well as in classroom settings as part of a larger subject (Language Arts, English Language and Literature, etc.).
I have over thirty years of experience working with students of all ages, both in private and group settings. I have also taught in Latin America - in Spanish - as a Fulbright scholar. I have had the privilege of teaching with TakeLessons.com since 2012.
It was my purpose setting out to study music in general, not just to study an instrument but to use the instrument as a means of approaching music in the abstract. I set out to study music’s mechanics and theoretical foundations.
Jonathan is very knowledgeable and very meticulous. He has a precise and analytical sort of mind, and very strong foundations in his classical training.
To have a wealth of knowledge in one's subject is not enough, one also has to know how to teach (which is a whole skillset of its own). It is clear Jonathan is an experienced teacher. I have never felt rushed with Jonathan, he is very generous with his time. He provides ample resources for study outside of our sessions, and is quick to respond to emails. He has lent me books, sent me links to videos, and provided me with plenty of homework.
Jonathan has also been very accommodating in allowing me to have some authority in planning lessons and exploring my own interests. Particularly I wanted to study modal music and found a folk song in the Locrian Mode. We took a break from the Suzuki work we had been doing and he helped me transcribe the song and practice.
I could not recommend Jonathan enough, I am switching focus from violin to piano for the time being and will be employing him as my piano tutor, and I’m very much considering taking spanish lessons under his tutelage as well.

First and foremost, music should be fun! I am an experienced piano, voice, and songwriting teacher with 20 years of experience teaching and in the music industry as a whole. I'm also the author of the songwriting workbook, How To Write A Song On The Piano, published by Willis Music & Hal Leonard. Being part of the music education community is very important to me. I know how beneficial it is to each individual and that is something that can have a hugely positive impact in each of our lives. In my lessons, I create individualized lesson plans around each of my students goals and aspirations. Those plan include but are not limited to sight reading, music theory, ear training, performance techniques, mic technique, songwriting, sight singing, classical piano, pop piano, and artist development. I'm looking forward to getting to know you and help you with all your music goals!

I’ve always was a musician but only discovered my voice 10 years ago. I have gone through so many struggles to find my voice and I can help you find yours quicker than I did. I have gone through the wrong path and have had amazing teachers get me out of traps and dead ends and in return I’ve been able to help my students do the same. I’ve been teaching for 6 years now and it has been another passion of mine to see my students grow and achieve their dreams.
I am a profesional operatic Bass from San Jose California and now living in Las Vegas NV. Currently I sing with many opera companies around the United States and Europe. Singing has been my number one passion but teaching comes in at a close second. I love seeing my students grow and watching the t

One of the most iconic sounds in music is the sound of a ukulele strumming patterns. It automatically conjures up in one’s mind scenes of a beach in Hawaii (which happens to be the title of an amazing Ukulele song by Ziggy Marley, but we’ll get to that) with its tiki huts, hula skirts, and lei. It’s most likely what brought you to want to learn the ukulele in first place. And this technique, strumming, is one of the first techniques you need to master in order to bring your Ukulele pla …

As a beginner violinist, chances are you’re eager to play easy violin songs that will show off your new skills.
