Broadway Singing Lessons in Yellow Springs. Amazing Teachers.

I believe everyone has the ability to sing … some better than others, of course, -- but regardless, I believe every voice can make a beautiful sound. I believe learning to sing requires team work: with the proper instruction and learning tools from me, the instructor, and with the dedication (practice, practice, practice) from you, the student, a well-rounded singer can emerge.

I began singing when I was five years old in church. I continued singing exclusively inspirational music until I was a teenager. At that time, in addition to the second soprano part I sang in a five-part harmony
a Capella (without instrumental accompaniment) Gospel group, I also sang in a couple of bands (Rhythm and Blues, and Jazz). My undergraduate studies were completed at the American University, where I majored in Communications (B.A.), and minored in Music, voice being my instrument. During my undergraduate studies, I was recruited and performed as the lead female vocalist for a Rock band that ...

My lessons consist of proper vocal technique, musical theater repertoire, and performance and audition techniques.

Broadway music is a great way to improve those vocal chords and there is so much material to work with. Most students choose two favorite songs to start. Or I can definitely help you with that! Basic concepts are learned or reviewed such as breathing, vowel modification, range extension. i will compose some specific vocal exercises to help you with you goals. I will also incorporate a couple perhaps lesser known musical pieces you may not know and can choose ones that will expand your vocal talent.

I love, love, love Broadway and am close to NYC so go to many shows (Pre-Covid anyway) And then so love to teach and Broadway tunes are truly some of the best songs to coach you into being a better singer. I also have an optional group lesson, or Masterclass approximately every 6-8 weeks where you have the opportunity to perform or observe other students performing. And everyone can sing, I promise.
