For over 25 years, Stephanie has enjoyed success as a singer/songwriter, musician, director and teacher. Beginning her music education at age four, she continued to study piano and voice through college. While attending The Ohio State University, she studied vocal performance and communications.

The last 18 years of her vocation has been as a Music/Worship Director in the large church setting. During this time, she had the privilege of directing and leading adult and children’s groups. She has led a variety of groups including vocal choirs, praise teams, bell choirs, drama teams, instrumental groups and musicals. Recently, she has retired from this role to focus on private teaching. Stephanie recently auditioned for and joined a Classic Rock/Funk/R&B band. That has always been on her bucket list!

As a teacher, I've had experience teaching both young children and adults in many settings, whether it be in a classroom, small group lesson, or one-on-one. I pride myself on providing lessons that are uniquely individual and foster a students strengths while also building on their weaknesses. The best part about being a music educator is that I get to share my love of music with all of my students. About Chelsea:
Soprano, Chelsea B. made her operatic debut in 2005 in Italy with Operafestival di Roma in their main stage production of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. While in Rome Chelsea B. also was featured in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. She has also been involved in other concert and oratorio works such as Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras No.5, Rutter's Requiem, and Mozart's Requiem.

Along with her classical training she has performed in many musicals such as The King and Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, and œThe Boyfriend. Chelsea B. is an honored NATS (National Association for the Teachers of Singing) competitor, Peabody Scholarship recipient, and Bland Music Scholarship recipient. Recently, Chelsea B. worked with the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra on their spring and summer concert series. When she's not singing, you may find Chelsea B. enjoying a run through the neighborhood, or enjoying some time with her cat CJ.

Chelsea B. holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees form the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University.

I love Chelsea!!!!! She has helped widen my range and has introduced me to opera singing. That is something that I thought I could never do but she is so patient with me and has made the entire time fun!! Her home is very welcoming and relaxing; it is very conducive for learning.

Chelsea has been teaching my 14 year old grandson now for over 2 years. She is actually "gets him" where many teachers don't and she manages to bring the absolutely best out in him. She clearly loves her work and it shows so much so that after many years of playing the piano, more off than on recently, I decided to take lessons with her too. I could not be more pleased with the outcome.

About Jacquie
As a young child, Jacquie began to show interest in both piano and voice. Coming from a musical family tree, her father began teaching her beginner piano as well as vocal harmony through original children compositions. She began her formal piano training at age 8 and continued to study for the next 5 years. At this time she also began writing music and recording her compositions in the family recording studio.

Around the age of 12, Jacquie began her training in classical voice. She is well versed in all styles from Opera to Pop and has the unique ability to train others to accomplish their musical goals. As a Coloratura Soprano she has starred in many productions and won prestigious vocal competitions throughout the USA and Europe. Jacquie is an accomplished Contemporary Songwriter and Recording Artist which has caught the eye of quit
e a few National Recording Companies. In the Summer of 2000 she toured throughout Tuscany, Italy as a featured soloist with SSMA with an Orchestral Ensemble. While in college she minored in Piano Performance and majored in Vocal Performance.

Jacquie began teaching at the age of 16 from her family's music store in beginner piano and voice where she learned the art of being an private instructor. Since then she has taught at other prestigious Music Schools and has trained students of all ages to the advanced level. She prides herself on the ability to be able to customize each lesson to accommodate both the student's wants and needs. She has trained many students who have gained successful entrance into LVPA Charter High School, Community Theaters and highly acclaimed competitions such as "American Idol." As a private instructor Jacquie believes that lessons can be both FUN and rewarding. Within the first 3-6 months a student will have learned the beginning techniques for either piano or voice and have quite a few songs added to their repertoire.

When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

About me!

I am a Westminster Choir College '11 Alum  who graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music, summa cum laude. I also have my master's degree in music therapy from Drexel University. I am also a Member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and a  Board Certified Music Therapist. During my time at school I performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Center, and did music therapy work with older adults, as well as disadvantaged children and parents.

I also have my own parent/child music class I host every Thursday September-May. It's never to early to start a music education!

I have been teaching for over four years and now have a studio of more than 70 happy students. Teaching music is my passion, and I love seeing students grow!

I often draw upon my experience from my master's degree in music therapy, which taught me that music can have a profound effect on the human brain and upon cognitive development.  My skills as a music therapist allow me to better understand a student's cognitive strengths and areas for improvement, and to develop individualized teaching strategies which utilize student strengths.

I adjust my teaching style to the students goals. I like to say I am laid back but do expect progress each week. I can teach the piano for beginner to advanced students. I have found that each publisher of method books focus on different styles of music. Over the years I have picked the best of each one and we will use the best of the best. I also have edited music for students over the years and have a wide collection of supplemental music. As an example I love Disney music and a beginner after 3 months they will be learning "A Whole New World" from Aladdin. I can teach beginning Guitar students. My specialty is teaching to read "real" music as opposed to tab. Beginners need lots of TLC with the guitar because of the length of time it takes to make "good" sounds of the guitar. Learning good technique in a fun way is essential for good student progress.

Also I can teach beginning-intermediate vocal lessons. My main focus is developing proper vocal technique with vocal exercises and breathing techniques and still making it interesting and fun.
With all of this, i also teach music theory. Whether by itself or along with instrumental lessons, music theory is an essential for all musicians. Music theory is the how and why of everything we do in music.

I currently have a baby grand, a spinet piano, 16 track sequencer, performance digital piano, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, flute, music stands and keyboard stands.

For the piano I use a mixed method of teaching depending on the students goals. I have used Schaum, Faber, Alfred, Thompson and Bastien. I also use Hannon for advanced students and Duvornoy, Alfred and other types of pedagogy for technique and exercises. I have also edited many pieces of music for early beginners to have fun with. Met with Margaret in home with a entourage of people including Singer, Mom, Dad, Sound Guy, Talent Agent and Assistant. Everybody was included in the meet and greet and Margaret was so kind to take questions from the entourage as well. I received lessons from Katherine over the summer. This was my first time with online lessons, but took lessons before from someone else one on one. The attention to detail, new techniques, and patience from Katherine far out weigh the one on one received. Emo has been an excellent teacher who taught me not only vocal techniques and exercises (which boosted the range and fullness of my voice), but also various aspects of music production and performance, such as mixing songs in Logic and using a vocal processor when performing. I'd definitely recommend to anyone who not only wants to improve their singing skills, but wants to become a more skilled all-around musician.

*I graduated from Kent State University (Kent, OH) in December, 2009, with my Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree (Magna cum Laude).
*I’ve taught music in small ensembles and marching band camps since July, 2007.
*I taught from 2010-2016 in the Texas Public Schools as a General Music teacher/Choir Director.
*I taught theatre for one year.

***Teaching Style***
-I'm definitely a fun-loving, outgoing person.
-My teaching style is tailored to each of my students;
- I try to think-outside-the-box as much as possible and utilize creativity.
-I talk as little as possible in lessons; my goal is for the student to play as much as possible. With beginners, I may have to talk a bit more.
-I often model for the student what they should do: example: middle c position on the piano.
-If seeing ME isn’t enough for my visual learners, I will utilize a video clip.
-For my tactile learners, sometimes I have to move their fingers into position myself.
-For my sound learners, I will play or sing a pitch, show them the slide position or fingering to that note, and have them try to match it by ear.
-I also question my students.
-I have many other techniques as well.
-I am VERY much pro Positive Reinforcement!

*** Lesson details ***
-I am NOT a rigid teacher; I am pretty relaxed.
-However, I am VERY adamant about practicing between lessons - no matter what type of instrument you may be learning. It is the only way to improve. :)
-We will ALWAYS begin with a warm-up, we may/may not move into rhythm exercises, possible ear training, music theory, and your music.
-The list of all that I teach is on my page, but I teach all wind instruments (woodwind/brass), piano, and voice. I also teach acting techniques and improvisation skills.

***Students’ responsibility:***
-Daily practice is strongly recommended. It is important and necessary for steady progress.
-For piano lessons, students should have neat, clean, trimmed nails at every lesson.
-Students should bring water to voice lessons.
-Reed players should ensure they have working/non-cracked reeds.
-Brass players should ensure all valves/slides are oiled/greased.
-Students must be prepared for each lesson.

***Parents’ responsibility:***
-Parents should remain until their child’s lesson is complete.
-Parents should regularly check and support the students practice routine.

*** Studio Equipment ***
-One Yamaha keyboard w/pedal; space for parents to sit and observe lessons.
-Music stand
-Square chairs to sit on

IMPORTANT NOTE: My home, where my studio is located, is inhabited by four very sweet cats. Keep this in mind when you plan to sign up for lessons. :)

Miss Elyse is FUN and so funny! My lessons with her go by too fast. She gives me really good practice tips about playing hands apart, then slowly adding them together. Miss Elyse got me to use my metronome the right way, too. My music is fun too.
