I am an avid reader myself, and I have experience with students who have dyslexia, ADHD, or for whom English is a second language, as well as students who may just need a little bit of extra practice/help.
I have a good sense of what aspects of reading are difficult for students, and often incorporate music, rhythm, rhyme, drama/acting, and humor, to help struggling readers.

About Linda
*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec
tronic keyboard, in the lessons.
Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.
Banjo: I teach bluegrass, country, and some blues and rock music. I can also teach a bit of old-timey frailing/clawhammer style.
English and Reading: I am highly qualified, to tutor/teach English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) to both native English speakers and to those learning it as a second language.
*** I am particularly good at working with children who have a.d.h.d. and other learning disabilities!

I have taught over twenty reading and English students from kindergarten through college graduates. I build language arts skills in comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, reading, writing, sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, etc.

Let me show you how successful you or your child can be!

About Matthew
Dear Parents and Students,

May I be a personal tutor for you or your child? I have been successfully tutoring for over 12 years. I have great references, and I am one of the top tutors because I am so easy to work with. I teach in person, or via TakeLessons classroom, telephone, Skype, FaceTime, Google Hangouts, Join.me, Appear.in, Screenhero (remote desktop, screen sharing) interactive whiteboards, as well as email attachments (PDF, Word, Excel, etc.) I graduated with honors, Summa Cum Laude from Case Western Reserve University, where I made the Dean's List. I am patient, friendly and many students tell me that I explain concepts more effectively than their teachers. I am available weekdays or weekends, days or nights, throughout the entire year. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have regarding my experience and teaching methods. While it should go without saying, I have a clean background that has been verified by the FBI and BCII. Let me know if you would like to set up an introductory lesson to design a customized strategy. There is no obligation to continue unless a customer is 100% satisfied.

2. widest student age range
3. farthest geographical regions
4. largest client base
5. most hours taught monthly

It is my goal to help build your confidence as a reader. I was personally selected by multiple principles in Baltimore County Public School district (BCPS) to teach, and hold the title of Reading Specialist. I have taught over a hundred students, and even completed a leveled literacy workshop that gives teachers the tools to increase elementary student's reading. Many of my students moved up in reading levels, and most importantly felt confident as readers. I will make reading fun, as I implement my background of the Performing Arts into the lesson, "Reader's Theatre."

About Kaira
Hello! My name is Kaira!

I am an educator in the performing arts and reading. My love and extensive background in theatre, and music is utilized in teaching children: singing, acting and reading. I am contracted through Baltimore County Public Schools as a temporary teacher, which has granted me the opportunity to teach yearly as an Reading Specialist. As an Independent Contractor Teacher, BCPS has provided me with the opportunity to learn and teach a Leveled Literacy program that strategically helps children to increase their reading literacy. I have helped over 50 children in a 4-month period of time to move up one level in reading while using this program. Along with the dedication of the child, parent partnering, and my fun reading curriculums can help a child succeed in the area of reading. These experiences ignited me to open up
my own business to teach children who have a desire to become the Performing Artist of their dreams, and or a Confident Reader.

Experience:
*Over 15 years of experience teaching children.
*Over 15 years of experience as a Performer in the entertainment business.
*Over 5 years of experience as a Production Associate and Casting Director in the entertainment business.

Education:
*Theatre Arts, B.A, The University of Nevada Las Vegas
*Television, Radio and Film, M.A, S.I Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University
*Elementary Education (Reading and ESL), M.A, Grand Canyon University (One year of education)

Locations (Important Note):
* Meeting at the library is ONLY for "Reading Sessions." You will have a choice to have class at the library or via TakeLesson Classroom, whichever location is convenient for you. :)

You can expect to have fun during our sessions. So, be prepared to have a great time while learning! I look forward to helping you reach your goals as a Performing Artist or Confident Reader!

I love teaching reading to students because it opens up the doors of their imaginations. Good reading is essential and still valued in the United States. I will help those who have small difficulties to not being able to read at all.

About Cathryn
Hello! My name is Cathy and I have been teaching voice (singing) for over 30 years. But don't let that fool you into thinking I'm a stogy old girl who doesn't have a pulse on contemporary music. I teach pop, country, broadway, folk, whatever it is your interested in. I do teach with vocal exercises because without them no changes will be made and that's the whole point right to change your voice? However you do get to sing songs. I teach, so that you will change your voice and succeed in whatever avenue you want. My degree is in Vocal Performance from Northeastern Illinois University and one year of Masters work in Drama from DePaul University.

I also teach ESL, Reading, Writing, History which I have done for the past ten years. I use a variety of techniques since no two people are alike to help you learn English or the Ameri
can lifestyle. I presently teach Caterpillar employees, spouses and children. Let me teach you and see how far we can go.

Thank you.

Cathy is very patient with my 12 year old, she is teaching her the fundamentals of singing and that singing is more than just your voice. I enjoy watching them stretch and do exercises to strength her core. My daughter also enjoys that Cathy
lets her have a choice in the songs they work on. My daughter also says, "she is fun and funny!"
