Aaron knows how to work with kids. After 30 minutes my 6 yo came out confident and ready to play!! He doesn’t realize that he still is terrible because he at least knows one chord!! Lol!

Guitar students start with five subjects.

1) Technique is concerned with the development of the physical mechanics involved in playing the instrument.

2) Scales are a part of basic music vocabulary and building blocks of the musical language.

3) Chords are also basic vocabulary of the musical language.

4) Note reading is not required for every student. It really depends on the students' goals. However, I strongly encourage everyone learn to read musical notation, (more than tablature). Literacy in reading music is analogous to literacy in reading in our English language. Can you imagine how much smaller our world would be if we couldn't read?

5) Songs utilize the skills and concepts of all the previously mentioned subjects and are the goal of studying music. The student chooses what songs they want to play, guided by my suggestions; Jazz, rock, blues, country, bluegrass, R &B - "How deep is the ocean, how high is the sky?"

A beginning student will practice all

About Phillip

I teach music. The guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele just happen to be the particular instruments I choose. Music as a language, discipline, and art, is the goal. I've been teaching, performing, studying, composing, for some thirty years. I've studied and gigged in the classical, jazz, rock, blues, R & B, and country idioms. I've taught composition and improvisation to instruments other than guitar, (vocalists, fiddle, sax, piano, trumpet) I've taught all ages and levels. I currently pursue a doctorate of music in guitar at university. Students learn many things when studying with me. They learn physically how to play a particular instrument while learning music as its own language. Students learn how to learn, learn self-discipline, and access their musical expression, all potential life changing experiences. I am happy and

excited to announce I am available for on-line lessons, and will now be able to work with students from all over the world, regardless of distance or location!

*** Lesson Details ***
I am laid back, but at the same time very goal directed. I like to do technique and/or vocabulary, note reading, and songs every lesson. After six months students are able to to 'jam', (improvise over chord changes such as the blues). They are well on their way to becoming literate, probably a third way through the first book. They probably can play a half dozen songs well, and are starting to strum (comp) chord progressions in a musically rhythmic way. They may even have played in a couple concerts by then.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Office studio w/ guitar, bass, amps, and seating for parents, computer with skype capability.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my guitar and writing tools, extra picks, extra paper etc. Students provide their own instrument, method book, staff paper, notebook paper. Hopefully they have a music stand and their own guitar picks and other items relevant for the study of their instrument.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, jazz, rock, blues, country, bluegrass, theory/composition, improvisation

I've been teaching guitar for 30 years. My students have gone on to play professionally, have their songs on iTunes and teach at the college level. Once I get an idea of what type of guitar you are interested in, and what style, I can develop a plan for you. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Eric

Hi,

Welcome to my TL's profile!

If you're looking at this site, you're already on your way to becoming an AWESOME musician! Whether this is your first attempt at music lessons or you've been playing for a while and trying to improve your skills, I'm EXCITED about working with you. I am a professional music educator and performer that has a passion for music and teaching. I will gear each lesson to fit your musical interests and playing level, while I encourage and motivate. My goal is to use proven teaching methods and a supportive learning environment to help you realize your musical potential, as well as having FUN while doing it.

Here's some background about myself, to help you decide if I'm a good fit as your new instructor.

I come from a family of musicians. Began guitar lessons at age five as the Beatles were in

vading the American music scene. I grew up in New Jersey, performing in rock bands until becoming interested in classical guitar. With New York City only a short bus ride away, I spent as much time as possible in the city, studying guitar with Russian born Classical Guitarist, Dr. Alexander Bellow, and Jazz Legend "Bucky" Pizzarelli. During this time, I attended recitals of such notables as Andre Segovia, Julian Bream and John Williams. Being immersed in this musical scene inspired me to make music my life.

Earned a degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, where I studied under the direction of guitar pedagogue, Richard Provost. While at Hartt and shortly after, I performed in numerous Master Classes for internationally acclaimed artists such as Manuel Barrueco, Christopher Parkening, Oscar Ghiglia, Michael Lorimer, and Carlos Barbosa-Lima.

I have taught guitar at the college level for over twenty years teaching on the music faculties of University of Central Florida, Rollins College, Stetson University, Bethune Cookman College, Florida Southern College, and St. Leo College. I taught private guitar lessons, class guitar, and guitar ensemble

I have appeared hundreds times at Disney and Sea World as well as other venues around Central Florida. My experience includes performing solo and in small groups. I have also performed with rock groups, stage bands, folk groups, classical ensembles, jazz combos, Broadway shows, operas, as well as solo recitals, and concerto appearances.

Throughout the years I have had many unique experiences while performing. One of my favorites being the opportunity to play the MASH theme song for Alan Alda as well as other stars in attendance at a cast party for the TV show, Win, Lose or Draw at EPCOT Center.

Although I enjoy performing, I considers teaching music to be highly gratifying. The importance of giving students a good foundation with the proper technique and performance skills cannot be underestimated. When a student can play a song from beginning to end with style and confidence you know you've given them a gift that will offer them enjoyment for the rest of their lives.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Ipad apps, music stand, instrument stands, tuner, metronome, amp, chairs,

*** Specialties ***

Fingerstyle- Classical, Fingerstyle Jazz, Folk, Celtic.

Pickstyle- Rock, Blues, Jazz.

I would highly recommend Eric at House of Music for guitar lessons. I am after a certain style of guitar music using finger picking to play for my special needs son. I have learned that not all teachers are familiar with this style. Thankfully, Eric is great at it. He is also teaching me how to read music and not just play the chords or tab which is something I had overlooked. I am thankful he has been able to work with me and my unique set of circumstances and help me reach my goals.

Eric Lesko taught my son Brian guitar 18 years ago when Brian was a teenager. My son got to a point that he didn't want to practice and we were thinking about giving up the lessons. However, Eric got Brian playing whatever kind of music my son was interested in and he continued taking for a few years thereafter, completely enjoying it. When I decided to take up the guitar around eight years ago, Eric was the first and only instructor I thought of. Besides being very capable musically, he is willing to move in any direction that you want in order to keep you interested and helping you achieve your goals. He always has suggestions on ways to approach a particular piece in order to make playing fun and not frustrating. He is also well-versed in the use of technology to make playing a continuum as you gain skills, making a huge difference in being able to get more out of practice. Finally, he is conveniently located in a new facility in downtown Oviedo and he is very flexible with lesson days and times. Eric's greatest asset is that he wants the student to enjoy playing as much as he does!

For beginners we will begin by learning the simple/core chords that are most frequently found in popular songs. Upon learning the chords we will move onto transitioning between chords and learn some basic tunes and simple strumming patterns. After that we will begin with more advanced chords which will allow you the chance to play a much larger variety of songs. Once those chords have been mastered students will begin to learn more advanced strumming patterns and transitions between chords, along with how to read sheet music and tablature.

About Michael

Hello everybody, my name is Michael and I have been playing both the guitar and piano since I was four years old. I am a full-time music instructor, and I also perform frequently on the weekend. My main musical interests include americana and country music, but I have spent time learning several other types of music as well. My favorite style to teach is the blues. I am looking to teach beginner to intermediate students and help them learn/perfect the basic and intermediate skills of guitar and piano.

Linda
"A very skilled teacher

Paul is a very skilled teacher. He has a lot of experience with guitar, and can play amazingly. He is very serious about my guitar
playing, but doesn't put pressure on me. He is great about making sure I practice enough. If I have a problem with the song/tune we are currently working on, he is willing to change. One of my favorite things about Paul is that even though he's serious, he is really funny, and all of our lessons are fun. Another one of my favorite things about our lessons, is that most of the songs I learn, are chosen by me. He lets me have a say in the song choice. I definitely think he is a great teacher, and your son, daughter, etc. would learn a lot."

"Jesse is a fantastic teacher. Really loved the way he had my daughter start working immediately on popular songs from her favorite artists--that was just
a wonderful way of keeping her interested while also working on basics. He always tries to get her to think for herself about what's she's doing. He also has the patience of a saint for those lessons when she seems to be mentally out of it!"

"Excellent class!"
Julie
"I'm into my second month of weekly guitar lessons with Brett and can't believe how well I am playing already!! I've had some basic guitar lessons in the
past but still very much a beginner. Brett knew precisely where to start and what I needed next to advance my playing, and broke it down into attainable steps. So far I've learned a good handful of strum patterns; I can finally play two songs pretty well and sing along; and I am in the rudimentary stage of learning to finger pick. Really love the fact that beautiful sounds are coming from my instrument! Highly recommend if you're ready to make the commitment to becoming a capable player."

"I've been with Karney for a few years now, and I have learned so much from him! I remember thinking about how I would probably never be able to learn to p
lay an instrument, but after working with Karney for only a short time, that changed. Karney is such a nice guy, and a wonderful guitar player! He is able to teach a variety of genres as well. I would highly recommend him as a teacher! :)"

I have studied with Alex for over 5 years, time in which I feel I have accomplished so much on the guitar. Alex is awesome! He has real
passion for the music and the instrument he teaches, he is extremely patient, has great insights in explaining the music or the techniques and shows a great resourcefulness in approaching various methods to each musical style he teaches."

My 8 yr old d

The other instructors we tried were good, but they still are nowhere near the teaching prowess and energy of Moa."

"Michael is an absolutely excellent instructor. I am a complete beginner and Michael explains things clearly and succinctly. He went through enough music t
heory to give me a good baseline to continue learning, but also balanced it with immediate practical skills. After 2 lessons, I'm already working on learning my first songs. Michael is both an outstanding musician and a great teacher."

"Before the lesson today I was having anxiety and performance issues, and Tim really encouraged me and cut right through the problem. He knew exactly how
to handle it without making me feel inferior and giving me the confidence to overcome it. Tim is very casual and at the same time professional bringing you to a place of relaxation and enjoying the journey, not just the destination. I have been playing for many years but still learning the basics that I never learned, and although it could be frustrating to go back, he has made it rewarding and simple."

5 Delightful Jazz Guitar Licks - Tabs and Audio

By Madalyn Danielson

Having a few guitar licks up your sleeve is super helpful when you're improvising. Guitar teacher Samuel B. shares a few of his favorite jazz guitar licks... Before we begin playing these jazz guitar licks, it's a good idea to get familiar with the pentatonic scale. The pentatonic scale is a more versatile and useful scale than you might think. While being an easily-recognized basis for blues, rock, and country solos, it can be (and frequently is) a scale used for jazz solos, too. A …
