Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!
ave been teaching and performing for over a decade both in the US, and in England. I have played in various bands and have produced independent artists. I have worked for a recording studio and for various academic institutions including the Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School in New York city.
I obtained my degree from Purchase College in New York and am a member of their Conservatory of Music.
*** Lesson Details *** I construct lessons for each individual student depending on their musical tastes, goals, and current skill level etc. I want each person to get as much from their time studying with me as possible. Within three to six months, I'll have you working on timing, theory, ear training, improv, and songs/styles of music you may be interested in. I'm laid back, however, I expect at least the minimum practice time between lessons, which I'll change throughout the course of our time together depending on your skill level etc. Practice materials I draw up are included. I write out everything in plain English and do not require the use of sheet music!
*** Studio Equipment *** Small recording studio, piano, various guitars, bass, and amps.
*** Travel Equipment *** guitar, bass, laptop, digital recorder.
*** Specialties *** I concentrate on ear training, improvisation, and explore styles ranging from pop, alternative, rock, prog, and blues, to metal, funk, and folk etc. I do not require sight reading skills for any level of student. Rather, I work with the student with theory and arrangement conventions to really understand the music. This intern, greatly sharpens their musical ear and helps them to learn music much faster because they understand how it is put together; why and how it works, etc.
***Teaching Special Needs*** I have experience teaching students who have been visually impaired, blind, hearing impaired, or who have had mild learning disabilities. I am also comfortable with a student bringing their service dog or therapy dog to our lessons if they wish.
Cameron is an excellent teacher for me. I am 11 years old and have been playing for almost a year with him. He is patient and makes me stretch to be a better guitarist. He takes time to find songs at my level of learning and accommodates my tastes in music. I would recommend him for anyone who is interested in playing guitar.
June 12, 2015
I enjoyed my first lesson with Cameron. He explained things clearly so I could understand. Can't wait for my next lesson.
February 14, 2013
A solid teacher with a lot of experience
Cameron is great at tailoring the lessons to my musical taste without compromising the theory, basics and fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons for one year and will not go elsewhere anytime soon. His vast musical knowledge helps merge the theory with concrete examples. No question remains unanswered.
Funk, slap, walking, in-the-pocket. All strange terms that you'll need to know. Let me show you how to put down the foundation to most musical styles from rock to r&b or even metal!
I started playing guitar originally in 1991. I picked up bass and ukulele (and then gradually a plethora of other instruments) over the ensuing years. I started teaching in 2001 throughout the Chicagoland area. First in music stores, then schools, then people's homes (including mine) and then online (live via Zoom).
Besides teaching and performing, I also ran an all ages music venue and recording studio from 2006-2015.
Teaching is my biggest love and I love seeing students learn. There isn’t a style I will not teach. All music to me is fascinating
*** Lesson Details *** All lessons start with the basics (assuming the student doesn’t already know them). This includes: reading music and chord diagrams, understanding rhythm, basic music theory, etc. Meanwhile, we will apply this knowledge to songs of the student’s choice- this wa
y they’re learning songs they like, and more about the instrument and music at the same time. As time goes on we’ll get into playing lead, advanced theory, songwriting and more.
Above is the plan, but I am always open to suggestions from the students as well. As long as they are learning, I am happy. In all reality, we can spend years on just one of the many paths you can go down with music- so I am always continually re-checking on the student’s current and up-to-date goals.
*** Specialties *** Patience. I feel like it is necessary to be a good teacher. Other than that, I am very confident in my teaching skills. I love so many genres of music that its hard to say where my best talents lie. But no matter what the style, I will say one thing that I have always been strict about is proper technique and rhythm. I feel like timing is something that a lot of musicians take for granted and often have to learn the hard way later on. I try to incorporate it soon after a beginner's first lessons.
Ian is an incredible teacher. Very patient and professional. The way he teaches is very straight forward and easy to understand. I can’t wait to learn more & more... less than a week has passed since my lesson. I already feel so comfortable with my ukulele,
All the utube lessons were useless for me. I realized this after 1 lesson with Ian. The frustration factor on utube was a waste of time for me. I am so happy I chose ian & this company.
Thank you so much, jen

My son loves learning guitar from Ian! He is so patient with children. His love for music is infectious. He makes my son look forward to learning each week. If you want to learn guitar... Pick Ian!
February 27, 2014
great teacher for popular acoustic guitar
Ian is a no nonsense well organized guy. He taught me using exercises he wrote out on paper mostly in tabulature form. He used a metronome from the first lesson and always introduced a music theory concept such as rhythm, pentatonic scales, and chord transposition. He will not move past any exercise until you can demonstrate proficiency so there is no choice but to draw your own conclusion that you need to practice more if you want to progress. He teaches out of his local all ages music venue, or will travel to your home.
Bass Guitar Lessons for all skill levels and styles
I have been playing and teaching professionally for over ten years. I love to play in all styles, from classical to jazz to rock & roll. I have been playing guitar and singing with a blues rock band for over 6 years now, and have had much experience writing songs and performing live. I have also had my classical compositions performed live by local orchestras and have had some of my music featured in commercials. Recently, I have put together an album of piano and synthesizer based instrumentals.
Lesson plans are based entirely on the student. Whether the student wishes to begin just learning the songs they enjoy, decides to delve into a long term theory based program, or even both, I can create a lesson plan catered to their personal needs.
I specialize in rock & roll and all the of the music that it is built upon. Anything from
blues to country to R&B to bluegrass is something I have a strong fascination and background with. I am also extremely well versed in college level music theory, and have helped many students prepare for their AP Music Theory tests.
I am a dedicated, passionate, friendly and patient teacher. My goal is to help my students become inspired, well rounded musicians.
I've taught over 40,000 private music lessons to students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. I've had tremendous success at helping students reach their musical goals and become well rounded musicians. I have an associates degree in liberal arts with a concentration on music and studied privately with several of the best teachers in Buffalo, NY. Additionally, I was in 3 successful bands, played hundreds of shows, made 2 professional recordings and have recorded other artists in my studio...I specialize in teaching beginners and children and have vast experience with both.
*** Lesson Details *** I try and make the rapport with students comfortable and informal while at the same time constantly pushing them to improve and grow. I strongly encourage all students to work on all aspects of their playing, to become well-rounded musicia
ns and study multiple techniques, genres and music theory.
*** Studio Equipment *** Dining Room is designated for music: amps, guitars, basses, recording equipment, chairs, parents must stay for lessons under 18: comfy and spacious.
*** Travel Equipment *** Students will need their instrument, tuner, lesson books, notebook and pen. I will provide everything else.
*** Specialties *** I have a well-rounded approach to teaching. I teach a variety of techniques(picking, finger picking, pick and finger technique, improvisation, ear training, chord/melody playing etc.) and a variety of styles.(mainly rock, folk, jazz and blues)
Eric is a really great teacher! He is very patient with my 13 year old daughter, a beginner, during her lessons and always seems very supportive and enthusiastic as she slowly progresses from week to week. He is an accomplished musician himself and plays along with her to show her how something should sound. Eric has a nice laid back attitude, is very on target with my daughter's musical tastes and he has a great personality! I am very happy with his teaching methods and we hope to continue her lessons with him for the next few years.

Great instructor. Has a lot of background knowledge, which may be intimdating to some. But he does a good job of identifying strengths and weaknesses upon which to work.
March 17, 2016
Eric was great. He is obviously very knowledgeable but he is also easy to talk to and seemed to quickly understand what I knew and what I didn't. A good communicator and his set up for the lessons was very comfortable and easy to find. One hour lesson flew by!

Music has been a lifelong pursuit for me. I have played many instruments over the years while performing with various groups in and out of school. Eventually I decided that music was how I wanted to make my living. Since earning my degree in Instrumental Performance/Jazz Studies from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, I have been performing and teaching professionally. I have had the pleasure of studying and working with some of the finest musicians. Each day brings new and exciting challenges to be met. I have really enjoyed the journey to this point and am looking forward to more great things in the future.
My lessons are available to anyone who wants to grow musically. They can be as simple or as challenging as you like. I move at your pace and strive for every lesson to be a fun and rewarding learning experience. Whethe

Andrew is the most amazing teacher ever! Very patient! Keeps the lessons fun with music I like. Offers tons of encouragement. I highly highly recommend him!!!
September 16, 2019
My 10 year old son has been taking lessons with Andrew for several months and we couldn't be happier. He's very talented and can pick up the tune of any song you throw at him. My son has learned to play songs featured in his favorite movies, which makes learning them much more enjoyable. Andrew has a way of making each lesson fun while still teaching new skills. He's a friendly, cool teacher and very patient with kids. He's flexible with schedules and responds to texts quickly. I highly recommend Andrew for guitar lessons for anyone who wants to learn.
June 11, 2019
I have been taking lessons with Andrew for almost two years. I have enjoyed every lesson and have gained knowledge and skill beyond my expectations!! Even when I’ve had challenges in practice time, Andrew meets me where I’m at and has the ability to make sure that I finish the lesson with challenges, new goals and guitar knowledge! I highly recommend him!

TakeLessons.com Instructor since 2012, Kyle K. is now available for online lessons worldwide featuring a screen sharing experience like no other for personal and detailed instruction!
Kyle has been playing guitar for over 25 years, written hundreds of songs and is currently a professional composer and sound designer for television and Hollywood movie trailers. Credits include all major networks and shows like American Idol, NFL games and movies like Jurassic Park and Independence Day. He has developed his own method of teaching to positively build on the student's strengths, dexterity, ear-training, natural technique, memorization and creativity.
The goal is to always design lessons around you as an individual to help you reach your goals as an artist and musician. Whether it's guitar, bass, songwriting or production this metho
d is used to maximize results!
A word from Kyle K: "I love music! To me, it's a way of life. From listening to playing to writing and of course teaching. I grew up with music all around me at school and home. My dad was a piano player and teacher so music has been a part of my life since day one and I want to share what I have learned. Everyone has a unique musical talent and I enjoy helping them find it. I believe that anyone can be an excellent musician. Playing an instrument should be a fun and creative adventure. Whether it's strumming at home, playing out in the clubs, or writing the next big hit, I will do my best to get you there!
My musical life began when I was in 5th grade and my dad bought me a saxophone, which I played for over 12 years. I quickly learned how fast I could improve if I simply kept playing with focus. When I hit my teen years I fell in love with rock music and mowed enough lawns to buy my first guitar. I jammed and wrote songs with many other musicians and several bands over the years. We played countless shows and released a few albums. Now I write and produce music and sound design daily for TV, Film and Trailers for companies like Disney, Universal, MTV, NFL and many more.
I started teaching 11 years ago and found that it is one of my favorite things to do. Helping others grow into great musicians is rewarding and fun. I've learned that from grade school to retirement, each student is a unique and special individual. My lessons reflect that fact so that we can reach all your goals together. *My personal goal is to get my students to understand and write music that will stay with them and encourage them to continue."
All lessons take place in a fully operational Digital Recording Studio and dedicated lesson room. Gaining real world playing experience with current technology is a definite advantage over traditional lessons. This also allows the student to capture ideas when songwriting and provides a unique playing experience. Imagine looking back years down the line, listening to something you wrote and hearing the improvements and your own personal music history. That's what writing and recording as you learn is all about.
*** Lesson Details *** Everyone is different, and every lesson should be suited to fit the individual. Depending on the type of lessons (guitar, bass, music production, theory, etc.) the style teaching will be adjusted to fit. It's all about YOUR goals and needs.
Each student is going to receive lessons based on their preferences of genre and style of music they desire to play. I expect my students to practice regularly and have a good time as their abilities and knowledge grow. By working together, we can focus on goals and problem solving to get you to the next level of play. Most importantly, we are going to have a blast while we learn to play music!
*We'll start slow and build your knowledge base with each lesson. *You can expect to understand what you are playing AND be able to write your own music is desired. *You will be given everything you'll need to succeed including custom made drums and songs to play with so you can improve at home.
Let's start learning and improving today!

Kyle K has a unique teaching style. His Ableton Live knowledge has no bounds. In just five lessons he talked me through most of my usual brain-fog to help me understand, in the simplest terms, how to use Live to record music and use Midi to enhance your work. Super, Super man, Kyle is. I highly recommend Kyle if you need a teacher. John G.

Kyle employs an interactive teaching style that a total beginner like me needs to begin to understand how Ableton works.

I've been playing and singing music professionally for about 25 years. As a family
man and father of two, I also I earn my living and support my family with music. I have a very student-driven teaching style, work with students of all ages, with focus on helping the student achieve his or her individual goals, small or large. I try to keep the lessons fun but focused at the same time.
I bring a balanced and personalized teaching style to my lessons, based on a well rounded education and wide range of real-world life experience. I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts and have performance experience on many different fronts, from local rock cover bands to Top 40, from acoustic soloist to fronting a nationally touring Metallica tribute.
I come from a musical family - my father is also a pro musician. The biggest thing I've learned as a teacher of guitar, bass and voice is teaching the instrument has only made me a bigger student. The learning process never ends and that is one of the great things about music.
No matter where you are with the instrument - a beginner picking it up for the first time, or a seasoned pro of 10 years that just needs help "putting it together," I believe I can help you to get wherever you want to go.
Regarding availability - make sure to inquire if you don't see a time open that suits you - I am flexible. I perform 4-6 times a week and teach full time. Flex lessons tend to work very well.
First lesson was impressive. George is clearly fluent in the language of music. He was able to identify problems with my singing (which were not exactly what I thought they were)and give me solutions for them. He explained this to me in terms I understood. The hour with him was the most targeted constructive time I’ve had in my journey to become a singer. For lesson one, you can’t ask for more than that.

George is a personable, knowledgeable, and gifted teacher. He can tailor the lessons to fit anyone's needs.

George is an awesome teacher! He makes the lessons fun to learn and easy to understand.
Bass guitar is another instrument I teach. I can help you learn how to read bass clef notation, and play all the notes up and down the bass guitar fret board.
I specialize in teaching and performing Country, Blues, Rock n Roll, Folk, Bluegrass even a little Jazz. I love many musical styles. I teach both Electric and Acoustic guitar playing. And I'm now offering a huge list of different types of lessons. Please make sure to visit my "Subjects". That's is where you will really understand the skills that I've acquired over my long musical journey. So although guitar is my main instrument, As they say you can't take it with you when you go so I'm gladly passing the knowledge I've acquired to you.
Teaching is my passion. I do not teach for the money, although I do get paid, but what I charge is really reasonable by today's standard. I teach because I enjoy helping people learn how to play the guitar as well as other subjects. I have so much knowledge that I want to share that knowledge with oth
Because of my experience and educational background, I am able to help my students learn what they "need to know" in order to play the songs they want to play. Students will benefit from my unique teaching methods. I won't waste any time learning things that don't apply to your personalized objectives. You tell me what you want to be able to do and I will teach you what you need to know to get there. I have a easy going personality and a user friendly teaching style tailored to the students individual needs.
Here is some more information about my experience and educational background.
I've been a working musician almost my entire adult life. I'm performing around 60 gigs a year in three different bands. Each band I perform in is different and unique. I also perform from time to time as a soloist. When one dedicates their life to music the way that I have, it's not hard to find work. I have more work than I need. I love playing music so much that I now do it for the pure enjoyment. It's really difficult to do all the music I enjoy playing with just one band, that is why I play in three.
I’m am a student of the guitar as well as a teacher. You never stop learning. I'm also a Husband, Father, Son, and yes a grandfather.
Here is a little about my musical background. I started teaching guitar lessons to a few students in my home in 1978. Wow can’t believe it was that long ago. That led me to teaching private guitar lessons at two different music stores as well as guitar class for an adult continuing education program. After a run of 15 years and graduation with a Masters degree in Adult Learning and Development I became a serious student of the guitar studying around the country and in Canada. During this entire time I performed as a working musician in several bands. I am also a singer and songwriter. In 2017 my band Canyon Wind released our 3rd Album of all original music. I wrote or co-wrote all the songs.
*** Lesson Details *** I can teach a student how to: Read music and tablature Form and play chords needed to play songs Music Theory and ear training Good Timing Proper right and left hand technique Both Lead and Rhythm techniques Acoustic and Electric guitar And I can help the experienced player break bad playing habits and advance to higher levels of playing. I like to incorporate visual and audio aide as well as demonstration when I teach. I use all or part of these teaching methods and more in order to enhance the learning experience. I always base my instruction on the needs, abilities and goals of the student..
*** Studio Equipment *** Basement studio w/ guitar, amps, keyboard, pa system, vocal microphones and seating for parents
*** Specialties *** Country, Blues, Light Jazz, Classic Rock, Motown, Soul, Bluegrass. Acoustic and/or Electric guitar and Ukulele.
The Ukulele is a unique instrument and it's amazing how easy it is to play when you've developed great technique the way I have by playing the guitar. So if you're a guitar player and would like to branch out on the Ukulele I can show you how. Even if you don't play the guitar or have a desire to I can teach you Ukulele if you're a beginner. It's a fun instrument to play. Right and left hand technique is so important. I spend a lot of time making sure you develop great technique. It's amazing how many guitar students come to me with bad technique. I can help you clean up your playing by developing proper technique.
I can teach people how to play both "Lead and Rhythm Guitar, Soloing, Chords, strumming patterns, chord progressions, and a little finger picking. I teach how to use a plectrum, which is also called a pick. I'm primarily a flat picker when playing lead guitar and I love strumming away at playing rhythm. Learning how to play lead guitar is fun but when you think about it 90% of most tunes is made up of playing rhythm. It's so important to learn how to be a great rhythm player. In a band they call it playing in the pocket. but if you are a soloist supporting your own singing or in a duo where you are accompanying a vocalist playing solid rhythm is a great skill to have under your fingertips.
If you write your own music I can teach you music theory. You want to learn how to write your own music. I can guide you and teach you how to develop song structure, hooks and great melody lines to your tunes.
On the guitar most guitar players play by ear but if you desire to learn how to read music I can show you. I coach both singing and playing as well as preparing for performance. Both on vocals and guitar. I have never had just a vocal student but I encourage students to sing while they play. So if that is there desire I can help. I'll show you how to play guitar scales you can use for vocal exercises. While studying voice at Baldwin Wallace I learned how to play the vocal exercises my teacher was showing me on guitar. I can pass this knowledge on to you.
If you play in a band, or desire to play as a duo or soloist. I have the experience to guide you along your path. There is an art playing with others that can't be overlooked. If that is the direction you want to take your in good hands with my guidance.
Some of my students just want to play in the comfort of their own home. Maybe only with their dog or their significant other listening. They find great joy in doing this and have no desire to ever really perform in public. And that is GREAT! When you break it down to the least common denominator, we do this for the love of music. I love music and the joy it brings to my life. You can experience the same joy that I have so why not let me help you? Let's face it.... is there really a better instrument to learn than the guitar? From my perspective there is not. And it's never too late to start.
I've found Keith to be professional, good communicator and a great teacher for our 8 year old. He has patience and a real love for music and it shows. He is our first instructor so I don't have anything to compare him with but I do know people and feel great working with him. I forgot to mention, he has a little studio in his basement perfect for lessons.
I hope this helps anyone . Thx.

"Mark is excellent in a teacher and a person . Highly recommended by me . . . ."
I chose John because of his extensive experience as a professional musician and recommend him highly if you are looking for a great
instructor. If his patience with this 44 year old starting musician is any indication, I'm certain he's good with anyone at any age!"
"Tim came recommended from a friend. I had been playing guitar and bass for close to 20 years, without ever taking a single lesson. I'd been focusing on ba
ss for the last 10 years, and decided that I wanted to take my bass playing to the next level - theory, reading music, etc.
Fast forward a year later, and I'm reading and learning music not only from sheet music, but from jazz charts - something I hadn't even imagined going in. I've gained a new appreciation for the music as a result.
Everyone that knows me well has commented on the improvement in my overall bass playing, from the wife to people who I've spent years jamming with. In short, if you're looking to expand your abilities, you can't go wrong with Tim."
"Bill was great! So happy to be learning foundations and proper technique... excited to do my "homework" practice and continue improving for our next lesso
"John's been great so far--very knowledgable and willing to change pace/style/material to suit te student's needs and preferences. I will be re-upping!"
